"Bloody yanks, I thought they were on our side!". Well, they are, they just like to employ overwhelming force! This mission was really good, and quite a surprise when you find out who 627 is. I wasn't expecting to see him again.
I don't think anyone expected it. And they made it iconic with a simple gesture of Soap showing respect to his Captain as the realisation kicked in.
@@filiptrescec not to mention him returning the 1911 Price slid him to finish off Zakhaev was a nice attention to detail.
All the more reason I'm being careful not to give out spoilers for you and anyone that might be watching for the first time.
That's Shadow Company for you.
@@StarMarshalSay, SM, what do you think of the original Resident Evil 2 and 3 (not including the original 1, since the REmake's better) going to PC via GOG? Also, thoughts on Star Wars: Bounty Hunter also going to get remastered for the PC, wariness on Aspyr notwithstanding?
Whooo goddamn this mission was fun as hell and the return of Captain Price was icing on the cake lol!
But wait, there's more in the next mission and the next Act!
such a simple but solid set piece, when he turns that gun around and says 'This belongs to you Sir" :D
This mission was amazing in the beginning you were trying to find a prisoner and it doesn't reveal who it is until the end which is no other than legend himself price see him back in the action was amazing
Oh, I love this mission! It's like being in the movie The Rock. Nice to see the whole thing without getting the death screen.
My favorite part 6:57 :)
It's definitely one of the more memorable missions for me. I was somewhat dreading that section in particular due to how easy it is to go down on veteran mode. Luckily, I practiced plenty to make it in one clean sweep.
@@StarMarshal Well, it was very impressive! :)
@@AKisHerceg much appreciated! Though the real challenge was the final mission due to the insane rng. They did not care about balance at all there.
@@StarMarshal The base or the boat ride?
@@AKisHerceg boat ride. The base was easy.
We really had a great streak of campaigns back in the day. Black Ops came after this one then Modern Warfare 3 and then Black Ops 2.
It was the golden age and we didn't realize it.
@@StarMarshal I agree, don't really have many new military FPS Campaigns these days.
But I still have to admit, even the best of CoD can't match up with Return to Castle Wolfenstein, the Halo games up to Reach, F.E.A.R.+Extraction Point, and others. Those have a sense of true heart and soul, plus they got quite memorable soundtracks.
@@michaelandreipalon359 I would leave true heart and soul out of it because I feel it undermines the work that came to making those CoD games and it adds just a tiny bit of fuel to the disaster fire of the perception of quality when it comes to games today.
@@filiptrescec But you do agree with the soundtracks opinion being like night and day, though?
Time to rescue "Leroy", Lilo and co.. Oh, and the intro text at 0:33 is from "Gulag: A History" by Anne Applebaum.
Would it have been something if the setting for this was Vorkuta?
1:02: Umm, weren't you on the right side of the chopper in the last mission?
Wish you were one of those F-15 Eagles, even in a rail shooter sequence akin to Black Ops II.
2:26: Many thanks, Shadow Company! Forget it, Soap, that was very much needed.
From the wiki: "Hornet Two-One was an MH-6 Little Bird (transport) helicopter when the helicopter landed; however, when Soap asks for support, Hornet Two-One is an AH-6 Little Bird (attack) helicopter."
5:06: There are no cameras even when backtracking.
I could be wrong, but Wolfenstein: The New Order seems to have its Eisenwald Prison level be based on this. Gotta love that game and The Old Blood, and it's a shame The New Colossus onwards jumped the shark so bad that a lot of content creators are lambasting it nowadays.
Strange, no other prisoners in this place.
In the remaster, Cell 227 has a secret pertaining to a zombie.
7:32: This better not be exposed in the leg area, coming from Counter-Strike!
If you thought the Riot Shield is strong, wait till the Juggernaut shows up, especially in MW3 2011's "Endgame".
12:14: ...Friendly fire?
13:34: And so we tie up a lost loose end from Operation Kingfish.
There are at least two references to Michael Bay's The Rock (surprisingly good movie, coming from the guy). One is the shower room of the Gulag looking like Alcatraz's in the movie, and two, Price is wearing an outfit similar to John Mason's.
14:33: Poor enemy trooper. Wish this game has more interactivity in case you want to save him.
To be fair, that friendly trooper was going to die no matter what because all those riot shield guards spawned right as he charged in.
*who's Soap?* Classic 😅
