Perfect Cell - The BEST Written Villain?

- When looking at the Cell Saga beyond the surface, it becomes apparent that Cell is much more fleshed out than people give him credit for. Is he possibly one of the best written villains in DB? (I could say he's the PERFECT villain, but that's corny)

Cell is definitely the most “honorable” and dignified villain in the saga despite him being a murderous sociopath.
He gives Vegeta a chance to shine once he obtains his perfect form.
He gives Trunks some tips during fighting, like how brute strength is meaningless if you’re sacrificing speed (which foreshadows his demise with Gohan).
He’s ready to kill Trunks, but decides to ask him how he got so strong so quickly and instead decides to let him and everyone else train for ten more days so it can be a fair fight. *And* he keeps his word.
He compliments and praises Goku for his skills and tactics when they fight in his tournament.
He pushes Gohan to his max power because he sees potential in him, and ofc that doesn’t go well for him.
Idk villains like that are just really interesting. “I may be a piece of shit but at least I have standards.”
This is why I've always thought that resurrecting Frieza and not Cell is so pointless and fanservicey in Super
If they had to resurrect one villain that would be willing to help to test his strength, it would be Cell. The way they are handling Frieza in Super is so out of character for him, but they had Cell right in front of them.

Cell was basically a one time antagonist, while Frieza keeps coming back.
Dbza made Frieza into more of a psychopath and I think if he was originally that evil he would be the best villain

@@exorsus7275 nah, I have to disagree. The Androids dont have an interesting motive or goals. They are pretty cool but they work much better as minor antagonists rather than the main villain. Cell is the best villain in DBZ because he isnt one-dimensional like Frieza and has a very interesting backstory

Cell was made by the Red Ribbon Army, had Piccolo's cells, Vegeta's cells, and Frieza's cells, and absorbed the androids.
He is LITERALLY the culmination of everything Goku has fought for up until that point, and so it's only fitting how the product of all of the villainy thus far is defeated by the product of Goku's fighting spirit: Gohan.
It also focuses on the idea of Goku finding a successor, being Gohan, who is forced into beating the representation of the past generation.
true but cell himself is meh...freeza vegeta and boo had better personalities to me...cell just feels boring
It's true, this was the perfect tribute for goku if you think about it. Cell has all the cells of all the strongest opponents goku defeated, on top of that, it even does a DragonBall style fighting tournament. Something goku was an expert in, probably the last true martial arts style fight in DragonBall z before everyone started blowing up planets. Also, everyone in this saga shined. Tien shined, piccolo shined, vegeta shined, Android 17 and 16 shined, etc. Everyone had there moments until gohan left everyone in the dust. It would have been a great conclusion for gokus life, and moving on to gohan. Great saga regardless though.
Even Gero didn’t bother putting in emperor Pilaf’s cells. He’s that forgotten 💀
@@aetherialbeing4223 i always see db in a different way like king piccolo up to freiza were the first-generation enemies then cell and the androids are the second then buu and babidi are the 3rd (1st includes the original db cast and Vegeta after the Saiyan saga 2nd is Gohan future trunks and 3rd is Gohan goten trunks and kinda pan)
I like cell because he doesn’t kill people immediately he keeps a promise like waiting 10 days for the tournament and he can manipulate people and push others to new forms

mr satan and 16 add to the depth of cell...without them maybe hes not the best but those 2 looking back add some needed scenes and worldbuilding to that gohan vs cell fight that is very vital looking back

Cell introduction might have been a reverse of Vegeta’s. Vegeta was traduced eating a bug man talking to Nappa, and blowing up a planet, cell was caught drinking a man, chatting it up with piccolo, and destroying entire towns leaving them as dead, and lifeless as the planet Vegeta destroyed.
Frieza and Cell are indeed the main 2 greatest villains in the entire Dragon Ball franchise with Frieza being more popular than Cell because we simply got to see more of him and the fact we get to know a lot more about him as well.
Correct me if I'm wrong but frieza is the villain we've seen the least backstory for. *Jiren* has shown more of his backstory than frieza

@@nlc2566 yes but we dont even know if he *has* a race. Is it just frieza, king cold, and cooler? If he does have people we just dont know he does. Jiren, who's notoriously clowned on for having a bad backstory, has his backstory about there being an evil being who slaughtered all his people except for him. Then due to childhood trauma he needs to get immensely stronger. If you asked me, I'd have to say jiren has the much superior backstory
Cell is a smart villain. He made earth create an entire martial arts for him. He was just like Goku that and wanted to fight and get stronger.

