In the Sabaton History episode they discuss when the Germans built the ship, they discussed among themselves that the ship was so majestic, nothing less than "He" would fit as a descriptor. Also, it is named after German chancellor Otto von Bismarck. Common mistake, though, so I get why you'd write this. Nothing personal dude!

Are you sure this was the reasoning?
That would require some weird sexist logic to count as an arguement. Namely the assumption that women are less majestetic than men. To most it is actually the other way round.
According to the german wiki you are in so far correct that the captain decided it would be referred to as male. Iam not to sure about the reasoning though. Id assume they did this to honor chancelor Bismarck and for the reason that a warship rather has "male personality" than a female. What ever the reasoning behind it it is still gramatically incorrect to refer to a ship as male, if you are speaking german.
(Afaik there is one exception to that: Der Imperator)
At least I have a vague idea now why Sabaton decided to make the ship male.
