This shit make me feel so at home, these sounds are like comfort food for my ears and soul. This is when Hip Hop was a BEAUTUFUL expression! I hate that Hip Hop was murdered in the mainstream and the survivors ran underground and rarely heard from these days.
Dude, I feel the same way I was a teenager in the 80's my influence was in the golden era of hip hop meaning I was heavily by the west coast DJs on KDAY 1580, shoutouts to DJ Joe Cooley, M-Walk, DJ Unknown, & Mix Master Tony G. In Florida there was Mr. Mixx, DJ Man, DJ Jock D, DJ Lace, & the incomparable DJ Magic Mike who's in my Mt Rushmore GOAT as it pertains to the changing the very landscape of hip hop not only by the skill but also by their influence. There are so many NY DJs that will not do them a disservice by leaving some out but clearly, DJ Ace was influenced by them also, along with a bit of DJ Jazzy Jeff. I would not be surprised if he was not a drummer at some point in his life.
I'm trying really hard not to that get off my lawn guy, but today's hip hop is unique in its own way, I am grateful for its mainstream success, because, without that, we DJs may not have the equipment that we have now as a by-product. no more Radio Shack mixers with the 7 band eq and with no high-performance crossfader or any type of curve control. Despite that, you are absolutely right Hip Hop was beautiful, expressive, and artistic. It was about the love of the art, being able to vocalize what was going on in the hood, and of course, enjoying the benefits of having a female or two. Listening to DJ Ace feels so nostalgic, you can't help but to smile and do some reflective thinking.

How is the song still playing at 2:30 while the vinyl is stopped and the crossfader is at the left deck ( the stopped one) ???
He uses DVS (probably Serato), so that means PC/Mac with timecoded vinyls.
As for the crossfader, it's on the left but probably turntables are swapped between channels. That why you hear right deck playing when crossfader is on the left side.
On your truntables you can enable if crossfader is active or not.
In this case, when the fader is on the right, only the right plays.
The left table is fader free, so when fader is on the right theres both tables enable.
The right turntable will play wherever the fader is.
