The new shade turret has me like
You’ll never capture the flag, NOT WHEN I SHIFT INTO MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE!
We should call the mini turret the “baby scarab”
@@voxelspec5647 Ah yes, here we see a scarab with its litter of shades.
SOMEONE TELL POSTUMS!! I need these in a content update for MCC.
"I knew i should've added the turbos.."
@@voxelspec5647 You mean like a locust?
Everybody gangster till the shade turret starts walkin.
What the fuck is a TURRENT?
Ever since Halo CE, I looked at those thing and thought "Those fuckers could totally start walking around" but they never did - I feel pretty vindicated rn not gonna lie.
@@howmanybabiesdidNestleKill pressed over a single grammar mistake
@@howmanybabiesdidNestleKill it called a typo shit stick
Shade turret? Nah you mean baby Locust
I have such a huge amount of love for the Walking Shade turret.
Just seeing a shade turret with legs again makes me happy.
They need to put it in halo infinite
Is it a turret or vehicle? Considering you can "drive" it.
Let’s make it useful Lol
It's probably used as a patrol vehicle by the grunts
Man I wish bungie kept the blind glowing floors
I was wondering what those blinding things are
@@apocali3 I think it has something to do with water/terrain
In Halo: Reach, I've seen the name "excavator" used internally for the Sabre. Someone at Bungie must've really liked the name.
Weird name for a space fighter
@Carlos Emilio Wow. That's impressive you remember that.
Man we used to rip on Bungie all the time. But they made the best Halo.
We'll see what 343i does with infinite. I won't be playing it I'll just watch it from my damn phone.
Isnt there a leaked gun in Halo Infinite called the excavator?
@@oxred9658 Yeah, the name lives on 🤘
Holy crap that shade turrent was cool. Maybe rejectedshotgun can re create it
Maybe even for his arkbound project.
It and the Locus would be good additions, and the Cobra and Grizzly.
Yessssss somebody tell him about this
I really hope so! Either that, or the Bungie restoration project!!! Makes me excited hahaha
Maybe they can make the locus based on the shade turret animations.
Damn the original forge menu looks so good , I wish they kept the item preview images
Yeah
I wish there was an option to add color to the halo 3 menu, it brings a lot of life to it in my opinion
@@empathetic4100 well , we do have mods now
I’m imagining a cheesy commercial
“You see THIS? ITS FORGABLE!”
"Marine? Did I give you permission to bitch?"
“See that mountain? You can climb it”
No mention as to why the ground hurts to look at?
The executable is bugged
5:43 I bet they were going to name that equipment Andy
Nah, because it actually blows up
Espartanica lol
shade turret: **starts walkin**
everybody: my satisfaction is immeasurable and my day is saved
Maybe it'll be added as a locust in halo infinite
Holy cow, almost 14 years later, and people are STILL finding new stuff in this game. That blows my mind.
Edit: my mistake, I just never saw this before. Also, cheese.
Bc these builds take forever to leak
Watch some vengeful vadam vids on halo CE betas. Betas and pre release versions take aeons to leak
this was leaked in 2008 if you knew where to look. it's not new
@@user-73a thats pimps at sea, this is a different build
@@user-73a Yup what Gavin said. Nobody actually saved Pimps at sea sadly. This build is new and was found in a bungie devkit that was bought recently.
Honestly, those shade turrets would be terrifying. Imagine you're playing LASO and manage to get past an area with them in it then you turn around and see them chasing you down.
scary as fuck!!!!!
@Edward Spassov yes sir it does
@Edward Spassov XD you did good
@Edward Spassov
Yes.
Imagine it getting dropped off a phantom then it jumps towards you
I don't think most of the objects would've been meant to be forgeable, rather they just weren't disabled for selection yet as is common in dev builds.
Generalkidd: the grav lift is forgeable
Me: wtf kind of witchcraft is this?!
Take a drink every time he said "forgeable"
I knew that was bubble shield instantly because of that story night trailer. I watched the trailers so much on my halo 3 zune
I knew it was the bubble shield since that’s where it originally spawns on the final version of the map lol
i knew the bubble shield because i had my wife dress like cortana and i fucked her
Shade turret "walker" is super cool.
It looks like a baby scarab
@@NotKameron no. no it does not.
@@jetpackdog3427 yes. yes it does.
@@jetpackdog3427 Agreed. That would be the locust.
@Kameron Gatton The locust was a baby scarab this is more of its cousin 😭
Maybe 343 could add these back into Halo 3 in a future update
Really want them to add that shade turret!
They did something like this for halo 2 classic with cut vehicles files being put back into the game so we might see something similar
We still have 5 seasons to go (meaning 5 major updates.) So let’s hope!
At this rate, it’s bound to happen
I think most people would rather have these added in over more armor
Seeing the cut forge content hurts my soul at a deep level
"we al know the tripmine to be...um...just uh...the same. And it's the same in this build too." 10/10 script
He doesn't use a script and never has noob
Also where did this beta come from? I can tell you're really excited in this video, but I'd like to hear more of the story behind this beta, and maybe you could experiment with more in this beta. You may want to consider doing a follow up video on this, it's really interesting.
