I think you're so courageous speaking out about this. Why should you hide, you've done nothing wrong. I understand that society finds it hard to hear our stories but people have been silent for years and this abuse continues to happen. I so respect each of you and thank you for speaking up.

Imagine a young boy befriended by a priest. The priest invited the young boy to go swimming during a weekend at a Dominican run high school in Chicago. They are alone. The priest takes advantage of the situation and sexually abuses the young boy. He continues to sexually abuse the young boy for over a year. More than once, he takes the young boy out of class so he can try to sexually abuse him. The priest was named George Dyer. The young boy was me almost fifty years ago.
To this day, the Dominican Order refuses to pay for my mental health therapy.

400 in Illinois, 300 in Pennsylvania, 300 in Chile, and that's just the bits I've heard. The Catholic Church, regardless of the systematic good things (schools, charities, etc...) it supports, it has systematized hiding child abuse - likely for centuries. Celibacy simply draws out men and women with way more than the normal problems than average. Celibacy, whatever else one might say, is cruel and unnatural for most people. You can't wish pray, "decide", or deny sex from your mind. It's a major part of everyone's psychological makeup.
Why aren't police investigating, charging, and arresting clergy pedophiles? Are government officials ignoring crimes and "respecting an established religion?' as prohibited in the Constitution?

So I am a practicing Catholic. And I have never been abused. But I just want to say that when this abuse happened and when they came out with their strategies to address it, I felt like they totally missed the mark. Granted some of the things they instituted were good, such as vetting people That are near our children, but they never got to the root cause of this!! And I’m not even saying I think priest should be married. That’s a different question. But they did not address the secrecy in the church. They did not address the corruption in the church, not fully recognizing their own inner issues. I’m still angry about that.

Support to all the victims. It is so unfair that Church and leadership of the church still does not care to eradicate these criminals. its 2024 and its still happening , all the hiding of the guilty, all the minimizing, all the negating the victims and all the hiding when its out. I am disgusted by the church and i am disgusted by them today.. because they are still not doing the right thing. Its happening all over the world. Church has not changed.

'And the town LOVED him.' Where have we heard that before ? Myles Appleby, Father Raphael of Downside School, England, was worshiped - he allowed that and enabled that. Father Raphael Appleby has a police record for sexual abuse, such a weak term for Spiritual Murder. Not only did he 'abuse' innocent boys (rape-bugger?) in his charge but also, in his own words, had 'an interest in (little) girls'. He was part of a pederast ring, whose tentacles spread far and wide. I know a number of victims from this pedo ring; and not one is in a happy relationship. How anyone can cross the threshold of a catholic church is beyond me.

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3Forbidding to marry, to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

1 Timothy 4:3....and the previous scripture states "speaking LIES in hypocrisy having their own consciences SEARED with a hot iron"...in other words no conscience of what they've done. Read the Bible for yourself and "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" for its God who works in you, not man.

The Church is not to blame because a lot of these priests are in Pennsylvania and are shaped by some thriving negative culture in states showing similar stats. These traits are shaped and instilled characteristics that is already festering in these states especially with stats like these. These men make choices to enter for a reason and are already vulnerable. There is definitely a profile here and the Church Christianity needs to seek out psychiatrists, therapists and explore how to minimize men with certain vulnerabilities from entering the priesthood.

    • @lindakiley7698
      @lindakiley7698 Před 5 lety +6

The church is to blame and since these cover-ups have been going on for decades and pedophiles are rampant, they need to examine the culture of Catholicism. Men cannot be celibate number ONE and until the church realizes this they are back to square one. What are these stats you speak off? That these applicants for the priesthood be screened for pedophile tendencies? How would they answer? They would answer, " I want to do God's will and become a priest." This problem is way beyond having Psychiatrists screening: This is a Crime against young victims just starting their lives, and are brutalized with being raped by men of the so-called cloth that need to have an orange jumpsuit cloth to pay for their crimes!!

The cases of sexual abuses committed by Catholic priests is not only disturbing but also upsetting. I have a friend of mine who’s in the training process of becoming a Catholic priest. My hope is that when he becomes a ordained priest, he won’t become a sexual predator towards children. And hopefully the Archbishop will keep an eye on him.

still bishops are behave like a gods still is abuse and they are cynical even now when made statements saying that they are sorry - people were abuse sexually and people were and are abused because of the power given to bishops which is without control and you can't question them. They treat people like rubbish no respects for believers no respect too for ordinary priest inside is cast of those who are allowed to do anything and those who are nobodies - people church goers and ordained who left (say what is inside, why did you leave) you need to take steps not just complain and not allow that small group of high hierarchy terrorise communities - you give them power because you pay and you come to the church - those 2 things feed their ego and power so all is in your hands

While I feel great sorrow for true victims (I know one) the tale of fake 'victims' must be told.
Of all the investigations we have heard, many of these cases involve OLD cases-many of the guilty men were already kicked out of the priesthood by bishops who did their job-many were accused AFTER they died (how do you judge a dead person).
As a proud Catholic, I know instances where people just lied about their 'abuse' and sent innocent priests and even others to jail.
There are MANY priests who have been falsely accused
One is Fr MacRae who is now in his 25th year of prison on a fake abuse charge.
His 'victims' were encouraged by their lawyer to lie, to fake crying on the stand (we see that a lot on tv), and even the judge told the jury to ignore 'discrepancies' in their testimony.
MacRae defended his innocence, refused to plea bargain, which would have given him a much shorter sentence, and the state of New Hampshire has kept him hidden under lock and key all these years.
One of the real crimes of the Church and soceity, is that NO ONE has tried to free him or other innocent priests who are victims.
IF you are really mad about abuse, then tell the public school system to turn in the thousands and thousands of teachers and schools employees who have been abusing kids for years and have gotten away with it!!!!!!!!!!!

With such incidents and underground sinister activities within the Catholic Church that is the main reason why Priests/Bishops are unable to performed the activities which were performed by Saints Peter, Paul and the first 72 disciples! They have the power but lack faith!!! They can hardly deliver, heal instantly the afflicted, the sick, drug addicts! It is not possible for such caliber of clergy to bring Jesus Christ on the scene! This is my belief!!! Any type of sin is devil’s house!!!!
