Love the rock lined flower beds. I especially like anything with curved , meandering borders. The two pots on the porch are stunning, with your combination of plants, textures and colors! Love the round obelisk on top. I do have two of them, and love styling them. Being here in California, my geraniums stay in the ground all year, and grow up to 7 feet high! I have to whack them back at least 3 times a year, and just break off pieces and stick them in any dirt and they propagate easily. I have never tried hostas, but yours are really inspiring me.
I live in Illinois too. I take my seed geraniums out of the pots in the fall and get the dirt off the roots the put upside down in a paper bag and staple it shut. Then I put them in the basement for the winter. They are flowing and doing great. Love your garden.
Autumn Clematis can become a true nightmare. I’m in the Piedmont region of NC. In my yard there’s a clematis sprout probably every 12” inches in every direction you look. It’s also growing in my pasture. It was definitely beautiful when I was growing it but it’s not worth the trouble it’s causing, at least in my area. Your big pots are gorgeous!!!
Thank you Carolyn! I love that area too! Can you believe that cost me nothing this year because I overwinter all of them in my basement!? Thanks a lot for watching!
Beautiful! Your yard is such a tranquil retreat! Thank you for taking the time to explain what is happening with various plants. I'm pretty new to landscaping the past two years and it was very helpful to hear all you had to share!
Hi Deanna! 💕🪴 Your gardens are glorious. The rocks really added beauty too! I love your arrangements on the porch with the coleus. My coral bells always come back. I have a Carmel too. Love your forget me nots. Thanks for the beautiful videos. And all that you teach us! 🫶🌺🪴🌸🌼🪴
I see you are up to 527 subscribers! Congratulations. Great walk through your garden. I so enjoy the information about plants from other gardeners. It always so useful!
I repurposed some thicker plastic planter pots. I cut the bottoms out of it and I put then in the ground, filled it with garden soil, compost and fertilizer seeds I than the lime light sedum in it, so it keeps it under control and it pops in my garden bed because it is elevated.
I'm in zone 6B Holland Michigan and I have that sweet autumn Clematis growing on one area of my fence and I keep pulling it. It's popped up in about six places in my garden this year. As has a wisteria that I had pulled out and dug out, and you actually have to dig to China to get it out, about 6- 7 years ago. And there it is popping up in certain places. I don't know what's going on with your phlox other than check the bottom of the stems to see if they've been nicked, or maybe there is some sort of infestation or crown rot. I've been gardening since 1985 and sometimes I have issues with phlox as well That's why I don't grow it very often. I have some now that I'm trialling so we shall see what happens... And yes that Helen von Stein Lamb's ear is incredible and I have several of those.
Yes I may end up regretting the clematis, but I really didn’t know what I was getting into. Haha. Yes I need to look closer at the phlox! Thanks for watching!
Great video and such a good idea to give all your tips and lessons learned, wish there were more content creators that do that rather than just stroll around showing what they have. Thank you so much! Just subscribed. Brenda🇨🇦ZN4
Cannas are gorgeous in a larger grouping. They look so lush. You can buy them in flower colors of yellow, white, and salmon. They multiply and can handle very high heat 118°.
Thank you so much my dear friend for another great video and another great garden tour. Oh my gosh your garden is just so fabulous. I couldn’t believe it. I love love love this video. I am joining your channel and I am going to be just joined your channel. I am 475 now. I am so impressed with your video and your beautiful garden. Can’t wait to go back and watch more of your videos beautifully put together.
I just started gardening and I live in Illinois, so I am very grateful that I came across your channel. I will be binge watching. In 2 weeks that I started gardening, I learned about choosing plants that squirrels do not like to eat and spraying your plants with scents that they do not like.
Thanks for sharing all your experience with us. I loved this video, very interesting and informative. The Cannas will spread by clump next year, you will not need to get more.
I just discovered your channel and subscribed! I’m loving it! I have a flower garden that I love, but I’m always out there weeding, even with mulch. I can’t imagine taking care of all you do! Just gorgeous.
Clearly, so much work has gone into your garden and I love it. At 07:35, your basket plant looks like a calibrachoa or million bells. Am I correct? They like to dry out some between watering, not drought dry but enough that their roots get a break from being wet. Is that what you’re doing? Thanks for sharing 😊 Ps: I have not had luck with any clematis I’ve ever tried to grow so I’m actually jealous of your invasive monster 😅
Thank you so much! Those are calibrachoa. That’s true I know they like less water than petunias. I just water them every morning and they seem to be doing pretty good😊. You know I’ve heard lots of people say they have trouble with clematis. I have 18! Must be my dirt? Thanks a lot for watching!
My daughters has 2 orange Cannas that we can’t believe they come back every year. We’re thinking it’s because they are planted near the foundation of the house on each side of the front door. We think it’s getting just enough heat thru out the winter to keep thriving. They are gorgeous!!
That’s so neat!! I think I’m going to take the cannas out and put them in pots. I am going to do hydrangeas there instead. Video of that coming soon! I’m excited!
Yes two years ago I got my first hydrangeas. They do pretty good here. Yeah thinking going to put little quick fires where the cannas are! Thanks my friend had that wheelbarrow on the curb!!! Thanks for watching!
Love the garden tour, you should be proud driving up and looking at the gorgeousness everyday! Love everything about it! But I do love the color red in my garden, looks so pretty mixed with other colors I think. Lol I have a sweet Autom clematis and love the sweet smell, and so far I haven’t had any trouble with it fingers crossed 🤞 I have probably 10 different clematis’s some even growing in pots, and have no trouble with them except one year one got clematis wilt. I cut it back down to the ground and it grew back fresh and has been fine since. Looking forward to seeing your back garden tour. I’m sure it’s as beautiful as the front it. PS Was that you I seen in the front door glass?
@@juliejefferson8197 yes! I have tried the method of taking all the dirt off and putting them upside down in a box in the basement and it hasn’t worked well for me. Thanks for watching!
My phlox do that sometimes, I just cut those brown ones out and I cut back the ones that are about bloomed out and they rebloom all the way until fall.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with that plant. The best I can suggest is getting a grow light for it and try to see if you can keep it going through the winter. Thanks for watching though!
I have a lot of tall phlox and mostly they are trouble free and beautiful ...so don't know if neem oil could help stop your problem . I had 1 bunch get some mildew after we had more humidity and need oil helped, and I thinned them out every couple years by dividing clumps .
@@mkit9235 wow! I told my husband if my garden is the best, you must not watch much CZcams haha!🤣. I put down preen in the spring. Mulch every year. How do you prevent rabbits from eating your plants? Hostas and other plants have been destroyed by the rabbits.
i dont know but i think it will rot your tree faster if you put a pot on the stump cos you have to water the pot more often.
