The apartment is 80sqm, with 2 bedrooms in central Malmö. We’ve loved living here in Southern Sweden, and we hope you enjoy our house tour!

We're Ally and Hamish, two New Zealanders living in Sweden. 6 months ago, we decided to leave city life behind and move 7 hours north to a cabin in the woods!

Lovely apartment! I love that you kept some original features as well. In the laundry the "pressing machine" is called a manglar and you use it to press your napkins, dish towels, table cloths, and other linens. They get used a lot in our building before the holidays. I watched some videos on how to use it and it's pretty brilliant. It's easy to press your damp linens smooth before hanging them in the drying room.
We love the original features too! So much charm ❤️ The manglar seems terrifying... a real recipe for crushing fingers 😅
It's crazy how you couldn't hear the bus outside at all. Here in Spain the walls would be shaking. Must be good soundproofing.
The soundproofing was super good 😊 it seems really common here in Sweden!
Thanks for showing us downstairs! I live in Australia in a house so have never encountered things like washrooms and bike rooms etc. nice to see the little details like that. Your apartment is awesome!!
It's been a big change for us too! So strange to have those things in the basement...
This is a very charming city, I hope I can visit again sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!

That's the annoying thing! Especially when one can't live without at least ethernet and power running all over the place...

Having two cats and a dog myself, I am always replacing the cushions in my house as well, so make sure you buy loads for the new home.
I'm assuming the Art novo style Firefly pictures will be moving with you?
There will be a whole lot more with the drone! I'm still a bit spooked at how high it goes and somehow doesn't manage to fall out of the sky though... gotta get more practice in.

You are correct, it is a clothes press. The swedish word for it is "Mangel" but it is a thingamajig that few people use today. Like an old relic from the past. Some buildings still have it in their laundry room though.

Can you guys make a video about the costs of home ownership in Sweden? I've been reading about all the home owner association stuff and the tax you pay to them and I'm very confused and scared 😂
That's a great idea and there's definitely a whole lot to navigate. We're still learning so much about how buying a house is super different from the costs for an apartment... I totally understand the confusion. The one thing that makes it a little less scary is that the systems here in Sweden are well regulated so it feels like getting "ripped off" is less of a possibility (provided you have the right insurances and inspections etc.)
At least I hope that's the case! We're yet to be proven otherwise... 😅

Hi Dione! Thanks so much 😊 We actually bought that poster at a pop-up shop in Mitt Möllan ages ago and I can't remember who the supplier was. There's a link to "madmap.se" on the print but it's a dead end unfortunately. I'll ask around and see if any other locals happen to know if they've seen these around anywhere else!

Apartment living in Sweden looks much than in the USA
There were definitely some differences we had to get used to! (We lived in CA before moving to Sweden) Honestly, we never really loved having to leave our apartment to do the laundry. Won't miss that! 😄

It's a really nice apartment but I'm just worried for you i live in Sweden and everyone knows that malmö doesn't have the best reputation just be careful there the crime rate there is insane stay safe.
It is much safer now than like 2 years ago but yeah, some neighbourhoods isn’t the best still. Just don’t go into Rosengård, Lindängen ect at night and it’s a very safe city!
and yes, that thing is for pressing clothes! xD
I used it once but wasn't sure I was doing it right! Does anyone actually even use those things?
@@LowkeySwedishVlog nobody use them! most people use a faltiron or take their clothes to the dry cleaner. I think mostly hotels use them for sheets and bedding :)