It was found in an Xbox 360 dev kit that someone purchased online. It's not the first time something like this was found, either: a Halo 2 alpha still running on the CE engine was found in a dev kit someone discovered in their attic, and it was even played on a stream with Frank O'Connor.
I feel like "were meant to be forge-able" is a bit misleading.
It's probably more likely that active objects in the game world aren't locked by default (since that would probably be annoying to deal with during development), and the devs left going through the effort of locking forge canvas access to them later in development once they were closer to release.
Generalkidd is known to be misleading sometimes. Unfortunately...
It ain't that misleading if he's actually forging it, it's just his initial feel for what might've been
I would guess a lot of those items weren't mean to be forge-editable, and were simply awaiting removal of said ability.
The binary on the zoom-in binoculars thing say "Dave"
I explored this stuff myself as soon as the beta was released, awesome stuff, there’s also references to a smoke bomb equipment and the guardian in the debug text.
References to the Guardian, but probably no Guardian files left at that point right?
OMG, once i had a dream about that turret walking i fucking knew it was kinda design to walk.
3:00
343 industries: WRITE THAT DOWN WRITE THAT DOWN!!
The heritic banshee honestly makes a lot of sense as the place holder since there isn't a revision of it in Halo 3 and it would make finding all the old placeholder assets alot easier given their easy to tell visual differences.
Man, Halo 3 could've been even way more epic
That shade turret seems like it wouldve been useless, but having even half a team squad up with them would be hilarious
Now, that was fraking AWESOME!
Really enjoyed watching this one, another one of my favorites I've seen.
Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year, Generalkidd.
Cool stuff General. I'm happy to see you continually put out content for these games
I see you everywhere on halo videos
2:33 - The bubble shield from Starry Night was shown in the ViDoc Quisnam Protero Damno on High Ground, but it was using the Radar Jammer/Power Drain 3d asset. It was shown rolling down a hill. Looks like they used the same particle bubble effect and just changed the model.
What do you call a superior sangheilli?
An elite.
I’ll go now.
Edit: how is this making people laugh
No no this actually made me laugh
It actually made me laugh
No wait stay!!! Your pun with save humanity
No wait that's actually pretty good.
Impressive. Most Impressive
I think RvB uses that model of bubble shield in one of the animated episodes. The part where North yeets it over a building.
At this point, I'm more interested in learning about the development of the first three Halo games than actually playing them. EDIT: Saying something was "meant" to be in the final game because it's in a pre-release build implies intent that may not even exit. There's still experimentation that's going on, even that late in development and it's difficult to determine how all the competing visions at Bungie coalesced from what is essentially a single snapshot of the game's development timeline.
Firefight was originally tested in Halo 3 with Master Chief fighting’s endless waves of enemies.
You always discover something new on Halo. I'm really glad your channel exists dude.
that walking shade turret has so much potential
What this video shows me is that Bungie and 343 industries has the ability to recreate very dynamic objects available in forge. Creating swinging gates, trees that sway when you hit them, etc...
Its so cool to this this stuff after many years after its release, out of bounds easter eggs cut content before release is really unique.
The Shade Turret appeared to use the physics engine with its legs to walk. Look how it starts to tilt as soon as one of the legs pushes down on the curb etc, and how it doesn't have a linear movement speed but instead appears to be carried by each individual leg. No wonder it was cut.
I love this channel, it itches my OCD. You answer alot of questions I don't have time to find myself.
That throwable bomb would’ve been a perfect counter to Armor lock in Reach, would’ve been so satisfying to see some asshat pop out of armor lock only to be blown sky high moments later
Hearing the words "halo 3 beta" brings back a lot of nostalgia
The way the shade turrets move is so creepy...
Could make an awesome custom game where zombies spawn with no weapons and they have to get in the shade turrets and walk towards the human base and invade
Would be like a fucking alien invasion or something
War of the worlds
The untextured Mauler also appears in one of the Halo 3 ViDocs, I think in the Et Tu Brute one
That shade turret concept probably evolved from the Halo:CE turret... Those legs are very similar to that; it's actually a quite interesting concept tbh
Good morning, Generalheed, thanks again for the upload!
I guarantee those objects were never "meant to be forgable", bungie probably didn't code the functionality to make them not forgable yet. You should test to see if when you move them in forge and load up your custom map in slayer, will the object's new position be saved?
Exactly, having them forgeable at this point in development makes sense as it would allow the dev to make simple adjustments to try stuff out. He should try to think a bit more from a developers perspective in these kind of videos as they'd clear up a lot of things and prevent myths from floating around.
Official map variants like Snowbound's "Boundless," which alter seemingly hardcoded map objects, are implemented as Forge maps. These objects are "Forge objects," but were only meant to be used by the developers, not end users.
It's likely that every object in the game has a flag that dictates if an object is forgable or not. I'd agree that it's unlikely these objects are meant to be moved (especially important map elements such as the guardian turrets and grav lifts) and that the issue is that the flags to disable them bugged, devs left them unflagged for internal reasons, or a mix of both. This kind of thing would not be uncommon 6 months away from launch on a project his big.
