Liver Cancer, My Mom had to go every day to have the ascites liquid drained out of her abdomen. The Cancer was inoperable and there was relief after the procedure. That Lady was Brave and probably in a lot of pain.
You can also get ascites from cirrhosis, Budd-Chiari syndrome, and a whole bunch of other disorders I can't remember of the top of my head. I'm really sorry about your mother. Cancer sucks.
Sorry about your mum. My dad had ascites from pancan and was given a stoma so he could just push it out himself.

My plan is to have a statue of a velociraptor instead of an angel and the epitaph "Taken by the Raptor." In a small town in the Bible-thumping American South where evangelicals 100% believe they will be yoinked right up into heaven when the Rapture happens, this pun will either be a smash hit or Velma the Velociraptor will end up being the one smashed.
Damn it. That's an excellent idea. I'm going to steal that! I'm in a small Florida town myself...
Important question that 100% needs answering: Is the raptor going to be scaly or will it have feathers? And do you have any ideas on the raptor's pose?

I wrote a book, too, and totally resonate with your excitement! Of course, the bigger excitement came when someone actually published it. And that turned out to be Cambridge University Press, which stills amazes me 16 years later.
But, whatever.... YOU WROTE A BOOK! And what a book I know it will be. My wife is a librarian. I'm going to get her to pre-order it for others, and I'm going to pre-order a copy just for me. YAY!

When i had my twins i had pre-eclampsia with edema up to my ribs by the time i was induced. After birth i lost 20L in the first 12hrs (thankfully through a catheter). I cant imagine needing that kind of volume removed surgically every few months.
