    My experience with tactical/combat boots is as follows:
    For Warmer times, Rocky S2V boots, hands (or should I say, feet) down. I have seven pairs of them, 2 RKC075, 2 FQ000102, all four in black, and I have the FQ000102 variation in tan, sage green, and mojave. Both when I was walking a beat, in a patrol car, and now in security, my favorite non-winter boots running.
    For the Colder times, I prefer the Matterhorn 1997 boots. With 200 grams of insulation, waterproof, and being a 10" boot instead of the standard 8", my feet stay warm and dry no matter I manage to get into. Three pairs in black, a tan, a sage green and a mojave pair
    I've tried others (Reebok, Altama, Haix, Irish Setter, Red Wing, Bates, Danner, Other Rocky Styles, Other Matterhorn Styles, 5.11, Ridge Belleville,) but these are to two brands and styles that I prefer. Your feet will probably tell you different. 🥾👮‍♂

    Oakleys and reeboks are SO comfortble, but fir sure if your wearing these boots on rucks and doing everything putting in work related, youll be wearing them out in a few months. And oakleys for me, something bout them makes my feets extra hot. But really comfy.

    I used the Gramont T8 in Iraq and the Wahiba Desert. They're comfortable, hard wearing and have few drawbacks. The leg height could be higher to reduce sand and gravel getting to your feet. I changed the laces for khaki 550 cord and had a leather oval patch inside the heels to reduce friction. Remember you're not always standing up. Sometimes you have to crawl.

      I tried Oakley Light Assault boots in a shop. They were kinda on the snug side. Is it true that they break in nicely? Also one size bigger was really too big. The oakleys are great for running, rucking, and everyday garrison use. They suck ass in the field though. They’re just not rugged enough. @@valarmorghulis322 Yes being that they are so thin they break in fairly quickly and the snug fit actually reduces your foot from rubbing inside the boot which will help with avoiding blisters. The wide bottom on them also help in reducing the chance of twisting your ankle. That’s why I mainly use them for rucking or running

      @fiendslegacy Před 3 lety

      Ok, so tell us what to get instead.

    • @kolinmartz
      @kolinmartz Před 3 lety +1

      fiendslegacy is go for the Garmot bifidas. Although I’m sure garment also do not offer resolves anymore, at least the sole cup is an item available for cobblers to order from Vibram unlike the S2V sole that is exclusive only to Rocky. So at that point it’s all a matter of finding a cobbler that is within that dealer network. But the main reason why I won’t get S2Vs anymore is because rebuilding was one of their original selling point for the S2V. From my experience tbh, USGI has always been adequate for me. If I wanted more comfort and lightness I’d go all the way to the Nike’s instead of something just a little more comfortable. So those two are my recommendations. If you value ruggedness and alright with just being just a little lighter than USGI then the Garmonts, if you need a good one for running or for garrison wear, Nikes.
