Trick to get maximum fuel efficiency on the highway is to minimize the variance in throttle opening and thus fuel use ( i.e don't use cruise control)

AC was on throughout the journey.
Good job. On a flat road or gradual downward slope, the moment you release your foot from accelerator, break, clutch... Display will show the maximum.
0 - 30 kmpl is min to max that you can see on dynamic mileage display, but if you keep driving at 1500 rpm, you can easily get more than 30 kmpl.

Honda delivers unmatched performance & refinement in Petrol Engines.
If mileage / running cost per km is your concern then definitely diesel ciaz gives highest mileage in its segment .
You can go for Honda City if Built quality , safety rating , driving pleasure are your priority.

A) 1.3 litre Diesel engine
• Fiat sourced 200 DDIS engine
• ARAI claimed mileage 28 kmpl
• Power Lag felt at lower RPM being smaller engine
• You can go for this if mileage is your concern and you are ok with minor power lags.
B) 1.5 litre Diesel engine
• Suzuki manufactured 225 DDIS engine
• ARAI claimed mileage 26 kmpl
• comparatively Slightly more responsive engine, having 5 hp power and 25 Nm torque more than 1.3 litre engine.
• you can go for this if u want slightly better performance at the cost of mileage.
But for significantly better performance, refined engine and driving pleasure I would recommend Hyundai Verna or Honda City.

Cruise control can not be installed aftermarket. It’s available from company from Delta variant.

Diesel, CNG or EV?
I won’t recommend CNG as engine life of engine & vehicle deteriorates faster .
Diesel is good if you have more long drives i.e. 200kms + in a day
Otherwise for city drives and daily running less than 200Kms EV is the best available option, ( no noise , no vibrations, automatic transmission). And most important cost per km for
Diesel = approx ₹ 7 -10 / Km
EV = approx ₹ 1 to ₹ 4 / km ( depending on home charging to fast commercial charging )

I also have a ciaz vdi and I drive under 90KM but my cars mileage is just 22 or 23 ...and u saying 36.someting ... just like a joke....
Mileage varies as per driving style, weather & road conditions and car maintenance.
36 KMPL is the highest number that I could fetch in best possible conditions.
