- A quick look at the Texas Instruments TI-74 Basicalc Pocket Computer from 1985. Includes a benchmark, a look at the chips and a quick tour of it.
These had some market success in Germany for sales reps for insurance companies. Its kinda compareable in size to the Sharp PC-1500 but faster and was at the time cheaper, but definately cost reduced in details. It succeeded the CC40 (Compact Computer 40) but shared the 8-bit MPU architecture.

Thanks for the video: I used a TI-74 from the mid 80's to the late 90's. I still have it. It was a great machine to program in.
Nice I have the same device also one that was used by an insurance "Allianz". I also have an cc40 that came from a similar insurance. They both nice little machines. Greatings from germany
Thank you, yes I appreciate these small basic computers. They are easy to have a collection of. The software on mine is labeled "ML90 - Magdeburger Versicherunggruppe", I would guess a smaller competitior to Allianz.
@@KJohanssonthat's funny my cc40 is from Magdeburger. Back in the 80s I had the cheapest of the casios with 1k of ram and an 4bit cpu i used it in school and non of the teachers knew it was basic programmable
Same here, I had the FX4000p looked like a calc, But I could store formulas and everything in it.

Is that one worth anything today? I want to sell ti-74s, can you tell me na average price?
50-75 euros I would guess. I payed 60 for mine including shippment and its in very good condition.

There is a contrast wheel on the right hand side.
