- Jack is a Tech at our VW/Audi Repair shop in Charlotte NC (DAP Repair), and he has a rather unique car! After years of owning lowered Volkswagens built to be fast, he has decided to go a different route for his newest addition. His TDI Touareg has been built for the sole purpose of going Off-Roading. In this video, we go under the car to see how much damage has been caused by his many trips into the woods, and also show how catastrophic undercarriage damage can be avoided.

I took my 09 VR6 Treg out on a 4x4 trail for the first time on Sunday and was blown away with it's capability. The looks from hardcore 4x4 vehicle owners was priceless.
It's worth mentioning that the Touraeg, Porsche Cayenne and the Audi Q7 all are built on the same VW platform. Also worth mentioning is that these cars are both very capable in the terrain but also luxurious inside.
I really like his insight and ability to explain his car and hobby. Good video guys!
I'm a Land Rover technician & own a Touareg myself. I can honestly say these Touaregs are a killer bang for the buck overland / off-road vehicle.
Easily the off road Sleeper. Is that a nice Jaguar steering wheel?
After watching the previous video on the trail and this one I'm a bit more interested in all of this. Nice work with these, and awesome Touareg, Jack!
Nice seeing what you have done to your car, I have a 2010 TDI and you have inspired me.
Jack, what a nice and simply honest review. I live in Belgium and some years ago drove a 1958 Unimog 404s with exchanged MD 5 cil 300D engine from my place in Belgium to South Afrika. (25.000km of Sahara desert, Central Afrika jungle and other roads). I would love to do it in a V6 TDI Touareg one day.... But it would probably miss the load capacity; fuel, water,... Anyway, have fun & safe driving I wish you!
Loved the impression of Paul. Love the Touareg.
Love this video, thanks for sharing. I don't feel so alone. COME OUT WEST!
Thank You for the good words about Off-Road community… 👏🤝
I just bought a T1 Touareg with the 4.2L. Excited to start getting some cool off-road mods for it!
This just makes me want a Touareg even more than I want the Grand Cherokee. It just looks a lot bolder and classier, more comfortable, and handles way better, and has better built quality.
Maaaake sure it's a TDI, and not the V10 one.
@@backroadbeetle4781 yea well.. most diesels are not usually very reliable especially Chrysler’s EcoDiesel, but the exception goes to the Touareg’s TDI V6 and V10. My old neighbor’s 2006 Touareg TDI still runs well at 170k miles.
Happy to see that the corny dad jokes and overall humor at DAP is not exclusive to Paul. :-D
Great video love any touareg content
Wow nice showcase on the EW armor.
Good choice bro , I got the jeep Grand cherokee wk2 trailhawk 3.0 crd. And the quadra lift raised with spacers, of course don't forget the tires 275/65 r18.
Greetings from Germany
awesome video on the VW
Thanks for the cool video, can't wait to get one. Do they make a bolt on metal bumper to replace that foglight shroud?
You should do a build breakdown of the blue Cayenne shown in the video. Bryson has a ton of stuff done to that thing.
Top vid m8. Now could you do us a quick demo of "Rich Men North Of Richmond"?
The impression of Paul was quite funny
I guess you could say that this Treg is a little "Jacked" up?
Tremendous SUVs.
Awesome! I have the same thoughts for mine lol. I love the comments, that's a VW🤣. What lift did you use.
LOVE THOSE TIRES(205-75-15 MK4 TDI and 215-65-16 MK7.5 Alltrack) but they suck in the mud. lol
Check out darkside developments channel in the UK, they built a v10 tdi touareg
what size of bolts did you use for the skid plate..?
Curious if you have the locking DIFF (2 options here) and air suspension? I don't think the 6cyl TDI's had these options standard like the V8 and V 10's do.
All touaregs and cayenne's 2010 and prior had a center diff lock. Some had 4 corner air some did not. The rear diff lock was optional on all, not standard but after 2008 in USA the touareg normally doesn't have rear diff lock. His doesn't have 4 corner air...you can see the steel springs at 5:33 timeframe.