The floor is so bright XD
I remember playing a modded version of Valhalla on the 360 that had all those little trees scattered across the map like a small forest. Actually made it pretty impossible to do anything on the map since all those trees would get in the way, but I still saved it because it was an odd map. Might have to go set up the 360 again and see if there was anything else hidden there in Forge.
dont know if this was ever noticed but the anti air gun in halo reach's oni sword base mission IS vehicle and walking up to it theres a prompt to "enter warthog gunner seat" but no matter how much you try you cant get in
The trip mine used to also attach to the underside of warthogs magnetically. You wouldn’t be able to tell unless you saw the orange glow. The second the warthog moved, it would blow.
Halo 3 public beta days are one of my fondest childhood memories
Tbh I always thought the bubble shield in the Starry Night trailer was just the generator part on top of the piece of equipment without the stand legs on the bottom. I had no clue it was a cut model lol
Why did I get a notification for this video 3 days later after I already watched it before
Wasn’t there a Banshee on Snowbound in the public Halo 3 Beta?
That prototype Excavator was directly inspired by a similar weapon in the pre-Xbox build of Halo CE, that served as a Covenant counterpart to the shotgun.
The walking shade turret was my childhood dream since Halo 1 on the original xbox... I can't believe it was a reality.
Everybody gangsta till the shade turret starts walking
absolute legend for finding this stuff
When I saw that bomb I said ANDY
Why
The mini shade turret looks like a mini scarab
For the shade turret they might put the locust vehicle in the game that acts just like that. They can move and plant themselves on the ground for a stable aim, this could for the same with blisterbacks
0:43 MY EYES
5:58 *A BOMB!*
That bubble shield looks fucking fantastic
In the original Halo 3 beta it was super easy to get out of the map. In Valhalla you could just fly a banshee out haha.
ok that shade turret is a cool concept, only thing it needs its a turret base for the drivers seat
That shade turret is so badass
I always imagined a shade turret that can move. It is awfully slow though, so i'm not surprised they cut it.
Didn't think we'd be seeing an early Halo 3 anytime soon. Awesome!!!
Trip Mine is different in this build. It can stick to vehicles
Should definitely make a video on what happens if you overload the beta copy may be able to find something interesting somewhere.
that shade turret is amazing i wish it was in the game
The bomb and shade turret are actually really cool
The Halo 3 beta was an amazing thing to experience.
Being able to pick up objects in Forge does not imply those objects were intended to be that way at any point.
Hey, look! It's someone with an actual brain in the comments of this video. HOLY SHIT! I thought everyone commenting on this video were just a bunch of brain dead idiots.
What the. I knew there was a beta but this is new
Very cool stuff man hope some salvage comes of this
Hi, is it possible to download this beta somewhere? do you have a link?
Well these are cool, wonder if they’ll ever make any future appearances
Any single player stuff? Would love to see the cut missions.
Another legendary vid from the Kidd!
This beta looks almost as bright as irl outdoors to my unadjusted gamer eyes.
If I remember correctly, the Halo CE shade turret may have originally been made to walk as well.
Not positive on this, I remember having a walking one in my own Custom Edition SP levels, but can't remember if I made the animations myself or not.
Fun to use, though.
I'd love to see this fully restored and playable honestly
Especially deleting those turrets lol
Does anyone notice that the shade turret is literally a small version of the scarab, but you are facing backwards
I'm porting models out of the Halo games for... Reasons. It's an arduous journey, and your videos are keeping my ADHD brain focused on getting this shit done
I loved trying to find all the secrets of halo in all of the games.
Fun fact: the mauler, or excavator, was actually included in halo 3 ODST.
Good video, theres not much cut H3 content out there
That shade turret with legs could have been the precursor of the mantis of Halo 4 because well in the archives of the Halo 3 vanilla or final in there are hidden graphics regarding the more specific weapons with which you did the most damage or chaos during a game There is a graphic of what appears to be a kind of modified version of the plasma cannon with the mantis text below it and compare them and they are quite similar, it is very likely that this is the mantis you are referring to and why
well 1 as I mentioned before they are very similar
2 is in this multiplayer prototype version possibly they wanted to implement it but they discarded it in very early phases before launching the prototype
a pity that I never get to be I hope this info will serve you generalkidd
Shade turret, trees, bridge, window covers I think 343 should work on, because the versatility and usefulness that could be used with those is I feel alot
They wanted the shade turret to walk since CE and the Locust is its spiritual descendant.
The turret in the thumbnail looks like that new Mega Construx set that’s exclusive to Dollar General
The bomb equipment would've been hella OP to throw on flag capture points.
Also, on halo 2 the oracle, your plasma rifle's overheat symbol on remastered
Amazing video
I was always disappointed we never got that version of the bubble shield! I would've loved for them to make it just like the one in the Starry Night trailer, but I'm sure they just were trying to rework it for gameplay purposes. The final version we got makes a better target to shoot at and destroy, but I think he original would've worked really well too
it would be interesting if that walking shade turret would be reused in halo infinite for a stealth mission with the walking shade turrets basically being patrol vehicles
They'd be fucking useless.
