When I was 14 my guitar instructor told me "If you want to be a great lead guitarist - you need to study the music of John Coltrane" and that started a journey that led to hearing Pharoah Sanders - I've been a fan for over 40 years, and today am listening in honor of his amazing life. RIP.
How can a piece be so haunting, yet so full of Grace? Pharoah maintains own lamp but can't help but keep Coltrane's fire burning. Sublime submission Alphonse Mefesto!
I`ve seen him once in Rotterdam and once in Leeds, where I`ve lived back then. And he was over 70, still playing in a good shape and doin` terrific shows on stage. A true Giant! probably the last one.
@@007meus Yes Pharoah is certainly amazing. I have also see Jon Lucien, Terry Callier and Bobby Womack a number of times. Sadly these are no longer with us now.
I‘am 50 Years old now and my first Album was Ballads from the John Coltrane Quartet. I was 16 Years old then. Pharoah Sanders is on the same Planet like John Coltrane His Music comes direct from your Creator. Pure Love Brother pure Love
The thing that's similar with Coltrane and Sanders is you can FEEL the deep spirituality coming forth from their souls...love is what it is!
I just said its all love, as I walked into another room, and came back for more...
