It's often hard to figure out which 99's are best to go for so early on into the game, so today I wanted to weigh the pros and cons of many common 99's that I would recommend people try. Getting your first 99 will be a long journey so you want to have knowledge of where you're going beforehand.

My very first 99 was prayer. I did it in dedication for my dad when he was in a coma for seven days before passing 😢

99 farming was my first. Opened up other skills I could train due to the money I made via herb runs .
Was my 2nd after cooking. But farming is probably the most casual training method out there. Spend 30mins a day on tree runs and you are set.
Farming was my first too. Wanted to originally get 70 for SotE. Then wanted to get 83 for Spirit Tree in POH. Then 85 for final tier of Farming Guild. Then 91 for double Spirit Trees. By that point, I was like fuck it, and went all the way. Especially since I got addicted to herb runs last year.
I just got 99 farming as my first as well, kinda goes naturally when you tend to only play a couple hours a week
Yeah but how the fuck do you get trees and herb seeds in bulk? Or does it just take a couple years of very slow progress

It's different today because of the QoL improvements in the game... Back then wc wasnt the most tedious of tasks you could do 😂 but today everything is one click tele.. Which is great I love it! I didn't play back in the day and I don't think I would for long but I love the era we're in now, I just hope were playing for another decade or 2..so I can slow down the grind and have a lot of fun!
Strength cape is super underrated. Decently close to a bank, close to food store for ironmen, close to Rogue's General Store for selling loot when not an normal spellbook on slayer tasks, somewhat close to wildy for UIM, good for Turael Boosting/Skipping. If you're a busy person and need to afk, then if you get 99 strength at Ammonites you also can get tons of lamps and Prayer xp from the fossils. Never regret getting it early on an account
I went for cooking as my first 99 to fulfill my childhood dream of getting a skill to 99. Now I'm going for 99 mining. I'm currently at 88 mining and starting to feel the pain.
At 85 myself hate the grind but I'm loving the runite ores

i did MLM until 99 and it's made absolute bank for me but i'm also ironman and the main reason i started doing it is because i got a dragon pick from chaos ele at 41 kc and i was needing to study and do homework and MLM is afk enough for that.

I got my 2nd ever 99 in like 17 years last week! First Firemaking, then Farming. Loving finally having some cash flowing in now I’m finally starting to invest in Slayer.
90 Firemaking is really good for Guardians of the Rift! It makes the pouches non-degradable.
99 fishing was my first, scuffed methods that took around 300 afk hours.
Since then 99s have come frequently, I'm 7 away from max now (with one 25k do from 99)

@@jacob6668 I'd do whichever way you can best, high intensive clicking was never my thing when it came to skilling. I always used skilling to just relax and watch CZcams/Netflix.
Barb fishing with the 3 tick method is one of the fastest ways in the game.
Lobbys/Swordies/sharks was always a good 99 method for also money making
I'll say, with the rev cave update, wildy altar has been amazing value for prayer, getting to 99 for pretty cheap right now due to it :)

Woodcutting has been my favorite skill so far. I work on a computer all day so I just afk magics, once I'm home I fletch them into longbows, then alch them while doing agility. So far it's been working so well.

When I hit base 70, I did a bit of Olaat. started interspersing RC between my other skills. E.g gain a Hunter level, get to 20% of a RC level, then gain a fletching level, then hit 40% of my rc level. Breaks it up into hourly or 2 hourly chunks. If it was during the day and ZMI was quiet i’d mix it up with library. Makes it so much more bearable up to 77.
Firemaking was my first 99. I did wintertodt from lvl 50-99 and made 45M from loot
I have 16.8 mil firemaking exp on my main, the only 99 so far. Best way to get clues in the game so far + helps train prayer relatively quickly + 1k profit/hour on the side.
I think its great as someone who stacks master caskets. I mean, 2 elites per hour is amazing!
How does one acquire clues while fire making?

man i mostly maxed out all my "boring" skills cuz its fun for me but when it comes to non-afk skills i just doze off.. like hunter...every run i lost all my traps cuz i doze off lol
I’m on 97 thieving atm and it’s gonna be my first 99! A pretty fun skill and really good money early in the game, also pyramid plunder has to be the most engaging mini game in osrs, not to mention the chance of a sceptre!

