I’ve try doing this as a hobby and man it was hard to keep the dust off the tracks so you’ve must have spent a lot of time on this so good job
It’s definitely tough. Constant track cleaning is absolutely necessary for great running conditions and also for filming videos. You don’t want the train to stall out when you’re filming that key scene lol (This has happened many times)

John R Don't be surprised if Amtrak has go in the hole, I have a friend who was on his way to Frisco and the train he was onset on a siding in Nevada for a couple hours while a peddler frt worked the industries.Switching done it went on its way and then so did his train.The problem isn't Amtrak but some hard headed people in Congress who think that wood is still used to fire the loco.(sarcasm intended).

I would like to model Ho scale but just not enough room. So N scale i am but i love these big layouts
There is only one explanation to keep a passenger train waiting for a freight to pass: ahead in the route both trains take different paths and the line for passenger is blocked otherwise, always people is more important than freight and because passenger trains pick up more speed than freight and will catch the manifest soon.
I don't know how familiar you are with Amtrak but since most lines are owned by the freight companies they get to decide the priorities. I have had my train put in the hole for Norfolk Southern and CSX trains. If you're on the Northeast Corridor it's a different story because Amtrak owns the track and they can put NS trains and commuter trains like MARC, SEPTA, and NJ transit in the hole while Regionals and Acelas are lined through.

Why did Amtrak have to wait for a coal train.
It had to wait in the siding because when it stops, the coal train got closer, so it decided to head on the siding because it wouldn't have to deal with the coal train getting closer to the Amtrak.
Exactly! The Amtrak had a station stop and wanted to let the coal train pass so that the station stop would not cause a backup. This siding is the last siding before the station that can fit this length of train.
