Its talked about in the dlc only. Anakons creates her, but when she fails to meet her father's expectations, anakons says she is useless. After that if I remember correclty, she runs away to go help corrin kill anakons, to free him of his own madness
@@ChevalierSilver if I remember correctly it’s the bad half of anakos (the dragon corrupted half) made her while the good amnesiac version (the human half) was the one who did the deed with Makoto and summoned the 3 awakening children. Lilith was created to kill the 3 awakening kids and Anakos’s good half but when she failed she knew she would be left for dead. After teleporting the three kids to Nohr (which he knew his child was and was also a member of the royal family but didn’t know which member basically telling them to all pick one sibling) he saved Liliths life by using the remainder of his life energy to teleport her away from evil anakos into Nohr as well before finally succumbing to his wounds. Oh and also this power is why all the kids look different in clothes and the like and why Owain uses magic. He was basically given magic through magic powers I suppose the other DLC describes why they needed to keep identities a secret cause when you talk to Chrom with Corrin in the Awakening free dlc. Chrom says out loudly “Nohr and Hoshido? That can’t be that conflict was (I believe he says a hundred) years ago

Fates might just be my favorite fire emblem game to play. I played every other game for the story once or twice, but I just can’t stop coming back to fates
Fates was so fun! The plot was absolute garbage but the aesthetics, the character designs, the classes! Soo good! .....plus I adore shipping characters for kids so Awaken/Fates are naturally my favorite FE games so far.

True honestly alot rag on this game I think the gameplay was phenomenal. While I do agree the plot of all three route utter trash. You can't not deny everything really cool the character were nice personality and overall backstory. The dlc was really fun and I really enjoyed the pvp wish they did this again for three houses
Between this video & the one by ShaneBrained, it's pretty nuts to see people show their appreciation for Fates. There's a LOT wrong with it: selling the routes separately, the localization, supports (particularly the cut ones), petting, the story (the continent doesn't even have a name) & characters being idiots during the story. But the presentation & music is top tier, character design is phenomenal, difficulty feels great, & gameplay is refined from Awakening. It's definitely a game I respect for being an awkward yet different & somewhat ambitious deviation from formula that led the groundwork for its successor, kinda like Skyward Sword.
Fates has to be the most renowned FE within the community. It feels like there's always something to talk about with it. Like how amazing/the worst thing ever it is. It's crazy
I wouldn’t say renowned, as that is a positive connotation implying the vast majority consider it to be a great game. From what I’ve seen, it’s evenly divisive at best. I would say it’s the most popular FE of recent times, since popularity is tied more to the influence or widespread knowledge of the game rather than how well liked it is. That said, 3H blows it out of the water in popularity and renown, which is to be expected since the Switch is a more popular console and 3H had better advertising than any in the main FE series as I recall.

You pretty much have to S support Ryoma and do the mission before chapter 20 for him not to die. I love Fates for its gameplay, but the paralogues are not balanced very well in the late game.
I'm kind of looking forward to a Conquest remake, later down the road. I'm not good enough to have much fun with it on lategame Hard and Lunatic, so it getting a Rewinding feature like the newer games would probably propulse it to first place for me x)
everytime my father says "video games is for children" I want to introduce him to Conquest. The story is not great but the gameplay is cool. And I felt proud after finishing that last map.

