- Went wild camping in the Galloway forest park in Scotland with a friend. I slept in the Whitehills backwoods bungalow tent , had a campire and gazed at the full moon and stars . As it was a clear sky , the heavens opened up for us , as we sat and marvelled at the sky above !

Since 2009, Galloway Forest Park has been designated by the International Dark-Sky Association as only the fourth Dark Sky Park in the world, and the first in the UK. It’s been named a Gold Tier park for its breathtaking and rare stargazing conditions. There are now over 100 Dark Sky Parks worldwide.
Very few people live in the 300 square miles of forest and hills in the park so nights really are black. Over 7,000 stars and planets are visible with the naked eye, and the bright band of the Milky Way is usually easy to see arching across the sky. There’s a new show every night, because as we travel round the sun, we’re getting a constantly changing view of the stars.

Yeah it was his first time out , so had to show him the ropes . Scared of beasties , moaning he was cold , but he went to bed early , so i got some peace and quiet for a while 🤣 thanks for watching 👍🏻🏕

The Blowtorch always cracks me up... Ally doesnt eff about when it comes to firelighting... ATB looked a gd laugh even if no matter how far you go , some nutter always pitches next to you ;)

That's the least stealthy "stealth camp" I've seen! 🤣🤣 🤣At least you had a wee Step 2 with you. I've yet to visit Galloway Forest Park, looks a nice spot there. I'd be worried about the little furry guys chewing through my gear. Had that at Loch Lomond, where a mouse chewed through my bag to get into the food inside. The bag was suspended from a tree at the time!
I never said it was a stealth camp , was supposed to be , but forgot my cam net and a few other bits and bobs , mibby next time 🤣 and yeah as soon as i seen those shrews, the food was locked up in my tent straight away 👍🏻🏕

What a location mate! Just perfect for switching off from all the noise of modern life. Good tips too. Spent a bit of time in the TA back in 90 & 91 & stuff like that stuck in my mind. About all that did though as I was a terrible soldier really😂 Loving the portable blowtorch too. That's deffo a first for me. Great camp, Ally. You'll hit that 1K mark soon enough👍
Galloway forest is perfect foe getting lost and away from it all ! Out of curiousity what ta reg or corp where you in ? The blowtorch thing only costs about a tenner from amazon, clips onto a gas canniater , good for trying to start damp kindling and stuff 😁 and yeah soon as i hit 1k , im doing a livestream from a solo camp 😁👍🏻🏕

Dont miss trying to get the cam cream off but 😁 and aye £2 for that bag and in great condition , was snug as a bug , will need to test it out when its below freezing . Thanks for watching 👍🏻🏕

Yous didn't find an old blue and green sleeping bag out there by any chance? Not ours but a mate and I were heading out to Loch Dee this weekend and stopped somewhere that looks an awful lot like this on the way - all sorts of shite strewn about. Looks like it might have been about the same spot. We were going to pick it up but we were in a Z3, not a lot of boot space!
No sleeping bags , just a few bottles and tent pegs !
