- Today we tried Nigerian Food for the very first time!! Billy and I were both very surprised at the flavour profiles from all the foods as we never had anything like this before. We really enjoyed the unique taste of Nigerian food and will definitely try more next time!

P.S: sorry about the ringing again, we shot this some time ago but decided to release it today, hope you enjoy :)
Nigerians in diaspora are really promoting Africa to the world. Wish other African countries can emulate them... God bless Africa 🌍 and Africans
There are many Ethiopian restaurants in Melbourne (Australia) and throughout major cities in the West (ie Europe and America, Canada) etc.
@@oceejekwam6829keyword was "promote" not wether others exist in other countries
Lol...Ethiopians always distance themselves from us Negro/Afticans. They think they are better thanvus😂😂😂 but when it comes to the benefits they suddenly remember they are black
@@truethots3088he is a GH don't worry we know them
As Nigerian im soo glad you both enjoyed the food. Next time please please try Amala.
You can chew your swallow, whether its pounded yam, eba, fufu or even amala (the softest of them all and practically swallowable).
I chew my swallow, except amala cuz its very soft. Great video, its always nice watching other culture enjoy ours.
That moi moi looks so juicy, love it😍
Nigerian Food, very interesting. =)
I'm. Nigerian .. you can. Chew your. Pounded yam .you don't have to swallow. u can chew it
You don't have to swallow the pounded yam or fufu. Some of us chew. I'm African and I can't swallow.
Well done guys, you did a very good justice to food, Nigerian food is the Best. Try okro soup next time.👌👌👌👌❤❤
Thank you so much for watching and so happy to hear you enjoyed it :)! Yassss Nigerian food is legit and we will definitely go for okro soup next time!
I really enjoyed this video! A little extra note.
1. It's funny you mentioned pepper soup as a "wake you up" dish and you are absolutely correct because it's a common drinking food.
2. Jollof rice is not just tomato rice as it is cooked in a meat stock along with several spices and chiles, and sometimes even smoked using firewood to give it extra flavor.
3. It's okay to chew pounded yam.
4. In Nigeria, pounded yam is locally known as 'iyan' but erroneously labeled 'fufu' in the west since it's a more popular term. What is actually refereed to as 'fufu' in Nigeria is very different and is made of fermented cassava. It looks almost identical to pounded yam or 'iyan' in color but has a distinct sour taste.
Thank you so much for your comment Sunny!
We really appreciate you providing more details behind the dishes we tried!
Ahh yes, the strongest flavour profile that hit us was the tomatoes in the Jollof Rice, however, we could definitely taste the savouriness of the meat broth it was cooked in and also other spices.
The fermented cassava 'fufu' sounds amazing and we will definitely give it a go next time!
Overall we had such an amazing experience and we will definitely give it another go in the future :)
Proudly Nigeria ❤
Naija lady in NJ USA..I'm salivating here..making goat meat okra soup toaday..maybe Egusi soup with goat and fresh makeral fish..
The only time anyone will complain to chewing the swallows is when you're a native Nigerian. I remember my mom always scolding me for chewing when I was younger but for foreigners who aren't used to it, it isn't required
Another thing is that the puff puff statement isn't exactly true, the only time puff puff is a must in parties is if the majority of participants are kids or if the party is a birthday but in more mature occasions like marriages, introductions, burials, naming ceremonies, dedications etc the soups (owho soup, banga soup, pepper soup, ewedu soup etc) and rice (fried rice, jollof rice, coconut rice) are the foods that are served
Puff puff, samosa and spring roll is used as chops in most Nigerian events no matter who is involved, so they are right.
You guys are doing great, you've just earned a new subbie ❤❤
Faith is a tree whose root is certainty, its branch is piety, its light is modesty, and its fruit is prosperity
There are doughnuts in Nigeria😂. Puff puff is different
English na real problem for una. She was just giving an analogy to give an idea of texture
Puff puff is a street food not the party food ( puff puff is a fried flour dough with some other ingredients)
Jollof rice is the party food 😂😂😂
I’m actually impressed with the moin moin pronunciation 👍😅😅🤣
But the egusi soup was hilarious 😂
I was hearing Nigerian Fuji music in the background
Who told you that puff puff is not party food. Because Jollof is party food doesn't mean others arent.
It is party food. It's usually packed with Samosa and others as small chops
@@kessiofkerah small chops 😂
@@kessiofkerahyou're right 👍
Wow
Thank you for a great review
Thank you for ur honest opinion! Thanks for trying, ! Cheers!!!
Love it. Y'all are cute😍
That's a lot of food for two people. People don't usually eat rice with stew along with "swallow" and soup. They're usually two separate meals to be eaten at separate times.
We built a pretty big appetite before doing this shoot! Typically, we also only eat one meal a day when shooting videos :)!
@@itsbillyandjing Wise move and thank you for considering Nigerian food.
@@itsbillyandjingIt's considered that you trust issues If you eat jollof rice and Stew together over here in Nigeria 😂😂. Stew is for white rice not Jollof rice. Thank you
I think I might pull up this week and have some
I am a Nigerian
I chew mine
Pls guys u can chew your fufu or poundo yam.if it suits u.all going into the stomach thou.
You can chew the pounded yam pls. It doesn’t matter how you eat it.
For your first time eating something like fufu or pounded yam and soup or sauce, scoop a lot of soup or sauce and you can chew to get the flavours. Enjoyed the video 👍🇳🇬❤️

Luv the video....but its okay to swallow or chew ur fufu
You don't have to necessarily put the egg in the moin moin but it tastes good 😩🤤🤤
Because it's called swallow doesn't mean you shouldn't chew it, c'mon!😂
Just subscribe I’m Nigerian
Pls chew next time. I am Nigerian and I chew. To savory the food pls chew
I can assure u!! NIGERIAN meal doesn't look this dull😊
I don't get it. Which one of the meals looked dull?
Please ask the people them to explain the food better to you thanks
Jollof rice not tomato rice, thanks
Hi Aminat, thanks for your comment! yea we did mention it was Jollof rice. Tomato rice was just how we described it :)! (p.s. the Jollof rice was very delicious and one of our favourite dish there)
@@itsbillyandjing I loved this video and I also love how you handle comments that may be offensive. You have earned a new subscriber. PS: If you haven't yet can you please do a video on trying Nigerian Snacks?
@@ekanemrainaeffiom5990 Thank you for your support! Nigerian snacks sounds amazing! We will definitely get to it eventually so stay tuned! :)
Frr!! I was about to say the same thing. Nice vid btw👍
Do you know is a big abomination for you to sniff or smell your food before you eat it here in Nigeria? Inshort is a insult 😒
Maybe in your community but is not abomination in Nigeria. Though is bad 😊
Ahh, we'll know for next time! We just couldn't help it, everything smelled really really good!