I like awakening too even if it was classic. In Conquest I just think Corrin makes annoying decisions, same in Revelation, and that ruined the story for me.
I never thought the story was terrible, it was just rushed and it's clear the developers had difficulty making everything come together. The story itself had the potential to be the best in all of FE. Fates was definitely the most diverse in showing the differences in culture. The asethetics and character design was top tier, and it incorporated into the game perfectly with the exclusive weapons and classes. It had a simple but intriguing plot, it just wasn't excuted properly. Way too many characters, most of which were amazing and interacted with each other well. Supports had a perfect balance of funny, sweet, and serious. If Revelations was rewritten well, the "revealed secret" plot it was trying to set up would've been phenomenal. As for the awkward "my room" feature, had that been replaced with three houses tea time feature, it wouldn't have felt weird at all. The game had direction, it's not bad, it's just not what it could have been. It's almost as if you were handed a pilot, but not the final thing.
The problem with potential is, if potential is all it had, and that potential isn't realized, then it is terrible. They are synonymous. I could have a million dollars if my hourly wage was $500, but it's not, so I don't. Fates could have a good plot if it was correctly executed, but it wasn't, so it doesn't. Very simple.
I agree with you that it really isn’t bad. Personally, I particularly found the Nohr route to be intense and dramatic. They could’ve done without the child mechanic though. Should’ve dropped that for sure.
Conquests story is honestly so fucking hard to sell. There's no legitimate reason to fully side with Nohr. Not only do they have a super villain for a ruler who hired actually murderers. You have the siblings who pretty much lied to you your entire life and the choice to pick a side happens like 20 mins after Mr super villain killed your mom right in front of you. They could have at least made nohr a bit more sympathetic or make Hoshido have some sort of dark secret. The story is like hey choose the peace loving nation that has done no wrong or choose the imperialistic nation run by a man that kidnaps and threatens his own children lmao
Nohrian siblings didn't lie at all as they all knew Corrin is not related to them by blood but still raised him/her like they would be 1 of them so there is legit reasons why Corrin would go to them considering he/she grew up with them while he/she just met the Hoshido's siblings like few hours ago before that decision so Corrin doesn't even know much about those, tho as for that Corrin's mom's murder he/she doesn't really have anything that would say it was Garon behind it other than the sword he gave blew up when a transparent man took the sword. Also kinda hypocritical you would complain about super villains and hiring murderers when you have a Edelgard profile pic who does the exact same things and even starts a war with a continent just to get rid off a church...

Also Edelgard was completely justified in her action given the information she had and yeah she's still a super flawed character. If the house choosing moment happened right as edelgard started the war I would also say it would be ridiculous to side with her but since you build up over the course of the game being with her it makes a little more sense. You can't even compare the comic super villain that is Garon to Edel lmao. Garon literally wanted to kill people for zero reason like what. Tbh Edel isn't even my favorite three houses lord. Your siblings are the only one but even then it's weird because Xander almost killed you because dad said so. Corrin broke down over their mom dying so much so they became a dragon so to walts right back to Nohr 20 min later is crazy. I forgot to mention Gunter being "killed" by Hans. They stack up so many reasons to not go back to Nohr and give you like 30 reasons to stay in Hoshido besides Takumi being a massive dickhead. The decision doesn't seem like one any normal human would really ponder for more than a second especially after all that lead up lmao

I've replayed Fates so many times. Like, the writing is godawful, but you can see glimmers of what could've been an amazing story if only it had been handled better. The character customization is fun, there's some great levels, and the soundtrack is great (as long as you don't hate "Lost in Thoughts All Alone," lol). ...Oh shit, that reminds me that I still need to finish that hardest difficulty playthrough of Conquest I started during quarantine. Wish me luck... (Also, Leo is best boy, sorry not sorry)

So they hired an outside writer, Shin Kibayashi was that writer. Intelligent Systems wanted Shin to write the outline for each pathway, what happened instead is that Shin wrote 500 pages for each pathway. Nintendo knew this was too long so they cut the story into pieces without the writers permission and the fact the Nintendo demanded Fates come on the Fire Emblem Anniversary only made things worse. Which resulted in this hilariously mess of a story. The good news this that there is a manga based on Fates that is a little better. Its called Fire Emblem If: the Crown of Niberlung.
Well, can't talk about revelation since I haven't played, but, at least for me, Birthright comes quite boring as it's underwhelmingly easy at times, but conquest is top notch gameplay, one of the most challenging and fun games in the franchise
@@DrunkedOwly Revelations is very experimental with lot of it's map design and map gimmicks overall with very mixed results that some can find 1 map pain incarnate while others can find the same map fun and creative overall, what is an odd decision considering it's supposed to be the climactic final route you play last so you would think they would do the opposite and make it safe by just refining what worked in the last 2 routes map design instead to be at it's best.
Honestly FEH of all things reawakened my love of these games, Ryoma being an absolute chad gameplay wise and tanking LITERALLY FUCKING EVERYTHING while Takumi snipes everyone from the other side of the map fully captures what a surprising amount of maps dialed down to in Birthright, and i loved it.
Despite everything the game screws up on, Fire Emblem Fates will always be one of my favorite video games of all time. Even if the story isn't the best, the characters, the gameplay and especially the music completely make it up for me overall. No matter what happens, it'll always be one of my favorite games ever. ❤️

