‘It was so packed’: Houston area hospitals see increase in storm-related visits

- Monday morning, after Hurricane Beryl hit Texas’ coast, a Pasadena woman - who does not want to be identified - like millions lost power. She was also running out of oxygen in her tanks.
The mother of two has congestive heart failure, enlarged heart and pulmonary embolism.
“By Monday night I was out of oxygen,” she said. “I managed to call the ambulance with one percent [on her phone] and give my address to them before it hung up.”
What'd I tell yall....its only gonna get worse!!! Get ready Houston!!

People was in hallways instead of a regular rooms and one hospital people have been in some lobbies it was something out of a movie.

I work in the medical field and the reason why hospitals are so packed is because some people don’t want to be at home with no AC, even when they have no medical complaint, they’ll make it up just to be there. It sucks for those that need to be there.
If you are on oxygen don’t leave the hospital until you get a generator and fuel 😢
Should have done that before the storm hit. It’s called hurricane season for a reason.
Most of these people are of low income and have no resourses to prepare ahead of time. My oxygen machine at home is $418.00 a month. Fortunely I can afford that but most people can't. They need all the help they can get.@toosense

Losing power after a hurricane is nothing new, it’s to be expected. If you are on medical equipment that requires electricity it is your personal responsibility to have a generator or alternative method of power to sustain your health.

It’s not to be expected for 2 million people after a category 1 hurricane . They hit Florida all the time and they never have issues like Houston
@@bns434 we just had a bunch of flooding from thunderstorms right before the hurricane, so the ground is saturated. Now we are having more thunderstorms so that’s going to cause delays.
@@carriemccurley-th8gn hurricane preparedness exists for a reason. Every nursing home and hospital should have back up generators. Has nothing to do with emotional arguments, it’s just fact and logic. We get hurricanes and power outages all the time, sometimes just from bad thunderstorms.
I bet these CEOs are sleeping really well at night in their marble beds and have their AC with filtered oxygen and golden bathtubs while us plebeians can pay our bills and rot in hell
