I think they’re doing a terrible job in some areas. I know they can’t be perfect but still they miss the most obvious calls. I think the nba pays the refs to help decide who wins each game at this point.

I use to ref before, and I’ve missed tons of calls. But if you have instant replay and even get the replay wrong, then I really don’t understand how all these calls can be missed.

Basketball is so difficult to officiate. For one, often times there is unstopped action for over a minute. Football is usually 6-8 seconds. Baseball 1-4 seconds. Secondly, when is the contact strong enough to be a foul? There's always contact. Thirdly, once you make a call you can't say it was a mistake as is allowed in football. Finally you must remember officials are like players; some are better than others.
I just remember when we had grown ups playing in the NBA, not a bunch of infants whining all the time.

After all these years of watching the nba I still can't believe how objectively bad the majority of refs are. Apart from that only few of them are able to properly communicate with the players and coaches. Either they are dead silent or full of themself.
Unfortunately, this horrible officiating will not ever end. Just listen to commentators serve as enablers of the horrible officials. They act as if we don't see the hard fouls.
There is a LOT of money to be made fixing games. If the fans remain quiet, the league benefits since the league is also complicit and 100% supports bad officials.
Sadly, I only watch highlights now, in order to find out how bad the calls have degraded.

For every bad call, there's 500 good ones so it's easy to get riled up when the bad ones are all lined up in a pretty little compilation video. I'll tell you though, I've seen the coaches apoplectic over recent ref fumbles this season, and it feels unlike other seasons of the past.

It's been a rule, for years now, you have to give a jumpshooter room to land. Far too many players seriously hurt ankles and knees on plays like this. It's a wonder Harden didn't turn his ankle.
Harden jumps into defenders far too often, official must have assumed he did the same thing and made no call because of it.