It's such a goddamn fun game, nevermind one thing that in retrospect I appreciate a lot about Fates was how much you could customize your Avatar to look how you want it. I get why they did what they did with Byleth for the sake of easier cutscenes, but I think the weird first-person part of Fates' cutscenes were fine because the animation was smooth and it didn't get in the way too much. I also have a lot of headcanons with my Avatar too, so there's that. xD
For a second I thought this was almost 2 hours of new content for this game after saying you were "finally done" with this game. That would've been crazy
The fact you can marry your family members no matter which of the three story paths you choose raises some questions regarding just how exactly these royal families have chosen to preserve their legacies over the generations. Like, no joke, I had my avatar's child (Kana) romance Selkie (the Kitsune character's daughter). Why is this worth mentioning, you might ask? Well, because in my play through, Kana and Selkie are COUSINS!
You know what's funny my favorite Birthright character is, no joke, not for porn reasons, Hinoka, I know it's a weird choice but here's the deal, I've always kind of written pegasus knights off as they normally have far too little defense for my playstyle but Hinoka actually has respectable defense, especially when you give her the guard naginata so yeah, I like her purely for meeting my desire for a pegasus knight I don't have to tip toe around with.
1:23:12 Actually, they have dialogue alluding to this in their death quotes, and, I think, some vague quotes in the story. They also give their real names in the proposal cutscenes and in some support conversations between each other (if I remember correctly). Of course, no one would be expected to know this but I was just a huge Fire Emblem Fates nerd :p
My favorite character from Birthright is Elise. My favorite character from Conquest is Sakura. Those are not typos. Characters are much more interesting in the opposite route.

Honestly preferred SoV for my favorite 3DS game, but I think that Fates has a lot of pros and cons. Pros. I think that Fates has the best characters of the 3ds games. The gameplay is great, rev tried to have a gimmick on each map. It normally ended up pretty bad, but it tried something unique and id like to see some of the map ideas coming back. Animations were funny and cool. Liked the ice effects that the maids had, and the fire effect rinkah had. The skill customization was very cool, same with the online potential and replayability. The cons: the game needed more world building, and fixed plot holes. Some of the characters felt fairly one tone despite how cool they couldve been and looked (exception being Laslow). Also, the motivations for some of the characters felt very bland. I look back at FE4, and the villians there i think were great. Arvis was manipulated from Malphoy and regrets his actions. Eldigan is forced to fight his best friend and sister to protect his country. Gandolf wanted to do... questionable things.
Yeah, if you ask me, I prefer a ton more thraccia than fates, but fates gameplay is good and funny, though I think they only nailed it on conquest, it's a fuck you to the face, but without tricky surprises, just what it is Also, talking about thraccia, kinda sad that I spent most time thinking what path to the castle I'd take than thinking what rout I'll take in fates
I needed to double check if they split the routes for hardware reasons. So 3ds card can hold up to 8GB and the torrents of the game that I found online maxed out at 2.35GB. So they definitley split the routes up soley to make more money.
You needed to double check even tho there already is a version of Fates that includes all 3 routes in 1 cartridge? Also most first party Nintendo games had to make the file size as small as possible not because of the cartridge but so people can buy more games from the eShop without having to buy a bigger SD card as Nintendo makes lot more money of the game when it's bought digitally rather than physically, while the reason behind the splitting wasn't really money but rather buying a different version giving you a different experience made for different types of players in mind with each version being a full experience rather than how they usually handle multiple routes like making the difference only be very minor overall with a different protagonist (FE7), have 6 maps be different (Sacred stones) or make every route be literally the same for over half the game (3 Houses) what is why they also gave the players a 50% discount for getting the other versions cheaper as DLC rather than doing the Pokemon thing of releasing 2-4 versions of the same game with all having the same price.

I played the entirety of Fates for a nonstop week only breaking for food, sleep and bathroom because of Big Sis.. I MEAN Camilla. I didn't get smarter on tactics but gosh darnit I really fell in love with the dumb cheesy game and Camilla even more when I learned of her past stories. The Support systems (especially 56:46) awakened the ugly shipping monster I never knew was in me. Also 33:00 made me laugh so hard, I jumpscared my husband that same week.
I know Fates has its problems…but man…I can’t help it, Fates is my favorite Fire Emblem game, no ironically at that. It was my introduction to the Fire Emblem series and while yes I’ve played some more since then (Awakening and 3 Houses) I can still look at those fantastic games and say…”I prefer Fates”
To be fair to the Conquest route and Garon turning on you without much warning or apparent good reason, I like to imagine Garon was like "WHY would any smart person choose to ally with THIS kingdom? Do you not see how obviously evil I am?"