Salad I'd like to hear what you think, but what I personally thought would have been cool to see is him be an anti-hero. Hear me out what if he really just wanted to have a good fight and tournament. Didn't try to blow up the world instead just fight them. Like Vegeta tho be reserved afterwards and not immediately join them, but also something like Piccolo and go out by himself in the wild. Questioning himself and if he should really listen to Dr. Gero's programming and instead be his own person.

I don't even know what this could do but all I remember is Whis visited right before Raditz, and he got Goku away from namek when it was exploding 🏃🛸

The Goku Vs Cell fight literally felt like a play-date. When Goku gave up, you can even see the disappointment in Cell’s face.

The reason why Cell become so rage with Gohan was not because of he's a hypocrite.
It was because the fact that he believes he was perfect, that Goku is the only one who can compare to him, Gohan humiliated his faith and dignity.

The different between Cell and other main villain in DBZ is that he himself is a master of martial arts.
Frieza or Buu just fight with their body naturally, while Cell know various martial arts just like Goku and the others, he's not a monster you can defeat with power alone, thus make the fight between him and Goku become so cool, because they're not just fighting with ki beam, but compare their martial arts skill to each other also.

Cell, specifically Imperfect Cell, was the true reason I started liking dragon ball as a kid. Upon learning about him more as I got older, I find this villain better than Frieza in my eyes. Frieza is a great villain but Imperfect Cell gave me a fright as a kid, and that's when I knew Cell was my favorite villain.
A character analysis series sounds like a great idea to have in case you get bored of what if scenarios.
My fav villain in all of DB. Cells character and design is genius and a perfectly twisted foil to Goku and the others. He loves fighting and testing his limits but unlike Goku has an insatiable lust for power and inflicting terror onto people for his own amusement and sees everyone else as inferior.

Still my favorite Villain to this day with Goku Black, Baby, and Cooler right behind him. While the Saiyan & Frieza Saga will always be considered the best, Cell and his saga will always be my favorite of all Dragon Ball.
Frieza is my favourite villain and Cell I'd say a very close 2nd favorite if you watch Cell carefully he displays characteristics of various other characters especially when he scoffed Vegeta by putting his finger to his lip something Frieza does often, and the he says Super Vegeta and laughs maliciously like Vegeta's fight on Namek against final form Frieza, I always wondered what he inherited from Cold aside from his similar looks, hight and the obvious ability to breathe in space

YES I’ve been thinking this for years so it’s great to see a youtuber take a closer look at Cell sharing the worst aspects of Goku and Vegeta. I really think Cell should have been in the Tournament of Power rather than Frieza. I mean the TOP is basically just the Cell Games on a way bigger scale and it’s Goku’s fault so having Cell would have allowed for more introspection on Goku’s flaws rather than brushing them off. Since he has the DNA of so many heroes I also think there’s a greater chance of him turning a new leaf than Frieza. It wouldn’t have made sense for Cell to be strong enough but it didn’t make much sense for Frieza either. This was a great video so please do more like this

Cell also had a lot of potential in power if he continued to live on. He could have the god ki Super Saiyan forms from Goku and Vegeta's DNA, and the Golden form from Frieza. If he was able to stack those forms, he would be incredibly powerful.

Cell is the most busted villain. He had the potential of freiza , strength of Saipan’s , durability of nameks. He is absurdly overpowered
I think Cells personality is more realistic cause it's closer to what a real personality should be like!
