Stoked Alex and I got to do this video. Risk is a big part of our sport, and even though we can't remove it from the equation, you can decide to not do something if if things don't 100% line up. Make sure to use the code REMY20 on OneUp Components cockpit and my other discounts with this link: beacons.ai/remymetailler
heyo none of your oneup links work because you don't have the "www." in the link (in your beacons link and in the one up link in the video description)
sick video!
Huge respect to Alex for making a solid decision, and to Remy for highlighting it in the video. There are many channels where I can see gnarly riding. There are very few presenting this level of honest, ego-free risk management. Thank you.
I appreciate that!
Thanks! We all have an off-day sometimes and it’s great to remind ourselves there is always another day 👊
The rider was my friend. He was a great rider and had done the feature numerous time before. It was just one of those moments. But thats a great message at the end Remy. Thanks.
i'm very out of the loop, what happened to this unfortunate rider?
Sorry bro. Really. I caught what Rémy said. Was it Andrew Chu? I just Googled it.
i also had a very bad accident a few years ago on a feature i did 100 times before. i was feeling a bit akward that day with new shock settings and i should have been more careful because of that. dont ignore bad signs even if they are small
Sorry for your loss, I saw him around but never rode with him, seemed like an absolutely awesome human and rider. Obviously very skilled and something just went wrong, one of the downsides of this amazing sport. Thoughts to his family and friends 🙏
@@falk.r.h8963I jump a lot and ride a lot of wheelies and stuff as well also to if you're tired and exhausted that's a good time to just normal ride or what I call right on two wheels😂😂😂 but yeah bad accidents can happen if you ignore bad signs❤❤❤❤
Always remember. NO means Next Opportunity!
Dude I love this guy, he's so positive and laughs at his mistakes! Best type of people to ride with! 🤘🏾🙌🏾
This is why i ride with him!
Haha thanks dude! Let’s go ride!
@@alexchapellier dude I wish I lived in Canada! But if you roll down south hmu! I'm always down to ride with dope people! 🤘🏾🤘🏾
I'm almost 60 now. Needless to say, I don't "bounce" like I used to when I wreck. Last thing I need to do is break something important. I stick to flow trails and avoid the big gaps now, sadly. :-[
At least you can ride my grandpa died before 60 sadly. From Then i appriciate every moment not only on the bike but everything life is a gift
@@manosadj sorry for your loss my brother. Great memories
@@manosadjsorry for your loss man that's young dude I lost my dad die cancer when I was 18 I'm 39 now but he was only 54😢😢😢😢
Rip Andrew Chu
Man, watching Rémy ride to me is like hearing and watching a great musician. It is emotionally moving. He is a technical artist in how he rides. Incredible! Wow!
That message totally resonates with me. Coming off a ruptured spleen from a relatively minor crash in February, if you're not 100% on any feature, or line, even on a trail you're familiar with, and confident on, wait until another day.
those lines look crazy, as usual!
the best product plug I have ever seen 21:28
Great message at the end. Much respect Remy 👊
Yep
Well done Alex! Must be buzzing after riding those features... Quality coaching from Rèmy 👊
Love the video! Great ending. Ride smart. The feature will be there tomorrow.
Thank you for this, Rémy and Alex. As someone new to this in my first season, riding with some experienced friends, I needed to hear this!
Love this video, such good teaching/learning!
Amazing vid. Super interesting to see how you approach new challenging features and super nice to show that you can always say no if you are not feeling it. That was also one of the first tips my teacher told me when trying a trail for the first time. You don't feel it: just walk it and maybe confidence comes next time.
Great combo, Alex seems like a really humble guy and top fella
That gnarly line looks terrifying. It's awesome to see how you instruct and help your friend doing it properly, Remy!
Hey, thanks!
The master showing his craft Remy your the man
love your channel, Rémy. you teach so much about technical riding.
I appreciate that!
I sooo wish I had the same accent as you guys 😂
It's just iconic!
Doing it tomorrow is better than dying today.
Genuinely love that you session so many things - when you do it, you normalize it for the rest of us - really appreciate that. (Also like it when you highlight the trail builders - they are often the true heroes putting in 10s or 100s of hours to create fun for everyone.) Quick request: Could you comment on the amount of travel you have on your bike for some of these rides? Whole bike description is not always needed - but when I think about riding some the trails, I am wondering if I can get by with 140mm travel or if I need 160 or even bigger. (My favorite bike has 140mm - it feels playful and fast, but I doubt it could handle much of what you do --- but frankly am unsure.) Really appreciate your content.
