I know a lot of feeder anglers use a 2 inch feeder link incorporated into their free running rigs. Do you, or when would you use a short feeder link for feeder fishing, and why?

Do you always use mono as a mainline for feeder fishing? 0,18mm does it for me when I´m fishing with the winklepicker, on every other, heavier rod I use 0,10 or 0,12mm braid and a 0,25mm or even 0,30mm mono leader. I´m from Austria and on every english feeder video I see lads are fishing mono mainline, even at rivers.

Feeder cage is much above the hook , does fish attacks cage or hook where maggots bait is attached?
