- It’s been years since we’ve seen Chile’s own mean mound of water at Punta de Lobos look like this. Thursday saw the biggest swell of the season rumble into Southern America, a juggernaut of a swell - luckily a couple of big wave chargers were on site to huck into this thing. This is where my father first taught me how to bodysurf, body board and learn how to surf back in the day. Early 70's. Chile has a few good spots to surf at but this point is a screaming left. Im retired now living i Venice, Ca. Only wishing we had waves like that come thru.
Some heroics going on out there.
It's not the size of those waves, i was there that day looking from the cliffs above, and the energy of those waves is massive....i have nothing but respect for those who dare to get there and charge those bombs.
They look very fast.
Never got to surf here when I was in Chile mainly was at Maitencillo got some good 3-4 meter swell out at the Rocks though

You can ride a shorter board however you need a big board to paddle into that stuff, that's a lot of water moving around out there thank you for the nice video
You right, paddling a wave like that with a shorter board is almost impossible. The fatness and the bigness of the make you need a fat, big board.
