Spray paint your old aluminum window for under $20

A quick guide to spray painting an old aluminium window for less the $20 in under 2 hours.
1. Lightly sand any wooden frame work you want to paint, then clean off any dust.
2. Use cling film to cover the glass and then mask all the edges.
3. Using your spray paint colour and brand of choice (I highly recommend Rust-Oleum) spray all wood and aluminium. hold can approximately 30cm away in an upright position. use long strokes and try not to spray too heavily to avoid runs.
4. Once touch dry, touch up any areas you've missed and give a full second coat if it's a well used window.
5. Once touch dry again, remove masking and cling film.

Great idea with cling wrap, will have to try that method. Recently done my aluminum windows (exterior) but used paper to mask (was very tedious with prep work than actual application of spray paint). The only difference I had to you was I used Dulux metal etch primer prior to spraying it in colour.

Looks like you have mostly awning windows. Did you do this on any slider windows and if so, does the paint scrape off where the windows slide against eachother in the track?

Yes but it's more work and you wont get as smooth a finish

You need to be using a respirator when handling spray paint, not a cloth mask.
