I always envisioned my husband and I having a close relationship with the in-laws of our married children,..but it didn’t work out this way unfortunately. This must be something that is rare I guess. But,.. we do have a great closeness with our grandchildren and a love like no other in the world. Yes,..those grand babies are going to be the luckiest and I’m sure will be well cared for with much love!❤️
The moment 'mama' finds out she's a 'grandma' to be, the stars realign for her & her world is never the same. Both our mom's are gone now, both far too soon. But our kids hit the Grandma Lotto x 2 while they were still here. We all felt that way from day one. Our first child was THE first grandchild for both of them, and they were pure joy to watch from that day on. They'd playfight over who's turn it was to babysit, etc. Spoiled them all, and we let them. Mostly 🤣. Wouldn't change a thing, unless we could have kept them longer. Love youse, Moms. Your 'babies' are all healthy, happy & remember you both at your best. AND... most of them have little ones of their own now. "You done good"...
I know how you feel. I had the best in-laws ever. I’ve wanted to be just like them, too. Sadly with our son having two divorces fairly quickly, I didn’t get the opportunity. I can say, his first wife whom he shares a child with, I love as my own child. She’s remarried to the nicest, sweetest guy whom we love and we were invited to the wedding and whenever I go up for a visit, I’m always invited over to spend many nights with them. They know just as our regular family knows, that if they need me for anything, I’ll jump in the car and drive 9 hours to be with them and nurse them or our grandchild back to healthy. They drive to us, just to visit.

I have 2 year old twin granddaughters and a 5 year old grandson and they are the best, most precious babies I've ever been blessed with. Being a mother is wonderful. But, I can honestly say there's no better job in this world than being a grandmother. My daughter has her hands full and when she needs a break, my husband and myself take the kids for a night or 2.
