in the peak of my DDR career I couldn't even pass Max 300... The hardest song I COULD pass was Healing Vision angelic Mix. But for some reason when ever I attempted Max 300 my brain would perceive the notes traveling faster than they really are and I would think to tap me feet faster than I needed to. I would love to try and learn again but there are no good machines anymore where i live :/
@@fav843 It's stepping on sync with the song on an arrow (or even in the middle panel) where that step doesn't exist. Example: On a song you're playing, there's a part where you step only on up arrow every third beat of the song. So instead of waiting one-two-THREE where you only step on the arrow at three, you ghost step at the middle panel at ONE TWO and then step on up arrow at THREE. That way, players can maintain their timing even when there are gaps between arrows. But on this video, Chris has demonstrated amore advanced ghost stepping. What I explained were the basics of ghost stepping. At 1:08, there a freeze jump arrow for both left and right. * *(I don't know if you're a DDR player and/or familiar with it but you can take your feet of the hold/freeze arrows as long as you put it back quickly. Otherwise, you'll unable to gain the score from holding it on it's full duration) * Instead of Chris just simply standing on the hold arrow and waiting/anticipating for timing of the incoming arrow after the stop, he is repeating the step pattern's timing that preceded that very hold jump arrow. He had realized that the first step after doing that whole particular timing sequence is the exact timing where you press the arrow after that arrow hold. Also that is easier said than actually doing it. Ghost stepping is only an effective tool if your steps accurately enough.
bought my extreme arcade for 500. old cabinets are on the way out and doesnt hurt to ask bowling alleys or wherever their asking price. around 1-2k for a decent machine. but a decent machine from a bowling alley is rare, they always have something wrong with them. Dirty as hell, brackets are off/sensor issues so the pads are undersensitive, etc. Easy fixes. Anything more is a rip-off. Gotta put in that spit to make it butter but it's worth it.
I was Today Years Old when I learned Maxx Unlimited's stop is an integer number of beats, I've been reaction funny-ing that thing my whole life. Also _fuck_ those last two steps lol

anyone got tips for getting better at DDR arcade? My feet land oddly outside the hit boxes sometimes (in such a way that never happens with the ps2 version), and I have a hard time registering the up arrow hits sometimes (and this is just generally all machines I play, so it's not a problem with the machine).
my main problem now is that my movements feel kind of sporadic, and I lose stamina during songs that are faster and that have more jumps (i.e. drop out).
Dgraham13 I have two major problems. I move way more than I need to (although that doesn't really have to do with transfering to an arcade machine) and sometimes I slide my foot from one panel to another, which you clearly can't do on an arcade machine.
Man is your form good! I haven't played DDR in an eternity, but when I pick it up again I'm gonna have to start over and focus on developing good habits. I was pretty good as a kid but I don't think I could have gotten any better the way I was playing.
For those of you that think the bar is cheating, I have a question for you. Why would Konami build the bar into the panel and include it in the game if they didn't want you to use it?

Old school DDRer DJ Zero here that was a nice performance sir, I tip my hat off to you. At least I don't get to see someone who uses a bar to do their dirty work and I am 34 and still doing this. 6 years ago I did a basic high score run of DDR 5th mix but that's impressive nice work over there.
Fuk a bar. That's sht is for noobs 😂 doing it this way gives u way more of a work out and helps with balance and controlling yur center of gravity super super human level! ULTRA INSTINCT!
Great job, but that's still a AAA, no better than anyone else's. It's awesome you can do that no bar! Calling people who don't play like you "cheaters" to get the same score is wrong though. IDK maybe you were just kidding though ;)
the entire point of the video is to show that using the bar or not doesn't mean anything... chris ALWAYS uses the bar in all of his other plays, but does this to prove that he can play just fine without it.

Cheater. You already set it to auto play and act like stepping on it. The last part you clearly missed some steps. You shoes are long that's why no chair required. BOOO
people who know how hard this really is, know how fucking epic that shit was. true shit.

You made it look so easy! A lot of people at my arcade look like they are trying to hold in diarrhea when they play this song.

why did he say that anyway?
@admstyles would you?
Do it with no ddr machine now
And no looking
And no legs
And no feet
at that point is just tap dance

What the fuck my dude. This is like the pinnacle of DDR right here. I can only dream of being this good..
Pinnacle?
Just takes practice man... Lots n lots of effin practice..
this dude for real just has a DDR machine in his home -.-...the hell

This is so sick. Working on passing this song now.
can we all just agree that Chris is a God among men?
Indeed
now he should do it blindfolded while handstanding
MrNotorius5500 give him a few years then he’ll do it
can we all agree he is rich and can buy is own cab while other players wish we could have that kinda game time
Nah, I know a guy than defeated crash dignity in the pump it up in nightmare mode, no cheating no bar.

I hate the arcade. I dont weigh enough. I hit the arrows, but they never register unless I stomp on the stupid thing. Its like... why bother?
Halo Nyanko that has to do with the sensors not being sensitive enough you can mod them with tape and it will greatly increase sensitivity
No desync either.
amazing
