For a film 7 years ago, this was great. Not a word is spoken in this film yet you can hear their thoughts. Beautiful film, far from anything you usually see nowadays. ⭐️
The horror to me is that short films approached this value some 10 years ago. I remember being a child, mesmerized by such stories. Echo Torch gains me an echo of that experience. It feels the same. The production value feels the same. But it was 10 years ago. A day that feels like yesterday... so long ago...
The moment of realization that it’s the son reuniting his parents was crazy

It’s 2024, this is something I would pay to see in a cinema.

Yeah it's better than most movie bring made lately 😂
Seconded
I came here from a CZcams short failing to explain the plot in 60 seconds, but I was hooked. Not a single word is spoken, yet the emotion is felt.
Honestly, I thought he was looking for his lost wife until he lead the woman to the ghost soldier and realized they were his parents and just aaaaaaaaaa
Fights a monster and survives decided to go deeper to dark chamber. Genius 😅😂
He must've figured he's now the chosen one.
It's the last memory of his parents. He needed to venture.
Also, that wraith wasn't scary. It was in pain.
See? you don't need a 3.5 hour long movie to tell a complete story
Yea and that's great. But I still curious who is the big guy who chase him there and who control that puppet. Overall, it's a great story
@@adityarizky8533 If you noticed, there's no one controling the puppet. It was hanging there
Edit : I changed "wife" to "mother" because I rewatch it again and agreed with the fact that the lady is the mother
Edit (because I rewatch this) : My theory about that big guy who chase him might be a prisoner of war and when he died, he might be a corrupted soul that escaped the underworld and his mind or brain might be filled up with aggressive things like the war. That's why the room was filled with scratches.
One more thing if you noticed, when he met his mother, she was in a different room alone and brought her back to the hall where every souls were dancing and met the father. But, the things is, why she would stay there alone, right? So, I might think that the big guy is a threat to the other souls too. That's why they didn't left the hall nor the room.
@@iminyourfridge I thought, the puppet's wire is penetrate into the ceiling and someone controling it
Btw that's a good theory
@@adityarizky8533 Ngl, I was expecting a big hands controlling the puppet tho but that's makes it more mysterious
Thank you, whenever I watch this types of film, my brain will automatically think of any theories that I shouldn't overthink about
@Marko Djurdjevic Yeah, I was thinking about that too but I'm so confused rn. My siblings and I are fighting over our theory lol
Welp, time to rewatch it again ig
This is an absolute masterpiece and deserves far more views and comments. Give this team a movie deal.

This 20 minute masterpiece is hell of a lot better than the 6+hours Disney Star Wars
Would anybody else look forward to a short series about this guy, exploring the supernatural with his lightbulb?
That would be a great series
Respect to all the soldiers that are working and worked for their country from there soul.
And yet can't band together to fight that ghost
Amazing effects and such a heartfelt story achieved with no dialogue, to be honest I feel almost guilty for watching a film that good for free! Great job Chris!

This short film blows multi million dollar films out of the water.
Creativity in the film industry isn't dead it's right here.
Agree! As Disney can take a $100mil budget (or a $billion franchise)and flush it down the toilet
Memories. I once worked in an old Asylum built in the 1870's that looked and felt exactly like this. Old bricks, slate roofs, wavy old glass. I could sometimes feel the pain of those who had been trapped there, at their last stop. No hope. No release. I still dream about it, but it's all gone now. The rot, the rust. The ashes. The dust. The aching sadness.
This film is superb.
This film is an underated masterpiece. This team deserves way more respect and notoriety.
How do I respect it??
@@zochiangjust appreciate the short film 😊
So many people portray ghosts as evil monsters when in all honesty, there just simply the people before us.
I uh uh don’t think that brute was one of us
@@mostfaded9539 he probably was, he was more than likely someone who was mentally in a really bad place.
@@mostfaded9539 human soul can be the most evil thing and the most kind thing
@@mostfaded9539 was that brute is even human before? Or it is just a Demon...
If you're able to see ghost (if you have 6th sense) yeah they're just simply people before us, BUT most of them didn't die peacefully, coz if they died peacefully they will be gone from this earth to another place
So even if they don't disturb you.. They still look not good (ex: died because of accident, you'll see blood everywhere, incomplete / broken body parts, organs, or if they hung themselves then you can see that their neck is broken, they can't even stand straight with their heads up.. Etc etc.. It's disgusting bro, trust me
Only small amount of them are still shaped as normal human.. It's because they died nicely, but they're still looking for something incomplete in their previous life
This really should be made into a full length movie
It actually was adapted in Hindi language movie called "Phillauri".... It has similar plot

I think it's perfect just how it is

This was the best movie that has been released in the past 24 years.
I came here expecting an horror movie about a guy that makes a light that can see ghosts but finds out that there's things worse than ghosts, and I'm leaving with a feeling of wonder and sorrow, almost doubting my understanding of the world beautiful work, this is the kind of thing that we call art, something we rarely see going out and making success

