- The number of people who visit Namdaemun Market, where the tradition and the present exist and is full of vitality, averages 300,000 people a day. Geographically, it is close to major buildings in Seoul such as Shinsegae Department Store and the Bank of Korea, as well as tourist attractions such as Jeongdong-gil, Myeong-dong, Namsan Tower, and Namsan Hanok Village, making it the most visited spot by foreigners visiting Seoul. People's visits start at Sungnyemun and head to stores that are close to 10,000.
There is even a saying that “If it is not in Namdaemun Market, there is nowhere in Seoul” and “Namdaemun Market has everything except cat horns”.
Namdaemun Market sells about 1,700 items necessary for daily life, including various clothing for children, men, and women, accessories, kitchenware, folk crafts, food, miscellaneous goods, and agricultural and marine products.
