I grew up with a closet gay man and his wife, as a part of their socially acceptable façade, and it was just terrible. To everyone outside our home, though, we appeared like the perfect Christian family.

Crack a biology book open and you'll discover that our bodies weren't "made" at all ^^. You're superimposing purpose/meaning (which is a subjective human construct) on to reality. It is a property of your perceptions of reality, not of reality itself, in the same way that the awe some people feel when looking at mountains is clearly a property of their minds, not of the mountains. Our bodies can be used for an enormous range of activities and it is the "owner" of the body that gets to decide.
