I just passed my on-boarding today and wanted to thank you for the info.
If anyone still scheduled to go it may be a bit stressful but the guys they have running the event are great and extremely helpful so be vigilant but do your best not to stress out. Practice the pretrip routine they provide and get out and look as much as you need and keep calm through the backing!

@@raymondgibbs8565 Just an update; I am now on my second week with my mentor out of Buckeye. I am driver 47784.
Here's my own personal experience with onboarding in Grantsville. Yes, there is an element of stress there, but it isn't anything like a boot camp with people yelling at you or anything like that. In fact, the CDT's there were very helpful, encouraging, and professional. But if they absolutely see that you don't have what it takes and you fail too many times, they will drop you like a bad habit. I started with a class of 14, and finished with 9 by Thursday. I think 2 or 3 more retested on Friday and passed. One was a no-show, and another one pretty much quit but I think he simply wasn't focused and/or he just realized that maybe this kind of work environment and setting wasn't for him. And there's nothing wrong with that; this isn't for everyone.
Overall, the company seems to take care of their employees and there are a lot of great things about it. I do realize, however, I had to change a lot of bad habits. One is the mandatory 360 and always getting out and looking. A lot of extra safety stuff that does make it seem go longer, but at the same time, as far as I've seen so far, no one is going to rush or push you to hurry up and do the load so they can put you on the next one right away. That's the big difference I see between Walmart and most other trucking companies.
My last trucking company wasn't bad, and I was with them for almost 4 years. They never rushed us either since it was a local job, but the pay and benefits weren't as much as Walmart offers. But they also had pretty old trucks, some kind of questionable with regards to their roadworthiness. But they were a good company and I won't badmouth them, since even at the very last second before I turned in everything, they said I am always welcome to come back if Walmart doesn't work out. I hope it never has to come to that, but still it's always good to have an out if and when needed.
Take care, and always be safe out there on the road. Again, thank you for all the information you provided before.
      Regards, Jerry

@ D1 - can you back a 53' trailer with a sleeper tractor? If so, you have nothing to worry about! 😟 BTW - The on boarding assessment is run by DRIVERS, not corporate. Drivers that have demonstrated they are safe and professional. Don't worry, it's not a college kid with no trucking experience assessing your abilities to safely drive, back and pre-trip. I'm sure each location has their own backing scenario. So, it might not be what you see when or if you go!
