You CAN use a leather washer between the sissy bar and fender, however its not usually the place where cracks tended to occur.
Do a video on the peanut tank install on a vt750dc
Remove stock tank. Line new tank. Bolt On vt750 tank. Hook up fuel lines. Ride. 🤷🏻♂️

That’s a fairly short sissy bar, but I would assume it would still beat itself to destruction on a bike with a fender that pivots with the swing arm, and the shock still on the bike?
If I remember correctly- TJ replaced the mono shock with a rigid bar.
