General power steering flush procedures for 1995-1999 Nissan Maxima. This process of flushing a power steering system can also be used on most conventional belt driven power steering systems.

Many power steering systems use transmission fluid in them, however some do not such as Saabs and some BMW's. This 1999 Nissan power steering system uses power steering fluid that is compatible with a transmission fluid like Dex/Merc. In fact Dex/Merc meets all the OEM specs for this Nissan Maxima. What ever fluid you use always make sure it meets OEM specification.