I’m doing hard conquest and the map with the pots makes me want to bash my head into the wall multiple times
I did my first run of Conquest on hard as well. I somehow beat that map first try. I just broke all the pots while my allies were safe.

As for the awkward "my room" feature, had that been replaced with three houses tea time feature, it wouldn't have felt weird at all. The game had direction, it's not bad, it's just not what it could have been. It's almost as if you were handed a pilot, but not the final thing.
The problem with potential is, if potential is all it had, and that potential isn't realized, then it is terrible. They are synonymous.
I could have a million dollars if my hourly wage was $500, but it's not, so I don't. Fates could have a good plot if it was correctly executed, but it wasn't, so it doesn't. Very simple.
I agree with you that it really isn’t bad. Personally, I particularly found the Nohr route to be intense and dramatic. They could’ve done without the child mechanic though. Should’ve dropped that for sure.

Conquests story is honestly so fucking hard to sell. There's no legitimate reason to fully side with Nohr. Not only do they have a super villain for a ruler who hired actually murderers. You have the siblings who pretty much lied to you your entire life and the choice to pick a side happens like 20 mins after Mr super villain killed your mom right in front of you. They could have at least made nohr a bit more sympathetic or make Hoshido have some sort of dark secret. The story is like hey choose the peace loving nation that has done no wrong or choose the imperialistic nation run by a man that kidnaps and threatens his own children lmao
Nohrian siblings didn't lie at all as they all knew Corrin is not related to them by blood but still raised him/her like they would be 1 of them so there is legit reasons why Corrin would go to them considering he/she grew up with them while he/she just met the Hoshido's siblings like few hours ago before that decision so Corrin doesn't even know much about those, tho as for that Corrin's mom's murder he/she doesn't really have anything that would say it was Garon behind it other than the sword he gave blew up when a transparent man took the sword. Also kinda hypocritical you would complain about super villains and hiring murderers when you have a Edelgard profile pic who does the exact same things and even starts a war with a continent just to get rid off a church...

Also Edelgard was completely justified in her action given the information she had and yeah she's still a super flawed character. If the house choosing moment happened right as edelgard started the war I would also say it would be ridiculous to side with her but since you build up over the course of the game being with her it makes a little more sense. You can't even compare the comic super villain that is Garon to Edel lmao. Garon literally wanted to kill people for zero reason like what. Tbh Edel isn't even my favorite three houses lord. Your siblings are the only one but even then it's weird because Xander almost killed you because dad said so. Corrin broke down over their mom dying so much so they became a dragon so to walts right back to Nohr 20 min later is crazy. I forgot to mention Gunter being "killed" by Hans. They stack up so many reasons to not go back to Nohr and give you like 30 reasons to stay in Hoshido besides Takumi being a massive dickhead. The decision doesn't seem like one any normal human would really ponder for more than a second especially after all that lead up lmao

I've replayed Fates so many times. Like, the writing is godawful, but you can see glimmers of what could've been an amazing story if only it had been handled better. The character customization is fun, there's some great levels, and the soundtrack is great (as long as you don't hate "Lost in Thoughts All Alone," lol). ...Oh shit, that reminds me that I still need to finish that hardest difficulty playthrough of Conquest I started during quarantine. Wish me luck...

Intelligents Systems had an idea for Fate to have three stories to appeal to everyone, but they realized that they didn't have enough writers. So they hired an outside writer, Shin Kibayashi was that writer. Intelligent Systems wanted Shin to write the outline for each pathway, what happened instead is that Shin wrote 500 pages for each pathway. Nintendo knew this was too long so they cut the story into pieces without the writers permission and the fact the Nintendo demanded Fates come on the Fire Emblem Anniversary only made things worse. Which resulted in this hilariously mess of a story. The good news this that there is a manga based on Fates that is a little better. Its called Fire Emblem If: the Crown of Niberlung.
From a gameplay standpoint, FE Fates is absolutely phenomenal, the soundtrack is beautiful too.
Well, can't talk about revelation since I haven't played, but, at least for me, Birthright comes quite boring as it's underwhelmingly easy at times, but conquest is top notch gameplay, one of the most challenging and fun games in the franchise
@@DrunkedOwly Revelations is very experimental with lot of it's map design and map gimmicks overall with very mixed results that some can find 1 map pain incarnate while others can find the same map fun and creative overall, what is an odd decision considering it's supposed to be the climactic final route you play last so you would think they would do the opposite and make it safe by just refining what worked in the last 2 routes map design instead to be at it's best.
Honestly FEH of all things reawakened my love of these games, Ryoma being an absolute chad gameplay wise and tanking LITERALLY FUCKING EVERYTHING while Takumi snipes everyone from the other side of the map fully captures what a surprising amount of maps dialed down to in Birthright, and i loved it.