Consider changing your suspension to air. It is very rare in US (I own 2009 Touareg 4.2 with air suspension) but you can convert. It is MUCH more capable offroader with AIR suspension. 300mm ground clearance.
Do you have locking rear diff? If not it can be added too.
Is it possible to add to Reg from 2012?
@@stasn3715 they have air suspension for European cars - so yes - should be possible
@@GenieVats Hi have already air suspension as an option but what I mean is that locking rear diff. because mine is AWD and everything has been driven by a computer.
I have a 2007 touareg V6, and rhe struts are done/worn out. What air ride would you suggest for the upgrade?
You guys should move in EU you will love the cars here I promise
RAISE HELL, PRAISE DALE
I’ve been looking at getting one of these. Can you tell me more about the “diesel gate”
In 2015 be was caught cheating the epa and vw had to fix their diesel cars several hundreds of thousands of them, one way of doing that is offering a extended warranty on older diesel models.
Do you have the optional rear locker?
Dude what tire carrier is that and how did you mount it
Could you please explain the warranty and why you don’t have to worry about maintenance because of diesel gate?
Hola.
Very good off roader, but i can't find any under body protection in my place. I use 33" ×12.5 ×18 tires.
Hello! Do you have problems with the differentials due to the bigger tires? I mean the ratio of the gears in the differential if it does not change and if it affects something
@@nicupanescu6272 i ruined my front axle, but i think it maybe damaged by water coming in, for gear ratio nothing wrong with it, only for speed camera you have to reduce speed by 10% approximately. Another effect is downhill speed control, the abs sensor thinks the car is under 3mph, but the actual spped is faster, so some time a bit scary when down very steep slope, now i always use my foot to control the brake when too steep slope.
@@v12mercedes-benz72 for about 1 year, I have a V6 2007 facelift with 225 cp and I equipped them with 265/65/17, approximate 31x10.5x17. in my area I can't find mechanics who know too much about the subject of differentials and that's why I asked you. For me, the difference between the size recommended by the manufacturer and what I put, is about 2 inches and so I have no problem with speed. The speed displayed by the car is also the real speed, I checked with gps and vcds. I have some electrical problems that give me headaches because I can't find a solution even at the local dealer, but overall they are very capable cars offroad, although most people, initially when I tell them where to go with it, they say I'm crazy. In addition, it is an exceptional all-day car
@@nicupanescu6272 what's the electrical problem you got? The biggest tyre for TDI without any modification is 275 65 18 or 275 70 17, 32 inch. For those size nothing wrong.
yo will this stuff work on q5
Touareg is the best SUV ever
I‘d like to own one with rear diff lock, but only can find without. can you guys tell me how capable a t-reg is without diff lock?
They are still very capable, they still have a great traction control and with good tires your pretty much set.
I have a Gladiator Rubicon but wanted something to f-with my buddies in their Tacoma’s and it’s funny when I bring the my Touareg out and they get stuck and my Treg passes them on the trail.
Hey man, I'm at my third Touareg, although V8 4.2...I was wondering where you got that awning from. Can you give us a brand and a part number? Thanks
I got the awning from a company called Yescom USA
@@johnhoffmann9524 Thanks !!
do you mean diesel tank skid plates lol
Me puedes ayudar con mi touareg??
What size tires are you running?
It's in the video 265...
265/65r17
Wanna do Audi allroad
had to double take on that title name for a sec
Rad project? Would you guys know how to do this for an Audi Q5?
I want to overland my Touareg I recently bought but mine is a near flawless 42k miles 2004 😭
Haven't they ever seen a Amarok
Not available in the US, Mexico is the closes place that have them.
@0:08 What kind of TDI, bruh? Inline 5 TDI? V6 TDI? V10 TDI?
@0:47 It is the V6 TDI.
should've left the rock in there
Well my touareg has two lockers
