  • I made a flux capacitor! This might be the most fun I've had building anything ever. If you want to build one of these yourself you can get all the acrylic pieces and the weather stripping from www.mcmaster.com. The box is a stahlin j1210hpl and the torr industries labels were purchased from bobspropshop.com. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments. Thanks for watching! I got to tell you this you're going to be upset but you know the third label you put it a bit too high it needs to be a little bit lower like not to the bottom but closer to the bottom not in the middle other than that you did a good job and you need a round PVC fitting on the top and then it will be 100% screen accurate

    • @martinkuliza
      @martinkuliza Před rokem

      @@Blackinterceptor999
      $400 ????
      LMFAO... Not a chance
$400 would be a bargain and then some
      You're looking at $4,000 - $5,000
and that's being very fair and realistic
      Now..... In saying that...
to compare apples with apples so to speak
the term "I have seen online MOVIE CORRECT REPLICA'S"
is a very misleading term because
      1. I have seen them also
      2. Most of them are not like each other
      3. Most of them are not movie accurate
      4. Even movie accurate is not that good either (although we do want to keep it as accurate as possible)
But really , most of the one's out there
      1. Are just a box with lights (Which is basically what this is)
      2. Honestly .... People build it because they figure, it won't cost that much...
      yeah... Wanna Bet ?
and then they understand the reality of this project and they cut corners so they don't exceed thousands of dollars
so.. for those projects..... (which are not movie accurate)
      Yeah , sure
some of them can be around $500 - $800
(I'm talking AUD) currency is also important
      then don't forget shipping
but if you really are a fter a movie accurate one
You're looking at a few thousand dollars
      I CAN HONESTLY TELL YOU...
      YES' IT'S NOT CHEAP
YES, IT IS DEFINITELY FUCKING WORTH IT
I have sold 8 Myself , But... it takes a very specific person to buy this.
      that person is...
      - a Person that has the money
      - a person that appreciates the movie
      - Building or has a Man Cave
      - building or has or is obtaining a Delorean for a movie replica build
and understands that it's cheaper to just buy one than put in the money
      to build it from scratch
      - or.... Just a person who loves the movie, has the money and wants one in their bedroom
ANYONE ELSE... usually won't buy it.
I've sold 8 in 1 year, You do the math.
it takes a certain person to buy this
but it's not $400 i can assure you
and if you buy the cheaper one's , GIVEN THAT YOU'RE A FAN,
You're not going to be satisfied
so it's just one of those things
      Once upon a time i owned a $300 guitar
then i saw in a guitar shop a Les Paul Studio Limited edition for $3,500
it took me a few years, I bought that guitar,
i have never regretted that purchase and have the guitar to this day
(that was over 30 years ago)
and yes it plays a shit load better than the others.
sometimes you just do things because you appreciate things more than other people
      this is the same thing
you can buy a light box for $400 - $800
or.. for Between $4,000 - $5,000 you can buy a good one
      that's how it works

  • @bulls6pack
    @bulls6pack Před 3 lety +1

What color/brand of gold spray paint did you use on the solenoids? Did you primer it first, I’m having a hard time hiding the wood grain. Also I saw that you had, heavy scratch remover and light scratch remover, what was the spray you had?

    • @wahiwoodworks3324
      @wahiwoodworks3324  Před 3 lety +1

You’ll always prime before you paint. That’ll help some but to truly hide the grain so that it doesn’t look like wood you’ll need to skim coat it. Spackle works. I use timbermates (a water based wood filler). Whatever you use it should sand very easily. I like timbermates because it dries quicker than spackle. Skim coat to fill the grain, sand, prime, paint. I don’t recall what brand paint I used. Something from the big box store, nothing special. As far as the polishing compound look up novus 7100 plastic polish kit on Amazon. That’s what I used. It’s a three part system and it all comes together. I’m sure there are many other options though. Hope this helps

That’s where I got a lot of key dimensions from. I don’t remember the model number of the box off hand but it’s in the description. They’re about 150 bucks new. I hear you can find them cheaper on e bay once in awhile. Www.bobspropshop.com has a lot of pre built components for sale if you’re into that. I bought the solenoid stickers from there. Nice job! I’m in the process of acquiring parts to build one myself. I’m also referring to myfluxcapcitor.com too. Was curious what size dowel did you use to make the solenoid bases? I think I’m going to make mine out of wood too.

Daniel Rocheleau no I just kinda winged it. Although you can buy one at bobs prop shop for about fifty bucks. I’m sure if you looked around you could maybe find a printable one for free.

It’s kinda stupid. If you look, the next size up box is actually only 40 bucKs. The 14” box is over 100 bucks cheaper than the 12” box. I’m convinced it’s because the manufacturer knows the 12” boxes are in demand for this build. If you look at the flux capacitors that are available commercially, the boxes are always a little different. They have to be because the manufacturer has a patent on that box style. So if you want to buy a screen accurate piece, your looking at at least $400 if you don’t build it yourself. Crazy.

@@wahiwoodworks3324 ah yes stingy greedy business 101. Supply and demand. In this case, I will go with the next size up. Sounds like a fun build, and I can't' wait to be wet sanding the acrylic plastic pieces as I look straight into the camera. hehehe. Great build by the way!
