No lie Nelson always makes me get in my feels when they give him screen time. It never ends his life is just so sad nothing goes right for him so i am happy seeing him up for once.
I've always liked seeing characters that normally fail all the time succeed, like i was always mad that tom never catched jerry, that doof was always the loser..

As children we survived any way we knew how. But again as a new mother this just breaks my heart. Sure it’s a cartoon but I bet you there’s at least 10 kids on my block alone that experience this kind of lifestyle. Some mothers are trying and some mothers are not. This is why I always pay it forward ESPECIALLY if children are involved.
@@Thomas_420 I think the ones with Milhouse tend to be the really old ones, when Lisa and Nelson weren't really a thing yet, half of Milhouse's screen time was crushing on Lisa (which she was grossed out by), and their possible future together was always shown as a depressing hypothetical. Lisa dead inside and doing some tedious unfulfilling job, whilst Milhouse just basically becomes his dad (balding, overweight, a massive loser with no charisma or lifestyle to be proud of). It's always framed as Lisa's "bad ending"

I think this is an underrated couple tbh. It works so well. Nelson has never been shown love before, he feels worthless and like he's doomed to be a bad person. Lisa has endless compassion and believes nobody is 'doomed' to be bad, she's intelligent and can see the good in him where others would ignore it, and I think being able to be that change for someone would be immensely rewarding to her; she wants so badly to make a difference for people who are suffering and it'd bring her so much joy to love someone she can inspire every day - that'd inspire *her* in return, and a relationship where they're changing and becoming better together would ultimately help both of them in ways they deeply need. Lisa's issue is that she has such a strong desire to make big changes and be morally good and helpful, but her family isn't able to nurture her potential - it can be very difficult for an average family that isn't super rich to support a child prodigy, especially if the district they're in has a shoddily run school. So being with someone who needs her in a way that plays to *her* strengths would make her feel like she is exercising her potential and giving to the relationship something only she can. And Nelson would finally feel appreciated and hopeful about his cursed life, he'd start to get the experience of feeling good because he *is* good. Not being treated like a 'bad guy' who doesn't deserve anything more than what he already suffers through. It's actually adorable and leagues better than the boring relationship between Lisa and Millhouse.

Nelson reminds me of the content creators that start going viral by giving life advice and talking about their time in prison but use that success to eventually go into business for themselves, spending time developing their passion projects and then giving back to their community. It's possible people. Never give up on your dreams.
