For the pressure and stress you’re under in class and OJT……the pay should easily $300 day with OT after 8 hours!! And to take some of the stress out of learning the job,the probationary period should start day 1 and NOT after you mark up and on your own!! C’mon NS,BN,UP and CSX,y’all have to be more forgiving and realistic!! Stay safe new hires,SLOW DOWN,but be efficient!! And that Hog head or conductor that’s training you, don’t allow them to rush you for working a little slower. They don’t sign your paycheck, they’re not your friend and if something happens to you they sure as hell won’t pay your bills nor allow you to live with them.

That information has been floating around for years and it may or may not happen. The only thing you can actually control is staying safe and taking home a paycheck to your family. Sure, you can use that info & not take the job at all, or quit if you are already an employee but in reality if you plan to quit or don’t work for the company anymore, why would they listen to you and more importantly, why do you care? If you are in a union and this concerns you…show up to meetings, lobby the c suite, go ham! The guys and girls in my community are simply looking to create a better life for themselves and need help getting through the onboarding and training process. That’s what I help them with. After that it’s up to them and their family to decide whether or not it’s right for them. I will never deprive interested candidates of their ability to try. There is a reason that I don’t do current events and news stories around here. It does not help current employees or potential candidates get started in or further their rail career. The only reason I announced this info is because it’s the first small win in a long time in a sea of negativity spread by employees that are always bitching but the thought of quitting has never even entered their brain. It is about letting them know that their is finally a little bit more money heading their way for their hard earned work and sacrifice to this career and their family. 👍🏻🚂

That is excellent! Good for their new guys and glad to see that they are working on fair wages. NS is always slow rolling and the last hold out. They won’t make a single change until CSX does because we compete for the same talent pool on this side of the country. The only reason they made the bump in this video is because CSX went to 100% guarantee paid for new hires instead of 75% with a 5% annual increase

  • @DryBonesOutdoors

I just recently accepted a job offer from CSX and it stated that the average pay for the first year of a new hire is $93,000, but it said that after school my pay would be $2822 bi-weekly. That doesn't add up to 93k. It also stated that the guaranteed extra board pay after OJT would be somewhere around $2300 bi-weekly. Is that added to the $2822? Or does that mean that is my guaranteed pay for being on the extra board and I don't get called out? Just a little confused on how the pay works. Maybe someone can help me understand and is 93k a reality?