Nice bro. I got 99 thieving like 2 months ago I want to say. I think I did Hosidus food stalls till 55 (don't remember when I started). After that I did 55-99 all ardy knights (at lvl 95+ world ardy knights is basically AFK).
i got 99 smithing as my first by doing addy bars at blast furnace from 70.
It was slow and painfull but the money i got while doing it opened up so many expensive skills that i would not have been able to afford.
Agility was my first 99.
Agility cape works as a graceful cape, and is dark blue with red trim. So my graceful set is the dark blue set from brimhaven agility dungeon, with red gloves and boots from shay favor. I love it with my cape, and I wear it more than any other outfit by FAR.
I dont remember what the fuck made me want 99 agility so badly those years ago, but im SO glad it was my first 99, as it is a HUGE quality of life boost. Well technically cooking was my first, cause I wanted the cape I actually wanted to be trimmed and its stupid easy/fast. But I dont count that tbh 😂
As im getting closer to max, I 10/10 would suggest to anyone to make agility a top priority. Its super helpful and you wear graceful a lot the time anyway (assumably), might as well get all ya cam from the benefits and have an awesome cape to show for it 😎
I also get more compliments on it than any of my other capes, since its seen as a painful skill to grind 🤙
I would personally suggest getting all stats apart from maybe runecrafting up to 60-70, get Ranged to 99 fallowed by Magic which are both rather fast to achieve if you utilize Chinchompas/barraging on manicical monkeys via monkey madness 2. This should get you to around 90+ HP as well. After that, go for 82 attack for Osmumten’s fang, 70 Defense and 99 Strength.
Slayer is the best painful skill to grind, the slayer helmet is just powerful and you can have access to bosses like Cerberus, kraken, hydra etc.
First id recommend grinding to 50 slayer, then afk in Nmz until you got 100 combat for duradel, complete lunar diplomacy too for NPC Contact.
Runecrafting was my first active 99 (after farming) and i dont regret doing it. Also got RC pet which is very cool :)

Just completed my first 99, probably one of the more expensive ones. Construction. Just wanted to build a max house for people.
First 99 was ranging in f2p uim. Sadly gave up on the account during smithing and started a members grayhelm
I'm surprised you didn't mention agility at all. The sheer utility of agility is incredibly helpful in almost every scenario, it's the most profitable 99 with the highest gp/hr skilling method, and said skilling method is also a great way to learn how movement in the game actually works.

@@gimmo3246 I mean, that would be a fair assumption if not for the fact that he literally mentions runecrafting in the video, a skill that it's defining trait is that it's incredibly slow to train, but is very profitable. But I'd only ever see that as an issue if you only train one skill at a time. You gotta take breaks and swap activities every once and a while. Hell, I'm playing my GIM while I smith cannonballs on my main since I still need 83 smithing for lumby elite, and I just literally didn't play either about two days ago and played Mario 3d land instead. Might be inefficient, but I'm avoiding burnout.
I personally hate agility the absolute most. I would rather runecraft imo. I don't deny it's versatility and gp, but I can't ever bring myself to sit down and click rooftops for hours. It's too brainnumbing lol. I have 88 on my main and I personally didn't train it cause I hate it that much lmfao.
Agree to disagree with "most profitable".. blood RC from 77 - 99 is about 200m. Unless you get some insane RNG an pull a ring of endurance 5 times with 92 - 99.

Plus I think most people tend to switch to souls for faster xp after those are unlocked? not sure tho, since again it's been some time since i did a deep dive into price calculations and community metas
I got 99 Ranged almost purely from doing bossing and slayer. Didn't even use a canon at any point, Vorkath just sorted me out
same got 1500 kills of vorkath and got like 10 range levels from it

I have 72 hunter exclusively from birdhouses. Am I ever going to get a 99? Probably not. But my highest skills are hunter and farming (75) because I can hop on for 5 minutes and train.

