Typically, you will hear people say, that there are two primary rules of Wiccan ethics. The first are the Wiccan Rede and you harm none, do what you will. Which basically is saying you're free and you have the responsibility, you know, they go together. You are free to do as you wish but you cannot harm another. Not another person, another. Which means the Earth, it means an animal. So this is an interesting questions and a very difficult thing, especially these days to do.
But it makes you mindful, right? What are my actions? Are my actions doing harm? Am I walking softly upon the Earth, which is from the Native American. Or am indifferent, am I oblivious? Am I doing the equivalent of throwing my garbage out the window of my car as I drive down the highway? What are the consequences of my actions? I have to be responsible and do no harm.
And, of course, that leads to questions about vegetarianism and all sorts of things. But the essence of it is, I'm free to do as I will as long as I do no harm. So requires you to be attentive to your actions and be responsible for them.
The second principle you hear all the time is, 'And the reason that we don't do harm is because of the Three-Fold law.' Which essentially was, according to Doreen Valente who was Gardner's partner, made up by Gerald Gardner who had spent some time in India and who understood the principal of Karma. What you send out will essentially return to you. Which is a law of physics. What you do. Cause and effect. Okay.
But he took it and make it a law that went beyond that. The Three-Fold law. So, in other words, I won't do something bad. I won't cast a spell that's negative or harmful or I won't do baneful magic or hex anybody, these old terms, because something worse will happen to me. It will come back to me three times over. That drove me crazy from the very beginning. What, with being a lawyer, having majored in ethics, it drove me crazy. It was just, it didn't make sense in terms of the laws of physics. It's not the way nature works and this is a nature-based religion.
And as I thought about it, I realized it's punishment. Essentially, what he was doing was saying, 'I won't do something bad because if I do, something worse will happen to me.' That's punishment. And that's not appropriate. It's not necessary. And shouldn't necessary and it's not appropriate for a spiritual path, a religion, in which the world is sacred. In which the divine is everywhere present. It is necessary to have the threat of punishment and have rules and laws of that sort when God isn't present in the world.
You have the Ten Commandments. You have the Bible. You have of all these laws and strictures that accompany the Abrahamic faith because God is not present in the world. He created the world. He's gone. He's transcended. He's in heaven. He's not here. He left a rulebook. And we can all see how well we've been doing with the rulebook.
The threat of Hell, the threat of punishment, these are not the foundations for ethical conduct. It's based on self interest and avoiding pain. That's not ethics. Ethics is much more profound. It has a much more, a much deeper and more profound motivation.
True ethical behavior comes from the realization and the experience of the innate divinity, of the worth of the world that you live in. Of the other person that you are dealing with. Of the animal that is at your mercy. Of the planet that is also, now, very much at our mercy.
When you live in a sacred world you don't need a law, a threat of punishment to do the right thing. You do it because you understand that the divine dwells within you and in others. And so what is the promise to you then? It's respect, it's gratitude, it's care. And it is responsibility.
So I'm completely convinced that the true ethical norm for all the pagan traditions that are all essentially pantheistic, or pananthestic, that understand that creation is the expression of divinity.
The ethic is very simple. We live in a sacred world. We live in a sacred universe. And so we seek to live in a sacred manner. And it's the Earth that teaches us what that means.

Respect, Reverence & Responsibility. To have respect for those you don't like and those you do, respect for the way things work and the order of things and most importantly respect for yourself. To be appreciative and show gratitude, give thanks and admire the gifts you have been blessed with. To be mindful that your actions don't just affect yourself, so you should be considerate and courteous when making big decisions... being aware that even though its your life, your choices may impact someone else's.
"The ethic is very simple; we live in a sacred world, a sacred universe, so we seek to live in a sacred manner and its the earth that teaches us what that means" - beautifully put :)

It is about respecting those who do not understand...My thinking comes from the strong connection I have with Kemet...Which is why I consider myself Eclectic or Kemetic Wiccan...I am early in my path so I always accept criticism...But for some reason most other religions not pointing at the any specific ones but most I have encountered personally...Do not accept criticism...But I will not allow that to change my heart and my beliefs

All clips resonate with me soo much..
I just lead myself by my own true... That only comes from my experience... I can read plenty of books but than I would just believe it.. It would not classified to me as my true as it was not my experience
I accept all different trues.. From individuals experiences..
To me true is only word.. I call it level of my own awareness I can only understand that much I am aware of in this time and space in this moment.. .. For than it is my perception= my understanding=my true
I see signs very often.. Only now there was beauty add before your video saying... "you ask, we deliver" ♥️
I have conversation with divine / myself all the time.. By going within and keep digging deeper asking more and more questions until I have ahaaa moment.. And I see clearly and finaly understand in bigger picture what I been asking!
Your teachings are beautiful.. But than only today I did find out such group of people have name.. 😊

Very well said. Bravo! I was born into the Catholic faith and it took a long time for me to shed the Catholic affliction and to break the chains because I was taught that I was bad and I was a sinner. Their views towards women, their control of women and their inability to accept people who live different life styles, will be the death of them because they have not evolved, in an evolving world. I am now a happy Wiccan and I feel free.

I like this video, but the one thing is, according to Christian belief, God is omnipresent meaning he is everywhere at all times, at least that’s the belief. Whether you personally believe that is a different topic, but the religion itself states that God is present in earth and in heaven and so forth.

What if you're intent by cursing an individual, is to stop the harm caused by that individual? What if, that in fact, was an act of protecting innocent life? I'm a pacifist but I think self defense and defending those whom cannot defend themselves is appropriate. Just my take on things. Not wiccan, though Seax Wiccans are very interesting to me. I do believe in the three fold law and karma though. Just think to ignore suffering that one could potentially alleviate by neutralizing a evil person, could also bring negative repercussions to a practitioner of magick.

If we're going to go deeper into MY reasoning I have to say that insurance is by no means innocent and collect money from most all of us and keep taking and if so called neighbor found a way to actually gain back without ppl interfering the get er done.

FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD JESUS CHRIST, WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE IN HEAVEN FOREVER AND EVER. John 3:16 Bible....THE RAINBOW THRONE OF SON OF GOD JESUS CHRIST AND THE TREE OF LIFE, Revelation 4 and Revelation 22 Bible. And whoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Revelation 20 bible.... I SAW A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
