You’re bang on point Tom! I don’t get why the other 2 are being so negative about it. Sometimes opportunities pop up in the market and you have to pounce on them. Getting Raya doesn’t mean we won’t buy other players.
Even if we only have Raya and Ramsdale for a season or 2 then cash in on one, that’s a pretty good scenario if you ask me. Turner just doesn’t really suit our system so we’d be in trouble if Ramsdale got injured.

your use of "negativity" here is hyperbolic. There's nothing negative in saying they would allocate funds for other positions. Especially as they're not complaining about the signing either if you listen to what they actually said. That aside, I agree with your point that its good to show the ruthlessness we've been asking many years for. If we get him, end of next season I'd expect to sell Rams and reinvest. Smart all round

I think Ramsdale is someone that needs serious competition to thrive, it was actually pretty easy for him to get the no1 spot since Leno was always going out. WE NEED COMPETITION
You don’t have competition for goalkeeper. There’s a starter and there’s an understudy. There is 0 chance we keep 2 first team keepers on the books. If Raya signs Ramsdale is gone. Just like with Emi, just like with Leno.
just to add my two cents. I agree with Tom on having two top class goalkeepers to breed success. I understand Andrews opinion on a keeper, but you also have to think of training. If you have two world class keepers, not only do they push each other for their individual starting spot, but it improves the overall quality of the entire squad training wise. They have to have better accuracy in training for shooting and crossing drills, There isn't a drop off in build up for either team in training so players are able to adapt to the system quicker when it comes to distribution out of the back. Also it gives confidence, when one keeper goes down, as a player on the field you have 100% confidence that nothing will change in the performance of the last line of defense or have to worry about negative systematic differences due to lack of ability. How many times have Arsenal been in a cup competition with a backup and we cross our fingers they have a good performance. Turner honestly has been our best back up in a while in my opinion (Obv Martinez after finally showing his potential I believe was/is better than Turner). Raya however in my opinion would allow trust in stability among the players and fan base for a "number two" that we haven't had in many cases.

it was claudio bravo who competed with ter stegen, PSG with keylor navas and donnarumma also have 2 top goalkeepers, yeah I know navas is 36 but especially the season donnarumma arrived 21/22 navas was a worldclass keeper.

Good show as usual big props Tom. Agree with you 1 million percent. My two cents for what it’s worth, the other guys make the same mistake like other content channels you’re not thinking like the Kroenkes. Think like a billionaire owner, I’ve worked with guys like him in my career, he’s a businessman first, they’re highly competitive due to their image. Their buddies who are wealthy it’s a bragging thing, so as a businessman you’re always looking to being in upgrades and level up in any business. Cover the gaps…this is business not football, football is the platform. bringing in Raya is par for the course. Ramsdale has limitations and those limitations are covered by Raya no disrespect. Profile upgrades long ball systems is what this is about
I unwind the point and why you would want to protect that but unfortunately that’s not reality. I’d bringing in competition is disruptive to someone like Ramsdale then he does not have the right mindset. In business Which is what football is as well you stack the odds for success. A make way of doing this is exactly this move, risk mitigation

If it’s true, hopefully Ramsdale rises to the occasion. You don’t want a new keeper to come in, Ramsdale to cower / slip up, and the new keeper not have to do much in terms of raising the level to start matches.

Agree with Drew. At this moment in time, Arsenal is a more attractive side than Bayern. Being at Bayern means always drama even if they win something.

Do we realise that what's cost us over the past few years is players in out fold losing value due to not getting enough games/not a good fit for the club.
We will lose value on one of Ramsdale/Raya. I know we've got this lovely notion that it'll push either goalies but the economics don't work - there are metrics in which you can get a goalie that's closer to what you've got as your number 1.
Tom, I hear you re: outfield players having near same quality replacements. Think it's evident most of our player can play multiple positions which makes that line of thought moot.
Why would we? ~38 EPL games for Ramsdale (maybe switching for some midweek games)

