You don’t need to get a bigger trailer to make sure it clears the gate hinge. Either drop the gate onto a curb, some wood, park the trailer wheels in a gully, or park the rear truck wheels on a hill. All these smoothens out the transition into the bed. Pulling a smaller trailer has a lot better fuel efficiency.
Yep, no sweat Just like you said. The smaller light-weight trailer pulls very easily with my little 2016 Mazda CX-5. Also the shorter ramp doesn't grab the wind like a sail. Only about $25 a day.
I used to have a trailer that had a steep angle on the ramp and the bike would bottom out. I just took a couple of 2x10's and cut and nailed them staggered together then slid then under the ramp. Works great.
Not true, I've hauled an ultra classic, rod glide ultra. And many more in the smaller trailer. All you do is drop the ramp down on a 2x4 wood block, problem solved.
I'm about to get one of these trailers for my bike I have a 2013 Ultra Limited do you mind providing your email address and I email you a couple of questions please I'm in the Atlanta area it's my first Harley too
Many thanks. I am planning on renting a trailer shortly for a trip, and No Doubt would’ve made several mistakes if not for your video. Thank you, be safe and well.
I guess I got lucky when I rented one for the first time, they gave me a big one that had the wheel chuck. I was moving and had to go over 100 miles to the new house. Everything worked out and I was able to leave it at a local U-Haul. Thanks for posting.
Uhaul tried to rent me the trailer with no front wheel chocks which also had 2 missing tiedowns. I quickly corrected them and got one of the small trailers. I had no issues loading my Electraglide whatsoever. It stayed put the whole 1600 miles from Texas to ND.
Got a Honda VTX 1800, I found the same issue, I used a 2x6 under the ramp, solved the problem but I do like that RT bulk, seems to be made for heavier loads and distances...
I learned a few years ago the trailer differences. I went to move a railroad motorcar. I needed one that was 6' wide. I went to rent one without the ramp, and they gave me one with a ramp to "help me" out. But the opening was only 4' wide. And i couldn't get a 5' motorcar on it. I was so upset. I drove 8 hours and it was useless.
I’m a part of a RR museum in Texas and happened to be helping my cousin with his bike. We usually just recommend the car hauler trailer and just say it’s something like a Smart car or a Chevy Spark and you’re good to go 😝 Hope to see you on the rails sometime!
The regular trailer should be fine for a deluxe. The RT version is longer and quite a bit heavier which gives me more confidence. Look up the wheel base on the bike and Uhaul has it also published I believe.
They must have changed the ramp gate on the trailer I rented it did have the wheel chock in the front and I ride a flhtp with 12” suspension had no problem riding in or backing off.
Sir I need your help. I plan to rent a uhaul 6x12 open ramp trailer. I plan to haul a ultra classic and a road glide. My ? Is will I be able to fit them in the above trailer? Thanks in advance
I use the RT 5X9 for my touring bikes. You should have no problem. I have a new video showing how I do it. Your '06 soft tail should be no problem. The ramp is much longer.

I prefer the heavier trailer. It is more stable for my Road Glide. The lighter on makes me nervous goin g 3,000 miles. Whatever works.
@@HarleyGeezer1954Did you have your RV towed out there too so you don't have to drive it either.

Most of us have been putting 2x4s under ramps before you were born......lol
Well you're a living legend 👏

Thanks for watching. Glad I could help. I learned the hard way for you.
I just rented a MT trailer from Uhaul and loaded my 2016 Street Glide in it four different times and had absolutely no problems

You have to hound them for the wheel chock at some locations.

It is just certain touring wwith the 12" shocks. Mine and my friends could not get ours on. We tried different ones. No bueno.
Rented the 5x9 last week to pick up a Honda vtx1800. The ramp was indeed too steep. Put a brick under it and that did the trick.

I prefer a heavier trailer for a 885 lb bike.
If your hauling a HD ultra glide trike get the 5x9 with wheel chalk and taller gate.

Thank you very informative and helpful
Used that wheel chock ramp many times for my Road Glide. Just gotta put something under the ramp like a piece of wood to raise it up a little.
We got plans on going to Sturgis next year. Since we got 2 dogs, we're going to get a uhaul cargo so I don't get road splatter all over our bike.
I had no problem with a 23 Road Glide special with the mt trailer.
I didn’t even know uhaul had trailers specifically for motorcycles
Yes there is
Interesting. One day I hope to own my own trailer.
I’m going to be picking up a Custom Deluxe and my concern is that the trailer may be too short

Let’s Go!!!! 🤙🏾🔥

Some of the bigger ones indeed have the wheel chock. What do you ride?
@@HarleyGeezer1954 flhtp with 12”suspension
@@HarleyGeezer1954 flhtp with 12”suspension .
Have fun in Daytona
You should have made another video when you picked up the correct trailer
I have a couple of me strapping the bike down for Sturgis.
Great share Fam. 🤙🏾🔥
I have a 2021 Indian Roadmaster Limited. I have the first trailer you showed reserved. Now I wonder???
put a board over the ramp to make it longer, that will work.
what if you have two touring bikes? then the one with the wheel chock isn't going to work obviously
Sir I need your help.
I plan to rent a uhaul 6x12 open ramp trailer. I plan to haul a ultra classic and a road glide.
My ? Is will I be able to fit them in the above trailer?
Thanks in advance
would the short ramp be fine for a sport bike?
A friend of mine moved to florida he has his son ride his flhtc to my house then he flies to San Antonio my house
Trailers are for boats!
Hello sir,
Quick ?
On the 6x12 ramp trailer, can I load 2 Harley’s staggered?
Thank you
I don’t think so. I just had room to walk around and tie it down. Maybe? The front wheel chock is centered though
Will a 06 Softail fit up ramp on the 5x9 trailer ?

You know it’s the old farts telling folks what a ‘real’ biker is. 😂😂
Why trailer a motorcycle 4K miles to a giant traffic jam? You live in Florida, go ride your damn bike.
There are no young guys in Sturgis.
Wrong.
Would a sportster fit on the regular motorcycle trailer from u haul?
Oh yeah. It is the touring with the 12" shocks that seem to be a problem. The sportster has a short wheel base and should be fine.
