    I remember being FRIGHTENED by the Jaws attraction, for context I was 10 years old when my family planned a Disney/Universal vacation with my aunts and cousins. I vividly remember being scared of even the concept of being around a live shark since in order to “prepare” for universal, I watched some movies such as Men In Black, Jurassic Park and such, but I watch a bit of Jaws before getting too scared and turning the movie off. We went to universal the third day, and the two days before that I lived in fear of having to face the shark; that is a memory I won’t forget 🤣

    The jaws animatronic should have been put into the lagoon in the middle of Universal. Have the fin come up every now and then right next to where people sit to eat or rest, the full size shark jumps out of the water to scare people.

    I understand needing to update attractions. You don't want a ton of outdated special effects or deteroriating animatronics, or movies that nobody remembers or cares about in a movie themed park.
    A big problem is some of these rides are for Classics that are BELOVED and end up replaced by movies that do get forgotten, so it ends up dated to movies that nobody cares about, instead of just older ones.

    • @kaygee5115
      @kaygee5115 Před 2 lety +3

      Absolutely. I’d also like to add the new kong ride is a TERRIBLE attempt at honoring Kongrontation. The first (and only) time I went on I thought at minimal the animatronic I heard about would soften the wound. Nope. Just a big head sitting there snarling. 🙄

    • @nikkimarie8170
      @nikkimarie8170 Před 2 lety +2

      Right. Like don’t get me wrong, I love the mummy ride, but does that movie hold relevance anymore today? Maybe it does for others but not myself, yet kong DID become relevant again. And the new king ride is ok, but with the screens, it’s NOTHING like the thrill of walking through the New York subway and getting on that suspended cable car. If animatronics like in pirates can hold up for as long as they have and are still going, they definitely could have kept up with the animatronics on Kong and Jaws. It really stinks.

    • @tallerwarrior1256
      @tallerwarrior1256 Před rokem +1

      I think the issue was that Universal didn’t know what to do with a lot of these rides, especially Jaws and Kong. Those two rides were mostly killed off due to maintenance cost, whether it be for the complex animatronics or special effects. Now could they remake the rides and bring back the characters or the franchise into the park, yes. But will they bring back the exact same ride? No.

  • @nikkimarie8170
    @nikkimarie8170 Před 2 lety +4

    The cool thing about the older, beloved rides such as Kongfrontation, jaws, earthquake, twister, ect was that they actually felt like being on movie sets and it was SO COOL to have the props and see the pyrotechnics and actually feel like you were in these movies. I thought that was the point of the studios side. With eliminating these, most rides now are just screens. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and I love all the HP stuff and rides they added, and the mummy is dope too, but I just wish there was a way they could have kept these classics and expanded. It just feels like the magic is lost from when I was younger and would be thrilled to go to universal and feel like I was “part of the movies.” IOA is by far my favorite of the two parks now.

    It its really nice to see a lineup I agree with here... although my most missed attractions were both King Kong attractions (King Kong Encounter and Kongfrontation). It was so cool to experience both in the way I did with my first experience at the U.S. Hollywood attraction (King Kong Encounter) first in July or August of 1987. Many years later after the Orlando attraction (Kongfrontation) opened, I experienced that version at least a few times. Seeing this attraction get such a huge upgrade (though I will always love the original) was quite an experience of its own. So... #1 and #2 slots go to Kongfontation and King Kong Encounter. The other huge memory I cherish of old Universal Studios are both versions of the Jaws rides. #3 would go to the Orlando Jaws and #4 the Hollywood version since it was (and still is) not a stand alone attraction but part of the tram tour. My top 5 rounds out with E.T... but at least there is still one at the Orlando park and they better not take out the only original opening day attraction left there!

Even older musicians that aren't even around anymore from the 40s and 50s, clear up to modern musicians like AC/DC and Enimem. The fire was due to negligence on updating to modern fire laws, too. Jaws was alright but I could only ever ride it once, it was too scary. The mummy is my favorite ride at universal if I had to chose.

    I do not miss the King Kong attractions AT ALL. I went on the backlot tour in Hollywood when I was 6. That monster gave me nightmares. 😭

    Maybe since the Blue Man Group show at Universal Florida is closed, they could put something Nickelodeon based in its place.

    I think they should have kept Universal Studios as a movie based park and added theses newer attractions at IOA. Like in its 32 year history many attractions have been replaced at least twice with just ET left from opening day but in IOA just duelling dragons has been removed.
    I know things get old but US attractions in the last 10 years have been poor compared the attractions they added at IOA

    I guess I was lucky because most of the attractions they said I still had the opportunity to visit them

    E.T. was strike 1 when it closed. The Mummy is stupid short and a waste compared to E.T. When 2007 rolled in, the announcement to closed Back To The Future: The Ride was like a dagger to the heart. I enjoyed it as much as possible til it closed. After that, I didnt set foot at that park until I was offered a free ticket to try Transformers. It was meh, nothing special but I havent been there since.

    Jaws, King Kong, the Nickelodeon show, Back the Future.. they need to brink back Back to the Future and get rid of The Simpsons. That ride always has a 10 minute wait or has no line at all.
