Gabriel Byrne has played a priest in Stigmata & in this movie, the Devil. Man has range. Also was the unfortunate father in Hereditary.
And both movies came out the same year 3 months apart.

My mom let us watch this in 99, when I was 8. Pretty sure most parents used films like this to keep us all in check lmao. I own this movie on VHS. It's also my mom's bday, she's a living legend fr.
My mom let me see Child's Play when I was maybe 4 or 5. I was in preschool and I had nightmares Chucky chased me around a duck duck goose circle.

IMO one of Arnold's better movies at least as far as acting goes. The broken warrior trying to find a path back towards redemption really strikes a chord with me.
Absolutely underrated movie.
I used to say this when it first released. Between this and Maggie, Arnold CAN act if given the right material.

But, more character driven. Arnold plays a man who's daughter the titular Maggie, is infected with a retro virus that, well, turns people to Zombies.
He has to spend his final days with her as she transitions and has to decide to put her down or simply keep her a secret.

One of if not the best portrayal of a devil ever in my opinion.
Fun little fact: The guy who played Arnold's partner in this movie, Kevin Pollak, and Gabriel Byrne both starred in the movie The Usual Suspects.
There is an essential Four Pack of films that deal with similar themes... End of Days, Devil's Advocate, Constantine, and The Order. All of them seem to fly slightly under the radar, but I love all four and watch them regularly.

I remember seeing this movie a long, long time ago now. Always really thought it was an underappreciated Arnold film. You guys should check out "The 6th Day" Arnold Schwarzenegger gets cloned, it's really fun. I'd love to see it on the channel some day. Happy New Years everyone!

Filmed in my hometown of Vancouver BC, Canada. It's been so long since I've seen it but the helicopter landing on the facility plus the facility itself is the Vancouver public library.

In the Making Of they mention that the original ending was shit. It was supposed to have Arnold beat the devil with a big gun or something. The priest who worked as an adviser, read the script and told them that they should use faith as the method of defeating the Devil, so they rewrote that part to make Jericho sacrifice himself.

Definitely the first time I've heard someone refer to one of Arnold's movies as scary. We always just classified them as action movies.

Stigmata also I've been asking many to watch stigmata is top five fave of mine because how aesthetically pleasing it is with the camera work the music oh my goodness the music during gear dialogue and great scenes is so beautifully placed. Plus the main lead did a great excellent acting each moment wow underrated acting award missed here but yes watch Stigmata

p.s. Being a good friend of someone with albinism, lemme say thank you on his behalf. Many people refer to people with albinism as "albinos"...a term my friend cannot stand, as he feels the term "albino" should only be used when referring to animals, and not people.

Always been one of my all time favourite Arnie movies & as time goes by it is one of his best performances of all. He doesn’t play the stereotypical invincible hero that always comes away unscathed like he always does; instead he’s a truly defeated and broken man who has given up on himself and the world, plus his character’s name gives it all away: Jericho Cain. Named after two of the most tragic and notorious figures in the Bible… perfect name for such a man.
Aftermath is also very good.
Perhaps Arnies best performance ever.

What a good movie i saw it as a kid and give me nightmares specially for the music on it haha and 2:22 For the Ms. Movies taste there is a movie called Book of Eli with Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman, really good post apocalyptic movie

This movie was filmed right after Arnold had a valve replaced in his heart. He did a great job through it. He had a semi trailer full of gym equipment on set so he could work out without having to go to the gym, and Kevin Pollak who was his partner in the film would sit at the end of the trailer eating doughnuts as they went over their lines for the day.
Interested in more biblically themed thrillers? Have you ever seen Fallen (1998) with Denzel Washington? Definitely worth a watch.
The Prophecy trilogy with Christopher Walken might also be up your alley.
Eight hours is so far away 😢 This was one of my grandma's favorites and I used to put it on VHS all the time. My favorite part was the ceiling fan scene.

Other good devil films are The Devil's Advocate (1997) which has Keanu Reeves and Al Pacino and also Angel Heart (1987) Which has Mickey Rourke and Robert De Niro. My favourite Arnie line was " stop being a pussy, it's just a scratch ". Also have you guys seen Terminator 1 and 2 ?.
