For those who want to try and smooth out your own lines: the trick is to lock your wrist and fingers, then use a combination of elbow and shoulder movement. Smaller joint (wrist, fingers) = finite control (good for details, bad for smoothness)= jittery lines. You can certainly get smoother lines with practice as well, but this method will make an immediate immediate improvement and subsequent practice will have a more pronounced effect.

'r' shouldn't have a loop. the 's' is an uppercase, not a lowercase. and finally, the 't' should not have open loop for upright, but a single up/down line. This is being nitpicky a bit, but if you put these together into a word, it would be fairly illegible because of the inconsistencies and wouldn't look uniform.
You can tell he’s accustomed to writing Japanese. The perfect shape and proportion of the curves in these letters is very reminiscent of beautifully written hiragana.

aからzまで、すべて一筆書きで書く(ｉjの点とtの横線xの斜め線は後から書く)練習を中学生の時に凄くしたので、基本的に次の文字に自然に繋げられない書き方はしないのが筆記体です。
筆記体にも様々な種類があるのかは知らないですけどね。
モダンスタイルなんだと思います。海外でもいろんな筆記体のスタイルがあってどれも素敵で筆記体は一つのスタイルだけではないです。日本語のフォントも同じですね
