1:10 “60,000 - 80,000 in each barn” Yet Eggland’s Best claims to sell cage free eggs. They get away with claiming so because cage free is not a legally defined term, meaning there is no regulation or standards. It’s just marketing, like printing the word delicious on packaging, it means nothing.
The industry is also rife with sabotage there is a documentary about how the industry works, the farmers don't own the chickens, they're hired to raise them by a larger company that has a pretty messed-up incentives system. The documentary also featured a guy that would go screw up the climate control of rival farms either as revenge or to improve his own scores.
Don’t understand the popular doublethink that some animals are food and some are not. If it had been a barn full of some other species the reactions might differ, but why? Animals suffered unnecessarily either way, and we have the power to prevent it by simply choosing to eat plants.
Understandable, but the reason we eat the animals we eat (in western couture) is mostly determined by what they eat...with the exception of seafood and fish.
@@courtneyraefl Sort of. Animals that don't eat meat taste better than those that do. I guess you can kind of take that as a complement in a twisted kind of way. Pigs are the most confusing thing food wise. They're highly intelligent, thus by far the most unethical thing we eat. Some people even have them at pets, but that's actually another unethical thing..not that they're pets as much as all of the misinformation that's bad for both the pigs and people. There is no such a thing as a "mini" or 'teacup" pig. Some may not get to 500+ LBS, but they are pigs just the same, thus there is nothing small about them. People get these things thinking that they're only going to get as big as a large dog (do to all of the misinformation), but that's just not the case at all, thus a lot of them wind up in shelters. That needs to stop.

Sad that we lack empathy for helpless creatures.
Oh, gawd... the poor, poor chickens... trapped, unable to escape, probably in a panic... poor, poor things! 🥺😞😔
Chicken Poop has a lot of nitrogen in it. That may have caused this.
