That's correct. Mostly because of it being the geographic center of Asturias. The real reason though, I can't say for sure why... I'm not that versed in history.

Que razon tienes Elliot llamando vandalos a estos esperpentos humanos que pintan y destrozan esculturas y edifios historicos de toda España, yo vivo en Vitoria donde tenemos cerca de 90 esculturas repartidas por toda la ciudad, y estan dañadas y pintadas mas de 70, una autentica verguenza que da muchisima tristeza y como tu muy bien dices, verguenza

I'm coming soon to Asturias, staying in Oviedo. I have a day trip booked for Covadonga lakes and will most definitely come to Ghjion. Before Asturias I'll be in Barcelona for the 3rd time to see my favourite Spanish band, Trobar de Morte and look at more of Gaudi's works. Great vid dude. ❤

Esa piscina no es municipal. Pertenece al Club de Regatas, que es privado... Y la playa se llama San Lorenzo, no San Laredo. Por lo demás, buen vídeo.

My 2 daughters lived in Gijon for years and one still does. Both of their partners and spouses are from Gijon. It is a great city in a uniquely beautiful Province. Best: you don't hear much about it because many Spanish vacation there. Don't expect a lot of English speakers. Do expect gracious people everywhere!

Spain, see a flat surface and they seem to spray paint it.
When you see either statues or certainly
anything historic is unforgivable to be honest. When I am in Spain there always seems to be more added.
Apart from that Gijón is very nice and has an old world charm in some way.

Hola Elliot, a mi que me gusta mucho la historia de España leí en alguna parte que Don Pelayo el guerrero visigodo que derrotó a los musulmanes en Covadonga y que fue el inicio de la reconquista, murió de la manera más increíble y estúpida y no fue en una batalla sino en una cacería de jabalíes, dudo mucho que ese detalle lo sepan los chavales de hoy en día que se dedican al vandalismo por pura diversión.

Good question. .. for bigger cities undoubtedly Bilbao and and Santander .. for smaller towns/cities I would suggest Llanes (Asturias) ribadesella.. Gijon if you have time