Best gift for his parents from son, masterpiece crafted...
Best short I have ever seen in my life. No exaggeration. 10/10
That was so sweet and poignant. I cried when I realized he had reunited his mother and father... The way she look so happy and full of joy at seeing her baby again... This was not what I thought it would be in the beginning or even in the middle (the scratches man was very scary) but it was so good. Thank you.
Not going to lie - this short film brought a tear to this old man's eye. Without having a single piece of dialogue this film managed to tell story that not only intrigued me, frigthened me (a little, but still), and managed to touch me on an emotional level very few films have managed to. For that alone I tip my hat to the creative team behind this film. I don't think this film may have worked as a full feature length film, not in the way it was made, but damn it - I'd love to see more adventures of this invetor and his ghost-revealing lightbulb. I'm truly appalled how few views this wonderful film has and swear to spread it around so that this error might be fixed!
Can milk 4 seasons and 1 movie out of this.
I am stunned.
In the world of mindless money drains, this short movie gave me all I looked for. I was hooked with curiosity when I saw the miner. My heart raced when the man was running away from the monster. And, in the end, when the parents reunited, it teared me up.
This is how you make a movie.

The ONLY BAD in regards to this film is that it's too SHORT! I was in AWE from the moment it began to the tear jerker at the end... A True Masterpiece that needs to be in theaters at a showing length of at least 4+ hrs....
Oh my gawd, at first there was such a GhostBusters vibe, but then such an amazing turn. Visually stunning and enveloping. Took me on a trip I never knew I needed. My 14 yr son found this and showed me. We both cried. So amazing and I need more.
Released in 2016. 200,000 views. What the heck, this deserves more.
Wow, that was really good. If it was a full length movie i would definitely watch it. Unique and creative. Two thumbs up.
This is the best short film I have seen in years the fact this only has 683k views at the time of me watching is just blasphemy. Brave to the director crew and everyone involved. You have my full respect
This is what Ghostbusters should of been.

It had Sigourney Weaver. Why would you want more?🤣

I really didn’t know what to expect going into this but it was extremely impressive and blew my mind
The Scientist is looking for a way to see ghosts, as he found a way with the miner ghost, he makes a portable version of his invention
Goes to what i think is a Ballroom building to find the woman in the picture, and revealing that his mom who died in World War II (judging by the uniforms of the ghost soldiers) and trying to reunite his parents, knowing they've been separated for so long
Outstanding in all respects! I vote for a new (Twilight Zone type) series - filmed right here in the 'burgh.
I always said that Echo Torch felt like an episode of Spielberg's old TV show "Amazing Stories."
The emotional rollercoaster in such a short straight to tje point film
Ahh, powerful movie. Now I understand how silent movies were entertaining, powerful without the need of spoken words.

Amazing film - saw the premier in Pittsburgh, PA - Chris's an awesome guy - he got a Hollywood deal, but like usual, they sabotaged his story and turned it on his head, much to his dislike. He won the rights back, and hopefully, Hollywood will respect his input on his next gig.

This was the most poignant piece of art I have seen in a long time, he knew the sadness in his mum, the reason she is alone in my opinion is because she died alone, her only joy was her son, and when she saw him, she found her joy, and the son took her to the father, a complete family... I love this short because it understands the love one feels for his mum, it's greater and purer than anything one feels romantically...
Edit: I didn't realise it is 5 years old... why was youtube hiding this masterpiece from me for 5 years
Hear ye, I agree!

I just can't quit watching this! If this is what you've been working on, you're forgiven for not making any new episodes of The Mercury Men. This is far and away the best thing I've watched in a long time. As a paranormal investigator, myself, you have perfectly portrayed the emotions of an investigation. Even though I am a veteran of foreign war standing here today with my wife in the next room who waited for my return, this story had me enthralled from beginning to end. But you see this story never really ends for as long as we remember what came before and continue striving forward our sons and daughters can learn which mistakes are not worth the risks. They can become what we are all consider to be worth remembering.
I hate how little views this has gotten over the course of 5 years. Definitely needs a lot more than that. This was an incredible experience and I wish I could see more of this

0% dialogue. 100% feel.
Love the idea of being able to communicate with the spirit of those who have passed on. To have, as in this case, a special light by which to see them and help them find those they lost would be a gift. What a great idea made into a wonderful film.
This was such an amazing short film! I absolutely loved it!
I wonder how the spirits work. Some seem like they realize they’re dead, others seem like they forgot everything about reality and relive a moment over and over, and some seem tormented and out of touch.
Every person has his own qareen (a type of djinn) since the time of his birth, that keeps leading him to astray, and stays inside him just like blood flows in the entire body.
When a human dies normal death his qareen becomes free because his job is done by the death of the human who he was assigned to. Where he goes after the human dies nobody knows, however when people do black magic rituals in an attempt to summon the soul of the deceased then what they see is not actually that person’s soul but his/her qareen that looks exactly like that person.
When qareen of the deceased person shows up, he has the same looks and voice as the deceased person. That makes people, who summoned, mistakenly think that they are interacting with a soul, i.e. it further leads them to strengthen their false beliefs and encourages them to do more black magic.
Hence, this tells us that qareen not only survives after a person’s death but he can take part in spreading further mischief on earth and can lead people to go astray.
I hope it helps.
I came here without any knowledge or expectations and it's the most beautiful film I've ever seen.
