I watched a show that a family uses the water they boil food with only that which has no salt added you can use as fertilizer. The plants love it

That's a Cicada casing on the Canna plant. It hatched out of its shell to the adult cicada

Hi, your plants probably needs more watering depending on how much sun is hitting it. Look up the term “olla”. You can plug up the hole of a Terra cotta pot and bury it in areas of your bed. This will slowly release water to your plants even in the extreme heat. Water your plants in the morning and again in the evening or set up a drip system.
Bury your kitchen scraps in your beds. This will help feed you cucumber, “zucchini squash”, yellow squash, tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers which are all heavy feeders.
When you pick weeds or cut off leaves throw them back in your beds or around the plants because as it decays it feeds your plants.
You can get some great ideas from a CZcams channel called Robbie and Gary. I live near ATL area. So these tips are some of the things O do in my garden.

The sun is definitely roasting our plants and seem to be stunting their growth. Thanks for the advice.

Spiders are protectors for your plants. You have a lot of land space. Use it wisely. Just ran into your channel. Lots to learn

we been having a lot of hot hot weather here, idk about you all. But squash, like a lot of water, but at the same time they don't like to have their roots soaked either. they're so temperamental (the vining type) Shade cloth would probably help you out. Vine borers are also evil little things. BT is what you can use to inject in the stem to kill them, and you dig them out. then cover the stem in soil. wherever zucchini, or squash hit the ground, they can root in (just like the sweet potato vine) and sometimes that will prolong life, even if swash borers get to them. You can also use sevin dust. (keep in mind the spray, and the dust isn't organic by any means). Hope that helps you out. Tin foil sometimes help, also staking zucchini and squash or trellising them so they are trained to grow up can help too. I use tomato cages for my bush type zucchin, and trellis my vining squash. Best of luck, and also, your baby is just super adorable!!!!!

oh, one more thing, worm castings, are good for potatoes, you can just sprinkle some on tops of the potato seed when you plant them in. they love it.

You guys are doing great. Look like you need to fertilize your garden. Water when it's cool. Late evening or early morning.

Oh yeah, try dressing your raised beds with your compost. That means to place a top coat of compost around all of your plants and at the base of each plant. Make sure you fertilize too. The Fish Fertilizer from WalMart is really good for your plants.
The “all male flowers” is a sign that your plant may be stressed. Doing those things I mentioned may help. You can also remove the flowers so that the plant can focus on growing a bit more instead of focusing on flowering.

You are doing great, once the growing season is over, you need to work on building up your soil, it is severely deficient.

Also, is that your 'Native Clay Soil' you're using as a growing medium in your beds? It is EXTREMELY HARD for veggies to grow in Clay soil. _Homestead Heart_ is in Georgia, you might want to check out their videos. I have several videos from Homesteaders who plant in 'Clay Soil' in a _playlist titled 'Southern Planting'_ that you might find _helpful._

I pray you all can take advice because you could use it not being negative but I really want you to succeed and you seemed to have a lot of question your soil may not have enough nutrients you have nice beds but pine needles may not be what you need it can make your soil to much acid do some research your corn is not planted correctly you are beginners you can goggle and get a lot of information I will be watching and supporting your channel but you do have the will and that's what's I like keep farming

You need to water much DEEPER. You appear to be just watering the top few inches of your soil which means your plant roots are not getting the amount of water they need. I would watch some CZcams 'Homesteading' videos and you'll get alot of 'free' information that will benefit your garden.

I'm in Stone Mountain. What part of Georgia are you in? The heat and humidity is slowing crops down. Alot of mine are struggling. I'm going to use a sheet as a shade cloth to see if my young starts do better with some protection. Last year my peppers really started fruiting in the fall when the heat and humidity went down.

😂😂😂😂 squash flower make and female description was hilarious. The male flower is a straight stem with a flower on top. The female flower has the body (shape) of the fruit with the flower on top of it. All flowers have what u called a penis 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's the pollen stem❤

Hello! I love to see people/ families starting to garden. I love all the questions, the same ones I asked when starting. Not all bush beans are string beans. There are stringless beans which I prefer. The two varieties are bush and pole beans. Pole beans need a trellis. But both have string beans and stringless varieties. Your potatoes need more time. You can still hill them now. Hill them when you see potatoes so it gives them room to grow bigger. Looks like you need to fertilize more. Hubby don't be afraid to get in there. They also grow downward. Best wishes and keep growing!
