    It came out pretty well in my garage and for doing it the first time!
    I'll explain in the next video where i go from here on it with the runs and whatnot.
    Sorry the video is so long but i had a lot to go over and didn't wanna do more than 1 video.

    Nice video! Thanks for explaining the garage setup you have. I plan on painting my 81 pickup as well. I'm curious about what you have for your air tank setup that keeps the air dry and clean for painting? Was thinking about doing a diy copper tube style air drying coils wall mounted behind the compressor but not sure at the moment. I have a lot of rust to fix first so it will be a while haha

    • @PaulLehman
      @PaulLehman  Před rokem +1

      I have a cheap harbor freight compressor. It’s the 29 gallon one. I then made a copper pipe setup that mounts on the wall. Goes up and down basically for around 25’. Then just have the smaller bulb style air filters before the gun. I tried a desiccant snake but didn’t work out the best

    • @PaulLehman
      @PaulLehman  Před rokem

      Thanks! The spray was a SEM can. I didnt like it as much as the 3M dry guide coat. I dont know if it didnt let it sit long enough or what but seemed to gum up the paper faster for some reason. not sure

    Hey man, how many sprayable gallons/liters of primer, paint, and clear did you end up using? Going to be repainting my rabbit inside and out this month. Not sure how much fluid to buy for it all.

    • @PaulLehman
      @PaulLehman  Před 3 měsíci

      Hey as far as primer... i used probably at least 2 gallons of Epoxy primer. I sprayed it on, did all my body work then covered all that with epoxy again.
      High build primer i only used about a gallon.
      Paint i bought 2 gallons sprayable, then bought another gallon to fix a few areas and to mix with bedliner. That provided 2 coats for good coverage. but depending on you color and what you are covering would make a difference.
      Clear i used alot more... I think i used 3 gallons total sprayable. I did 2 coats, sanded, then did 3-4 more. i wanted enought to cut and buff out my mistakes. Also it is a solid color so that is alot easier to fix things and blend if needed. if first paint job do a solid color for sure.
      Hope that helps. My color and clear were both 1:1 mixtures so that made things easier as far as buying things.

    dumb question but what is the black stuff you’re rubbing on the primer before sanding called?

    • @PaulLehman
      @PaulLehman  Před rokem +1

      not a dumb question. Its called "guide coat" its so you can see if you have any low spots or areas you missed sanding you need to fill or keep going. Helps a ton early on so you dont miss areas. Use it, sand it off then apply more before the next grit.
      3m powder kind is what i like using

    • @iambrandonpoo
      @iambrandonpoo Před rokem

      perfect. i figured it was used for that but never knew what it was called. gotta paint my caddy eventually and i’ll definitely be using your videos as a solid guide
