With a career spanning over 3 decades in Christian ministry, Bishop Joshua Maponga has probably heard and seen it all. On this Something Nice with Dinano interview, Maponga tells his story, how he became a minister of the word.
A path he took after his father asked them what they would grow up to be. He has never looked back eversince but his life has always been that of questioning and reasoning on matters of faith and the Bible.
He has been a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, but he has also started his own independent ministries, Vessel to Vessel (V2V), Farmers of Thought and his latest project, The gospel according to Joshua Maponga.
Maponga is a thinker, author, musician and a scholar. He asks questions and seeks answers to his questions. Listen with an open mind, ponder on his questions and seek the knowledge always.
His thoughts are on spirituality vs christianity and he is always talking about decolonizing christianity.
Recently Maponga has featured on Moja Love reality programs, AmaBishop and Abafundisi.
This is part 1 of the interview, part 2 will follow in a weeks time.

@khaya indigenous you originated from somewhere. The real you is your spirit which came from God (the Father of spirits). You were then born through parents, that is you gained access onto planet earth via a womb and got a physical body. For humans we were created with a soul (which is where your mind, will and emotions are housed).
Christianity is the name given to the faith (not religion) and person who chooses to follow Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour for the permanent sacrifice He offered by dying on behalf of humanity's sins for the final redemption of each person's spirit man (the real you).

People assume and pretend to understand. I see this at work, in the neighborhood, at church. How do people trust what they do not understand - it baffles me. It could be argued that belief in the inerrancy of God’s Word is also a core belief of Christianity because, if the Bible’s veracity is suspect, then all we know about God is in doubt. Saving faith is inextricably linked to the Word of God: “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ” (Romans 10:17).
But the mental acceptance of the above points of doctrine is only the framework around which salvation occurs. Faith is more than intellectual assent, and mentally agreeing with the core beliefs of Christianity does not equal entrance into God’s kingdom. Even Satan and the demons know certain things about God (James 2:19). We can mentally agree with facts without making those facts the centerpiece of our lives.

To leave the BYBLON system that fall and so recognising that should really sober u up to the importance of taking ur journey seriously u not critical but u are important the critical ones are already awake the already doing what they need to do because we are not going to do anything in our power. But we need to be alevated enough that we can be used as an instrument of power to transform reality and that is why a lot of us are

I think inconko phakathi kwenu nobabini would be fascinating. Our society needs to grow and reach a level where we have such conversations in the public domain-have people with differing views, or even similar views in other cases, come forward and just discuss their experiences...I want to provide such a platform.

[06/05, 23:26] Mashapulani: What are the Gates of Hell and who are The Gatekeepers? I have heard every preach , but I have never heard them preach about who are the Gatekeeper of hell. I have released that I am the one being kept in the gates of hell it helps feather understand why I am here, THERE'S IS VERSE IN THE BIBLICAL TEXT THAT DESCRIBES THE CRITICAL STATE OF RESISTANCE AND OPPOSITION THAT CONFRONTS ANY LIBERATION MOVEMENT
[06/05, 23:41] Mashapulani: What that means, people are not free, it because someone or something put them in a condition of in slavement That is not something happens easily, it takes stratange it takes planing it takes money it even takes blood to put people into captivity and then come along a person or a movement.

Good session indeed he is a well versed soul,I just watched and listened to this interview, he makes good points, but he should refrain from mentioning Islam because from his brief mention of it I gathered that he did not study the quran as much as he has studied the bible because most of his teachings are found in the core teachings of islam especially the importance of culture...studying theology doesnt really do justice to the vastness of Islamic teachings...talking from my Christian past...studying the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad and the Quran gave me clarity after most actions of ignorant Muslims made me judge it from far. He is with good intentions though, salute.

For the sake of their code; Remember the hand that feeds, is the hand that controls... KJV Proverbs 22:7.
Until we start working as kings and queens in Africa; Going through hell to earn a pound from the master won't stop.