Thanks. This specific bike has 180mm of travel
That's a great message, I've had my share of injuries since my first season in 1992, in the first years mostly because I did blindly trust my "good star" it is not a rewarding attitude let me tell ya... Better be informed and chicken out if it doesn't make sense...
Love these kind of vids 🤘
That last trail was sick.
Respect! Buildup to control - awesomeness!
That helps a lot with riding! thank you very much for explaining
Happy to help!
@can you give me any advice on bar width, yourz seem very thin compared to my 800’s , I’m only 167 tall, how do I know best width??
please more this kind of coaching session videos!
bro you are an absolute beast, love watching your videos
Glad you like them!
Good job Alex!! Love theses videos 🔥
Glad you like them!
Love these Videos!!
Such an awesome video remy
At a certain point in life you need to avoid those times where ambition overcomes talent .
Respect to all .
How fast do you ride down the slick rocks?
Uhhhh, gravity
I need this video
sick riding as always
Yeah Remy I know it’s not to do with MTB but riding gnarly stuff is like a long-term relationship it’s all about commitment whether that is riding gnarly slabs in Squamish or shredding old rampage sites in Utah it’s all about the commitment Alex at 11:29 6ft.2 i’m guessing he’s riding a large maneuvering a barge of a bike is not easy Fairplay dude
XL
@ OK thx He could probably get away with riding a L obviously choosing the bike and size to suit what and how your ride is very important
excellent excellent excellent!‼‼‼ Love these!
Glad you like them!
Those were some crazy technical slabs. Awesome to see you guys in action. Do you ever ride e-bikes, Remy?
i sure do. My next video will be on my E Bike!
@ nice, will be awesome 😎
I've spend a LOT of time standing before a feature and talking to myself. You can do this... can you do this? I should be able to do this... but if I case that thing.... I love this sport with all my heart but I sometimes wish my brain would be quieter.
20% off oneup bars is awesome i wish i needed one
The personal challenge
Can I make myself do this?
LOL That's the ultimate question on the trail.
You won't get a rush if you don't get scared, so test yourself
Des lignes toujours aussi difficiles. 🎉
It's very useful to hear your approach thoughts and strategy to difficult lines/features! Definitely helps when I go out and attempt things on my own. Cheers!
Thanns
I always say walk the feature so you can ride the trail
Glad I left that tree @ the 10min mark. My take on that line is focus on the front wheel and let the back wheel slide off the rock.
Very cool! Are you running the Assegai 2.5 tyres for these type of trails?
On the front. I use the Maxxis DHRII on the back
first, finally. I love your vids so much
holy sh*t remy liked my comment
It’s incredible how easy you make things look. I’d just like to say I think you’re channel would really benefit from the insta 360 camera
I do think the GoPro s are better. The Max is incredible and is a 360 camera. Check out my Instagram.
what kind of gopro setup is this?
What hydration pack are you wearing Remy?
The Camelbak Chase Vest
Check the link in the description
Hi Remy, I’m the same height as you but I ride a 29er trail bike. Would you still recommend a mullet set up for trail riding?
Yes even for mellower rides as long as your focus is not just up hills
Just tried using your HAYES brakes discount code on Competitive Cycles but doesn't work. Has it been changed? Convinced to go Hayes
No you have to use the code on the Hayes Website.
Do you use the max lens mod 2.0?
No just the regular 12
First like, than watch! 😅 Always outstanding content! 😁
Gotta show the steep part though
I think we did
19:17 Sounds like a chicken 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣gıt gıt gıdaaak
What size bike is Alex running being 6 foot 2?
XL 29
i almost tripped over a potato this morning 🥔
Il faut vraiment que tu apporte un petit niveau digital pour mesurer l'angle des slabs. 18:50 🤯
Is Alex on a Nomad or Megatower?
Mega tower but not for much longer..
Cours de mathématiques😂
pk tu parle pas en français mais par contre au moins maintenante sais quel discipline du vélo j'aime
Years of evolution taught us to look where the danger is and not to where we want to go. now you ride an mtb and you have few seconds to make it work.
too much French for me 😰😰😥
Good
Keep smiling, it suits you! 😊