I haven't been playing osrs that long yet but I have 4 99s so far. First was Firemaking, then Farming, then Hunter and last was crafting. My 5th is looking to be herblore.
How long is not long? Some people don't get any 99s at all 👀 I think that a few are easy for sure! But 4 within a short time and I'm assuming short time is 6-12 month 🤔
99 magic doing high alching was very fast and easy. Made about 32m doing it which has open the floor to other skills

Not mentioned here but birdhouses make hunter easy. Runs take 5 mins and you can send em every hour if you want also pays great in bird nests which are needed for brews so always relevant.

My HCIM 99s went like this: Mining, fishing, agility, hunter, farming, rc. I got stuck on RC for 31m xp before I moved on lmfao.

i would recommend doing some thieving wich is pretty fast and open alot of end game money maker ... in pyramid you can get up to 350k exp hour ... i would do farm runs and birds houses to :P dont do fm till you got a decent lvl in wc-farm-mining cuz you lose so much loots .... especialy for an ironman i would say if your not a skiller dont do crabs just do slay (if your low on money aim for konar) :P do some powerlevel points 1-50 and at 50 you will have unlocked basicaly everything you need ....

Been playing for 15 years on and off… my highest lvl is 95…. Firemaking 😂 so fuckin scuffed, never knew wintertodt existed… until I had 79hp so.. it’s kinda painful. But at least I’m getting some great rewards. The yew seeds are just 😚👌

Did 99 farming first, very daunting and overwhelming at first but once you get into it it's super chill, easy, low effort, and it can be very cheap/profittable if you actually do it properly with allotments and herbs as main xp
Great Dwarf and Garden of Tranquility are awesome ice-breakers for farming too
uhhhhhhh what? 99 farming from only (or mainly) allotments and herbs would take 50 times longer than tree runs.. maybe 100 times longer lol I literally thought the only reason for herb runs was to work on herblore... people actually do that for xp???? Farming has been my first 99 twice now and 3rd 99 another time lol. All thanks to the tree runs, and if you do it the poor way like i did the 2nd time, you can get 100% of your seeds free at the farming guild through contracts, and if you are bored pickpocketing with rogue gear. Also for me it was easy to get the spirit seeds i needed while 99ing farming through contracting. ive heard this can be a paaaaaiin for ironmen
@@michaelbaker8632 I did it on main so idk about seeds, but snapegrass+best herb is way faster and cheaper than trees assuming you farm everything on cooldown

@@EriconatorV2 hate to relive an old comment but.. so you're telling me that with the best possible herbs if you were doing perfect runs 24/7 you'd get 25k per hour per run, 600k per day.. with the best herb with every location and no or bad sleep by your own estimate. hell you can get over 2 mil a day at tithe farm since you can get roughly 100k /hr at tithe farm with the best seeds iirc... and tree runs surpass tithe farming.

Why lvl Hunter though? It had no 80+ requirement for quests, elite diary tasks, master clues or consistent money makers. At least getting fletching to 91 can unlock a desert elite task. Jagex teased about a Hunter guild and boss but we've had no update after the initial post. Hunter is a spagetti code skill that was made by a Jagex intern for a coding contest. Not even joking. Honestly guys, why hunt?

wc was my first 99 hunt was my 2nd chopd 360k willows in a month made great money but killed me inside I also got 99 divinination in 21 days of pure hell when it came out

Tempoross IMO makes Fishing training loads more bearable for me. You can still gain a modest amount of XP while still earning a decent number of permits per hour.
The rewards from the pool are also nice. Lots of regular and oak planks. So you can save a bit on any Construction training you'll be doing, like Oak Dungeon doors. The caskets are also nice alchables and the occasional clue.
And no love for Farming? I actually enjoy pseudo-Ironman in getting herbs for Herblore as a main. Can cut the costs of training it down by a lot.
And no mention of Crafting either? The Crafting Cape is just amazing.
