- The Sd.Kfz. 234 was a armoured car designed and built in Germany during World War II.
The Sd.Kfz. 234 was developed in the early 40s and were based on the earlier Sd.Kfz. 231/232/233 (8-Rad) and keeping the experience of fast-moving, hard-hitting wheeled reconnaissance vehicles during the early invasions of Poland and France in mind.
The first trials with the prototype started around July, 1942. Due to problems with the excessive noise of the first engine, a second model was developed, the Tatra 103.
The vehicle had eight-wheel steering and was able to quickly change direction thanks to a second, rear-facing, driver's seat
The vehicles were lightly armoured, armed with a 20, 50 or 75 mm main gun, and powered by a Tatra V12 diesel engine.
■ Sd.Kfz. 234/2, had a turret armed with a 5 cm L/60 gun, which was originally intended for the VK 1602 Leopard light tank. It was produced from late 1943 to mid 1944.
■ Sd.Kfz. 234/1, had a simpler open turret Hängelafette 38) armed with a 2 cm KwK 38 gun, it was manufactured from mid 1944 to early 1945.
■ Sd.Kfz. 234/3, served as a support vehicle for the reconnaissance vehicles. It had an open-topped superstructure, in which a short-barreled 7.5 cm K51 L/24 gun was installed.
■ Sd.Kfz. 234/4, which replaced the L/24 gun with the 7.5 cm L/46 PaK 40. This was yet another attempt to increase the mobility of this anti-tank gun. however, the 234 chassis was stretched to its limits. This variant was manufactured from the end of 1944 to the end of hostilities in 1945.
■ As WW2 entered its final stages the ever resourceful German units on the ground, starved of supplies, turned to using whatever was at hand.
Most likely this example is a field modification serving with the 20 Pz.Div Hungary April 1945. The recovery of a 234/2 body and a turret from a damaged Panzer II Ausf. L Luchs resulted in this enigmatic but simple field conversion.

I just love the puma by far my favorite land vehicle of world war 2
Me to
Me too.
Best designs...waaaay ahead of their time...the 234 and its predecessors were wicked!
This series of 8x8 fighting vehicles imo are some of the most incredible vehicles of dubbya dubbya two . Great footage , thank you for sharing this .
Thank you very much for your work.
You're welcome.
I built a couple of Airfix models of these as a lad, always had fondness for them since then.
When I was 6 I built my first cobi set and it was the Puma thats why I love the vehicle so much
Very nice video. Thank you! German Amored cars were amazing. 😊
First was the Puma...now we have the Stryker. USA thought enough of it that they made their own version.
Totally Cool vehicle
Thank you for the historical prospective.
Excellent, as always.
Great video!
Bei 2.53 ist ein 234 mit 2cm Turm vom Luchs zu sehen! Sehr selten!
I noticed that as well. Keen eyes!
So unfortunate to see so many of these rare vehicles knocked out beyond restoration
Bro in coh all these vehicles are my favorite thank you for uploading such video

You're welcome.
Best armored car by far. Even the Americans are amazed of them.
puma is one of my favorite tanks in enlisted. more powerful , faster , more agile , and deadly . very suitable for normandy map which is very full of forest
Thanks a lot i'm making a scale diorama based on the second footage
Happy modeling.
2:16 yummieeee...says the motorist..
The turret on this looks like the little brother of the Tiger 2 turret.
Wiki: The first and possibly best known version was the Sd.Kfz. 234/2; it had a turret armed with a 5 cm L/60 gun, which was originally intended for the VK 1602 Leopard light tank. It was produced from late 1943 to mid 1944.
Very interesting footage as always! Out of curiosity this column of Sd.Kfz Sd.Kfz. 234/2 and some other variants of the Sd.Kfz 234 that surrendered to the US troops, was it in Czechoslovakia? It had a turret armed with a 5 cm L/60 gun. It was a very good vehicle, fast and quite reliable and was powered with the Tatra 103 air-cooled that developed 210 hp. It was a very interesting 8 all wheeled and all steerable, without any doubts it is one of my favourite AFV! Thanks for sharing this footage 👍👍
Indeed that's Czechoslovakia.
It hurts to see those beautiful Vehicles as loot for the Conquerors...❤ peace , it's only kidding
👍
Nice
Do you have videos of arty firing and concentrating fire in one point?
I have some.
At 1:37, there appears to be a turret-less Puma with an open top 2 cm gun! (Second Puma in line.) A field mod? What German division was this? There were only enough 234/2's to equip the 2nd, 8th, 20th, Panzer-Lehr and 1st SS panzer division.
Very Kool Katzen ' around 94' didn't they revamp Puma from Aberdeen? Advanced...
PLEASE, I need one
It shows that the German had good fighting vehicles too.
What is CZcams restricting now? Simple historical footage even?
They restrict weapons content and seem to hit weapon sounds. And of course historical content that's shocking, like horrific, violent and things like the Holocaust, but of course that has nothing to do with my channel.
*Versailles Treaty:* Germany can't have tanks
*Germany:* _[laughs in heavily-armed wheeled armored vehicle]_
Are there any pumas left in the world?
Sadly no.
CZcams is becoming self aware 😂😂😂
Do you have a BitChute channel for safety?
Bitshute deleted my channel. They are even worse then YT.
@@PanzerInsight Really? How about Odyssey?
The whole series of these vehicles were referred to as Puma by crewmen it was not just the 234/2 called that.
Too bad the history took a different turn 😢
Not much actual puma footage
Only more than half the video is Puma footage.