For a Gk position I dont think having 2 no 1 keeper is a good idea. Eventually one Gk will want to leave. Raya is fantastic if Ramsdale is leaving
Raya is a better goalie than Ramsdale. His stats say so also and his passing is so good.
I like Ramsdale and I rate him, it's abit strange cause atm Ramsdale is the highest worth goalie. But Arteta did try to to go for Raya couple years ago.
I think keeper is a position we’re we need strengthening. I do like Turner and rate him as a shot stop but to me it’s clear he doesn’t fit in our brand of play he is to slow and lack confidence with the ball at his feet and the way we play we need that from our keeper and he’s lack of confidence in this area does show when he plays. He is good keeper tho but he just isn’t right for us so we need a second keeper I think that are more comfortable with the ball as his feet. It’s nothing against him I just think the way we play exposes his weaknesses more then highlights his strengths. Raya fits more as a profile we need and would suit our style better. I’m bit on the fence tho with the price tag and the dynamics of having to first keepers in the squad. It could work out well or it don’t. Either way I don’t see it as a problem to have 2 very good keepers in the squad. A high quality standard across the squad isn’t a problem in my eyes it only increases the level players need to preform in every game and every training session. If it doesn’t work out and players aren’t happy with minutes played or there roll at the club we can move them along properly for a profit or at least get are money back. Quality players isn’t hard to move even if they have hade limited minutes I think city in particular and other clubs as well has proven that.
When was Rambo’s best form? When Leno was right behind him.
Haaland scored a hattrick in UCL at that age and a total of 10 or 11 goals in UCL that season. Rasmus is no Haaland.
And for those who complained about Arsenal's inability to act like a big club and get its signings "over the line" and the drawn-out transfer sagas that so often left Arsenal supporters on pins and needles, compare the Rice, Havertz and Timber signings to, naming just a few: (a) Gvardiol/City which may now be on the rocks, (b) the Caicedo/Chelsea deal-or-no-deal, (c) Liverpool's window-long pursuit of Romeo Lavia, (d) the recently-announced delay of the Hojlund/MU deal, and (e) Newcastle's aborted flirtation with Kvicha Kvaratskhelia. It seems we're now the ones getting the business done while everyone else struggles.

Time will tell but I think buying Hojlund for that price was a shrewd move as he may be more an Oshimehen and worth 3 digits. His GA is 20 and can hold up play to suit Man Utd's wingers.

Atalanta wanted 100 mil for him, they are just very good and hard negotiators like Lyon are for instance. So 70m for Hojlund is a good comprise with him still only being 19.

We'll see. I think he'll be a 20 goal striker in the next few years. Not many young strikers doing 20+ in the years ahead. Having one now and reaping fruits from it instead of 100+ in the future or crazy Oshimhen prices later is better. Remember people thought of Haaland the same way. He's not going to be as good as that but suspect he's going to be bigger than he is right now soon. 20 GA isn't anything to laugh at...

The reason Arsenal want to sign Raya is cause our head goalkeeper coach is the person who trained Raya, they say that Raya is his protege, he helped Raya sign for Brentford and had been trying to get Arsenal 2 sign him since he became goalkeeper coach, they both want a reunion that's why he turned down Bayern, he knows he got a good chance of being number 1 goalkeeper at Arsenal cause of his relationship with our head goalkeeper coach and plus stats wise he was 1 of the best keepers in prem last season he was number 1 rated on a few different aspects of goalkeeper duties like rNk1 goalkeeper for long passes and saves hes top quality better than ramsdale as a a modern goalkeeper which is what arteta wants, I think with how much the goalkeeper coach is pushing for Arteta to sign Reya Nd with him being better at distribution and saves its looking certain we goin too sign Reya

Good afternoon lads. I am listening to this now on Spotify... I would like to addd about Raya/Ramsdale story... I heard Ramsdale can be an asshole to his own teammate's... People say he can also be ''toxic'' look what happened to toxics like Guendouzi and Aubemeyang who Arteta worked out of the club... Plus we will play PL, CL, Fa Cup, Carabao Cup.. And Ramsdale could break his leg, look at Bayern and Neuer... And to be fair if you read the article on the Athletic Ramsdale is not that good, Raya is better on a lot of fronts then Ramsdale. All things considered this story is not for nothing, so Raya might be coming to be number 1 goal keeper over Ramsdale.
