Snow Mountain & Rooster Comb - Keene Valley, New York | Winter Hiking the Adirondack High Peaks

- On 2/18/24 I had a blast hiking with family, Hannah and Matt, on our last full day in the Adirondacks on Presidents’ Day weekend! These 2 “little” peaks fit the bill nicely for a moderate loop of around 6.5 miles and 2500’ with some views.
The lake-effect snow squalls along with intermittent sun poking through made for some great shots, for the most part we were pretty sheltered but we did get blasted with sub-zero windchill on Rooster Comb.
I had never been up Snow before, but had been up a viewless Rooster Comb in a snowstorm with Ash a few years back. Was nice to get some views from the summit ledges this time! To boot, we were able to literally walk to the trailhead from Trail's End Inn in Keene Valley where we were staying, highly recommend this place!

Thanks for watching!!!
Nice video. Snow Mountain is a hidden gem in the Adirondacks. I’ve never done it winter. I hiked up the Deer Brook Trail, which was a beautiful route.
Thanks for watching! Cool, we were staying at Trail's End Inn and my sister-in-law and her boyfriend were staying at Rooster Comb so we were able to just walk over to the trailhead near the pond/school. I am guilty of not having checked out much other than the High Peaks themselves, I'm sure there must be a ton of these smaller mountains with fantastic views.
Nice hike! Great that you were able to stay on top of the snow for the most part. I’m ready for shoulder season to be over. 😊
Thanks!!! For sure, there was one section where we could've used them but it was pretty well broken out for the first 1/2 mile or so and we felt comfy leaving them. Lol I feel like this entire winter has been on and off shoulder season, wouldn't mind NOT wearing snowshoes or spikes soon...not gonna lie.