Despite everything the game screws up on, Fire Emblem Fates will always be one of my favorite video games of all time. Even if the story isn't the best, the characters, the gameplay and especially the music completely make it up for me overall.
No matter what happens, it'll always be one of my favorite games ever.

It's such a goddamn fun game, nevermind one thing that in retrospect I appreciate a lot about Fates was how much you could customize your Avatar to look how you want it. I get why they did what they did with Byleth for the sake of easier cutscenes, but I think the weird first-person part of Fates' cutscenes were fine because the animation was smooth and it didn't get in the way too much.
I also have a lot of headcanons with my Avatar too, so there's that. xD

The fact you can marry your family members no matter which of the three story paths you choose raises some questions regarding just how exactly these royal families have chosen to preserve their legacies over the generations. Like, no joke, I had my avatar's child (Kana) romance Selkie (the Kitsune character's daughter). Why is this worth mentioning, you might ask? Well, because in my play through, Kana and Selkie are COUSINS!
I mean that's not as bad as what the hasburgs did...

You know what's funny my favorite Birthright character is, no joke, not for porn reasons, Hinoka, I know it's a weird choice but here's the deal, I've always kind of written pegasus knights off as they normally have far too little defense for my playstyle but Hinoka actually has respectable defense, especially when you give her the guard naginata so yeah, I like her purely for meeting my desire for a pegasus knight I don't have to tip toe around with.
A real nice touch from heirs of fate ending is how (almost) every second generation unit says its good to meet you when summoned in heroee

Honestly preferred SoV for my favorite 3DS game, but I think that Fates has a lot of pros and cons. Pros. I think that Fates has the best characters of the 3ds games. The gameplay is great, rev tried to have a gimmick on each map. It normally ended up pretty bad, but it tried something unique and id like to see some of the map ideas coming back. Animations were funny and cool. Liked the ice effects that the maids had, and the fire effect rinkah had. The skill customization was very cool, same with the online potential and replayability. The cons: the game needed more world building, and fixed plot holes. Some of the characters felt fairly one tone despite how cool they couldve been and looked (exception being Laslow). Also, the motivations for some of the characters felt very bland. I look back at FE4, and the villians there i think were great. Arvis was manipulated from Malphoy and regrets his actions. Eldigan is forced to fight his best friend and sister to protect his country. Gandolf wanted to do... questionable things.
Yeah, if you ask me, I prefer a ton more thraccia than fates, but fates gameplay is good and funny, though I think they only nailed it on conquest, it's a fuck you to the face, but without tricky surprises, just what it is
Also, talking about thraccia, kinda sad that I spent most time thinking what path to the castle I'd take than thinking what rout I'll take in fates

I needed to double check if they split the routes for hardware reasons. So 3ds card can hold up to 8GB and the torrents of the game that I found online maxed out at 2.35GB. So they definitley split the routes up soley to make more money.
You needed to double check even tho there already is a version of Fates that includes all 3 routes in 1 cartridge? Also most first party Nintendo games had to make the file size as small as possible not because of the cartridge but so people can buy more games from the eShop without having to buy a bigger SD card as Nintendo makes lot more money of the game when it's bought digitally rather than physically, while the reason behind the splitting wasn't really money but rather buying a different version giving you a different experience made for different types of players in mind with each version being a full experience rather than how they usually handle multiple routes like making the difference only be very minor overall with a different protagonist (FE7), have 6 maps be different (Sacred stones) or make every route be literally the same for over half the game (3 Houses) what is why they also gave the players a 50% discount for getting the other versions cheaper as DLC rather than doing the Pokemon thing of releasing 2-4 versions of the same game with all having the same price.

I played the entirety of Fates for a nonstop week only breaking for food, sleep and bathroom because of Big Sis.. I MEAN Camilla. I didn't get smarter on tactics but gosh darnit I really fell in love with the dumb cheesy game and Camilla even more when I learned of her past stories.
The Support systems (especially 56:46) awakened the ugly shipping monster I never knew was in me. Also 33:00 made me laugh so hard, I jumpscared my husband that same week.
