Just saw the movie " 1917 " for the second time. I don't think I can ever listen to Ben again without thinking of those two characters ( the young soldiers ). He looks and sounds so much like them. What a stunning movie that was. h, and I love the boots. Cheers.

In the 70's I had to go to the Clarkes in Bristol I think it was to pick the order the Army placed for our unit to go to Kenya. All Suede Sand colour. Only wore them when returning from Patrols, but brilliant footwear for going to the nearest town an hour away for the ladies. 17shillings a pair then

The Desert Boot 2.0 addressed the complaint about the crepe sole sucking up dirt and turning black. They introduced a less porous rubber sole that seems to repel dirt and grime and remain as good as their first wear.

You should check out South African "veldskoene" aka. "vellies". Similar style, as originally worn by the boers back in the day. There are several brands online, but the best would probably be to buy from an authentic, small town home industry shop.

If you are going to purchase make sure to wear them around the house before venturing out for more serious walking, wear thicker socks or double up - they can be quite sore first time due to the harder leather - when they have softened and moulded to your feet they're the most comfortable shoes you'll own ( I live in Lancashire and we had lots of snow today and they performed fine )
A top top pair of boots !

Bought a pair of desert boots in beeswax over 2 years ago, and they have always been in rotation. One of the most flexible shoes to dress up a casual fit or dress down more formal attire. However, my laces definitely did not hold up as well as yours; both snapped a few months ago. However, mine were not leather but rather a thinner fabric material. Did a great job at never coming untied, but definitely not meant to last. The rest of it still looks and feels great though.

I purchased Clarks shoes around 4 years ago. In fact, they appear to be brand new but noticed the sole just came off. I contacted WALK ON A CLOUD where I originally purchased the shoes and was told to contact CLARKS CANADA. I contacted Clarks but they couldn't care less.
    "Good day .......,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I'm sorry to learn of your disappointment with your shoes.
If the shoes are deemed defective within 6 months, we will offer a refund or replacement. After this time, we are not able to assist with such queries.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact us. On behalf of Clarks, please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused.
We here at Clarks wish you a wonderful day.
    Kind regards,
    Sabeegah"
Unfortunately, they do not stand behind their product thus tarnishing a once solid company's reputation.

How long do these take to break in?? I got these as a gift but they're extremely stiff and uncomfortable. The size is good, they just feel hard and inflexible. The sole is rather hard too. I've avoided wearing them because they hurt my feet. They don't chafe that badly but the shape is awkward for my feet, and it hurts my actual bones when I take them off.
